Woods class was called winning in the trenches a book about the Green Bay Packers team in the very beginning of the NFL. it is narrated by hey offensive tackle named Forrest Gregg he gives such a vivid depictions of every single game every single practice and every single person he is with on the team as though I can see it from the comfort of my bedroom . Nick because you both play football I feel like this book will be fantastic for you I know you like the Steelers had to shame but that does not change the fact that this book is one of the best that I've ever read The Way Forest pics it and during certain games I feel like this could be a candidate for the Great American novel but it's not just I feel one book that can create a great American novel it has to be a multitude of ideas compiled together to create something that is allowed to be labeled the great American novel. but I digress. I feel like this would be fantastic for you the way the forest describes his playing time with Coach Vince it feels like I was alive and playing during the time he was the book and all is so fantastic and I would recommend it to every single person in our classroom if I could. It is such a phenomenal book and you just many literary devices and quotes from actual incidents that I feel like you would be an English teacher is dream in the one instance Forrest Gregg describes the second Super Bowl versus the Dallas Cowboys it was called The Ice Bowl he described the field in the way that makes me feel like I'm standing on it and how when they try to run a go and play the field is so wet and sticky that's a good couldn't find their feet to turn and run we've had that problem little bit 2 in our own teams. change this is one of the best books ever written and as you know that's my favorite team along with Miss Woods. Maybe because it's about the Packers I will get a couple of credit points do you
The book, “Training Camp” by Jon Gordon is an inspirational story filled with invaluable lessons and insights on bringing out the best in yourself and your team. The story follows a little boy named Martin Jones who was a undrafted rookie trying to make it into the NFL.. He spent his whole life proving many critics that a guy with a big heart but is small can succeed against all the odds. After Martin sprained his ankle during preseason, he thought that he lost his dream., but then he meets a very special coach. The coach was a great mentor, he shared eleven lessons about life that kept his dream alive. This help him a lot and even made him to be one of the best of the best.
Multiple chapters in the book discussed in depth about characters Boobie Miles, Mike Winchell, and Ivory Christian. Each of these players had varying backgrounds, and motivations about why they played football. These chapters also discuss the lives of players off of the field, and how the academics at Permian were backseat to their powerhouse football team.
H. G. Bissinger is the author of this book and the narrator. He is very descriptive about each individual on the football team and how they impact society. Bissinger’s word choice and sentence fluency is excellent. He establishes his characters, develops the plot, and builds the novel to reach a climatic conclusion. The sentence fluency is well structured and easy to read. Bissinger’s writing will not allow you to put the book down when you start reading the novel.

The Battle of Vimy Ridge was one of the greatest military battles ever fought. This battle contributed to Canada’s coming of age as a nation. The taking of Vimy Ridge claimed more than 200,000 lives during the first World War and will forever remain in the history as one of the worlds great military triumphs. The Canadian Military used extensive planning, new innovative weaponry and relied on the tremendous courage and sacrifice of its soldiers in order to claim victory.
