Keep it Clean: Keeping your windshield and windshield wipers clean plays an essential role in helping your wipers last longer and work better. Allowing your windshield to get dirty or gritty will wear down the rubber on your windshield wipers. In addition, failure
Community health identifies common needs in the community and provides solutions for modifying behaviors for community members. According to Stanhope and Lancaster (2008, p. 347) the term community health is “the meeting of collective needs by identifying problems and managing behaviors within the community itself and between the community and the larger society.” According to Stanhope and Lancaster (2008) community health involves biological, emotional, and social aspects. The biological aspects are measured in terms of “ morbidity and mortality rates, life expectancy indexes, and risk factor profiles” (Stanhope & Lancaster, 3008, p. 345). Emotional aspects are measured in terms of mental health, while crime rates and levels of function define the social aspects (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2008). Community structure is defined in terms of services and resources available to the members,
Does your windshield need to be replaced, or will a simple repair better serve your needs? Windshields are specially designed to provide structural support to the vehicle. Because of this, they have to be very strong and are made up of two layers of glass sandwiching a thinner layer of automotive safety glass. This strength means many damages to windshields are actually capable of being repaired.
If your windshield is damaged, you're probably wondering if you can repair it or if you have to replace it. You may also wonder if it's safe to drive your car with a damaged windshield. Since the glass plays an important role in keeping you safe while you drive, you don't want to take any unnecessary risks. Here's what you need to know.
Assessing a community is an integral part of Community Health Nursing because it leads to an understanding of a community’s overall health status, including its strengths and weaknesses. In turn, the assessment findings can be used to influence positive change in the community and improve the population’s health. One strategy used to assess a population’s health needs is performing a windshield survey. A windshield survey is typically conducted from a moving vehicle and includes a systematic observation of the general community. This paper includes the findings of a windshield survey I completed of Heber, AZ as well as my overall impression of the survey, and personal biases that I need to consider.
The town I chose to do my windshield survey on was Jamestown, NC, 27282. I chose Jamestown because this is where I grew up and this is where my grandparents live. Performing this windshield survey will allow me to observe all the things the town of Jamestown have to offer and to see what barriers may exist for a community health nurse trying to work with the residents of Jamestown. In my opinion a windshield observation is one of the most important tasks that a community nurse has to perform since this will allow them to know what is available for their patients.

Services to the community are social services, Schools , post office, fire station , police station and businesses.
According to Stanhope and Lancaster, a windshield survey is a "community assessment, the motorized equivalent of a physical assessment for an individual; windshield refers to looking through the car windshield as a nurse in community health drives through the community collecting data.” (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2010, p. 217). These types of surveys are a form of information gathering means, making direct visual observations to assess the social environment of a community while driving, they can even be conducted on foot in the event that a vehicle is not available or possible. The reason of the windshield survey is to gain a better perceptive of the city social environment in terms of its boundaries, housing conditions,
As nurses we know medical professionals more than ever are responsible for treating large diverse populations. Understanding cultural differences in various populations is crucial to produce positive outcomes. Nurses have a major role in health care promotion. Nurses should be treating the patient as a whole in mind, body, and spirit. This should be included in community treatment too. Individual, family, environment, and community assessments are necessary to provide the care and improve health care outcomes in the community as a whole. The World Health Organization’ s (WHO) definition of community is “a group of
Imperialism,-a more powerful country subjugating a weaker nation to it’s benefit, has been a part of human civilization for centuries, people take advantage of each other, its human nature.
In Mark Twain?s novel, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, the main character, Tom, is best friends with Huck. Tom and Huck seem very similar. But of course, everyone has their differences. They both have many freedoms and experiences, which differ. Their friendship means different things to each kid. There is also the factor of experience and intelligence. The boys are similar and different in many ways, but I think that it does not effect their friendship.
If an individual commits a gruesome murder of another and is caught, he will be brought before a jury of his peers who will decide his ultimate fate. If convicted of his crimes, the criminal could face the death penalty. Seemingly endless trials and appeals will plague the remaining life this criminal has. His days will be spent in solitary confinement, often with below-standard conditions and treatment. In the end, he will die a painful death, a final performance before an audience, before his curtain falls. When his last breath leaves his lips, the American judicial system can mark off another successful execution, attributed to the name of almighty justice. Something is wrong with this picture. In a society that claims to be advanced in methods of morality and humanity, capital punishment has no place. Capital punishment is the state-sponsored execution of an individual, serving as punishment and atonement for the crime the individual committed. Through legal precedent, the punishment is not applied to mentally-challenged individuals, those whose sanity is questioned, and children under the age of 18 (“Cruel & Unusual?” 4-6). In a post-Hammurabian society, it is not considered appropriate to rape a rapist, burn an arsonist, or steal a kidnapper’s children (Bedau A3). In the same way, we should not be content to execute a killer, willfully enabling revenge and parading it
According to Stanhope and Lancaster (2008) defines a community as: “A social group determined by geographic boundaries and/or common values and interests. Its members know and interact with one another. It functions within a particular social structure and exhibits and creates norms, values, and social institutions” (World Health Organization [WHO], 1974, pg. 7).
I was never fond of the windshield wipers. The way the black arms would come to push away all the escaping water, cutting off the paths of the little droplets and flinging some away while shoving the rest back into the bottom of the window. As a child, it made me frustrated that it would always ruin the departure of the make-believe escape pods. I hated the sound the wipers would occasionally make when the window was too dry to give it a slick path to slide over. It was also ugly and reminded me of some sort of weird arm that was devoid of muscle or flesh, much like a skeleton which was fitting. The windshield wiper represented death and failure of the hopeful, little traveling droplets;
