Winston Churchill contributed many things to World War II. He was ordained as Prime Minister and Minister of Defense by King George VI. Within a couple of hours of Churchill’s ascension as Prime Minister, Germany commenced its western offensive invading the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. Two days after the attack German forces entered France and Britain stood alone against the onslaught of Germany. Churchill quickly began placing intelligent and respectable men in key positions to help his country and to protect his people. On June 18, 1940, Churchill gave a speech to the House of Commons warning them that the battle of Britain was about to begin.