The novel begins with preseason football in the heat of a Texas summer. The players and coaches practice over 4 hours a day in 100-degree weather. The media is affecting every player pushing for a state championship and college scouts at every practice. The boys who gave completely of themselves for their sport are unique personalities. From dedicated quarterback Mike Winchell to Harvard-bound Brian Chavez to the inscrutable Ivory Christian, the team was full of young men who were singular human beings, each one bringing something special and indefinable to their group. And that's just scratching the very surface. The book recounts the tragic story of Boobie Miles, team’s star running back who had been highly recruited by all of the major programs. He is expected to attend and earn a scholarship to a large state college. The community
Hello im Jack Meland and I choose the book “The Rivalry” by John Feinstein, because of the imprinted football on the front cover it really felt like it was going to be touching and a great story . I gave it a 4 star review because it was a little all over the place. However, I love how the book is a little of everything action, sports, mystery, romance, and drama and I think everyone will like the book if they are interested in reading. It’s nice how it’s written because it leaves a cliffhanger on every page it feels like which is smart of Feinstein to keep the readers engaged. I have played football since I was in kindergarten so it seemed like a great book to relate to. The teenagers are young journalists, Stevie and Susan Carol write about a football games usually college football games. Their biggest story that they have to write is going to be the
“Brett Favre is one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of professional football. You are judged by winning, and he’s won more games than any other quarterback who has ever played. But I will remember him just as well for being such a fierce competitor and outstanding leader. He was the face of the Packers and a great credit to our game. It was an honor to coach against him.”(Mike Shanahan, Denver Broncos Head Coach) Brett’s passion for the game, and winning history, together earned him the respect of the entire football nation. I am going to give you a summary of this incredible athlete’s life, covering both the ups and downs of his bumpy road to success. I am using factual
Many countries have tried but failed to capture this area. Both French and British armies tired but failed the Germans were too strong. This area was known as Vimy Ridge, which has many high hills and was located in France. The Germans had captured this area since September 1914, the Germans started to build artillery proof bunkers and trenches. Germanys had the advantage in every battle; Germanys had their bases on top of the long hills. Which lead them to look down on their enemies, which was easier for Germanys to kill their target. After countries failing to capture Vimy Ridge, Canada decided they were going to attempt to fight for Vimy Ridge. For the first time Britain asked for generals to lead Canada to victory for the battle of Vimy Ridge. Sir Julian Byng and Major Arthur Currie were asked to lead the Canadian Military to win the battle of Vimy Ridge. After months of practicing a strategy Canada was ready. April 1917, Canada went to battle with Germany for Vimy Ridge. This became one of the most devastating battles ¬in Canadian history. Canadians should remember that Vimy Ridge was not their triumph alone. British artillery and the elite 51st Highland Division helped make victory possible (Desmond Morton, Significance of Vimy Ridge). Vimy Ridge is considered a defining moment in Canadian history because, it was Canada’s first time using a general to plan tactics and strategy’s, Canada was the only country that succeeded on capturing Vimy Ridge, lastly all Canadian
Aspects of Trench Warfare 1. Trenches were built in an attempt to continue the war as both sides had reached a stalemate. There was a rush for the sea and then they found nothing else could happen so they dug in. The resulting trench system on the Western Front not only covered the equivalent of 25,000 miles (enough to encircle the world) but also stretched non-stop from Belgium to Switzerland.
Sports are a significant part of society and spectators enjoy particular events regardless of the type. However, there are many players who develop special working and social relationships with whom they are participating regardless of the type of sport. The relationship and how people interact with one another can be the determination of how successful a team can be. The particular film based on a true story that I chose is titled When the Game Stands Tall. This film consists of a high performing football team of De La Salle High School in the state of California. Jim Caviezel portrays the head coach (Bob Ladouceur) as a man with such vision and passion that goes beyond the fundamental principles of coaching the game of football. The football team had won 151 games without being defeated which is the highest winning record a team has had in the game of football. The film shows the internal struggles of the players in their lives as people, and how they perform on the field. It also shows the external tragic difficulties that they face while they attend and play for De Le Salle High School. In the movie, the head coach helps the students/players by not only coaching them but also showing them how to live a flourishing life by committing to endure difficult life situations and the way to overcome them. He helps teach the principles of brotherhood and companionship with the team that they build. In the movie, the head coach and the staff had taught the players
In the essay, “In the Combat Zone,” Leslie Marmon Silko writes for the purpose of explaining the hardships that women go through in their everyday lives, that men do not necessarily have to worry about. Through personal stories about her growing up with her father who taught her how to use guns and hunt, to actual encounters with dangerous men who could’ve potentially harmed her had she not been experienced, Silko provides real life examples of the dangers women face in their everyday lives. Women are at risk whenever they leave the safety of their home, and even may be at risk in their home as well. Being raised to depend on others for protection leaves women vulnerable to attacks that leave them defenseless. This is different than men who are raised in a way that gives them power and essentially puts them above women and eliminates this fear. We see this theme on page 734 when Silko writes, “Men who have been in combat know the feeling of being a predator’s target, but it is difficult to men to admit admit that we women live our entire lives in a combat zone.”

He afraid he will be a coward running away in battle and so this urge him to ask others how they feel about being in battle. He asked Jim and Wilson, the loud soldier. Their answer disappointed him because they did not fear the battle. He also want to be in the war as soon as he could so he will be able to know that he is a coward or a courageous.
