I hope you had a good winter break. I wanted to touch base with you letting you know that I am still going to be working at STEM this semester. Also, since there is no school today my work schedule will be a different this week then it will others. For this week I will be working Tuesday: 8am-12pm Wednesday: 11am-1pm Thursday: 8am-1pm I hope these times work out let me know if they need to be changed in anyway. Since this is the first week of the new semester for me it may take me a week or two to figure out what working schedule will fit best with me. Hope you guys don't mind. Again, hope you guys had a good break and I will see you bright and early tomorrow!
Most students enjoy summer vacation, but some educators feel that the summer break is too long and that students do not retain information as easily when they return in the fall. Some people argue that there should be year-round schools, where there would by a 3-4 week break in the summer, a long winter break, and a week off in the spring and fall. I disagree with those people. The biggest problem with this schedule would be the summer break, it just isn’t long enough. I believe year-round school is a bad idea because summer break is a time when students get to take a break, parents may not be able to find a caretaker during the shorter breaks, and schools may not have sufficient funds.
Getting rid of summer break would hurt a lot of students; they do not have the patience to go to school during the school year—taking away what is supposed to be their vacation could possibly break them.
Imagine a school year that never ends. A year without summer, relaxation, and vacations with family. Summer is the time of year that every student cannot wait arrive. But what if the playful time filled with friends, smiles, and laughter did not exist? What if school remained in session year-round? This is happening in 3,181 schools across America and is gradually increasing (edweek.org). The government calls it: Year-Round School. There are both many pros and cons to this controversial issue in today’s education; however, Year-Round School is not a good decision because of the social outcomes, the financial costs, and the academic effects that Year-Round School burdens on the students.
Welcome Back! Here’s hoping your Thanksgiving holiday break afforded you the joy of family, the gift of friends, and the very best from our extended weekend. Thanks to you and our dedicated staff, our children have had a seamless transition back to a wonderful week of learning.
Have you ever thought about having school all year round? Students should not go to school all year round. Students should not go to school all year round because students minds would not be as clear and our health would be better off with the normal schedule.
In America most public schools go to school on a 10-month system established when America was mainly agriculture, and the children had to work in the fields during the summer. Year-round school was first used in the early 1900s to fight overcrowding and underfunding. It wasn’t until the 60s that year-round school was used again when a school in California became the first school to use it since 1904. I believe that the school schedule is fine the way it is. Some of the cons of year-round school are students can’t have summer jobs, most programs such as lunch and buses cost more, and extracurricular conflicts.
The idea of having a year round school schedule has been thought about at the state level throughout the country for many years, especially in the past two decades. The driving idea behind the argument is that if year round school is put into place, there would be an increase in academic performance because students will not forget what they learned so easily. This change of schedule will obviously have a lasting effect on society, with child care, vacations, regular living, and social life would have a major change on every family. Other operations would have a dramatic change if summer vacation would be taken away. Federal and state government, churches, businesses, the school’s community, and public
The topic of year around school has been brought up many times throughout my time in school. Though it has been brought up, it has not actually been considered by my fellow students and I. We have all taken surveys regarding it and most of the people I know have been against it. With our school being in a small town in Iowa I do not think having year round schooling would benefit us or the community.
Take a second to remember your last Thanksgiving break of high school, senior year and midterms are coming up soon. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 is a day I will never forget, only two days before the day that was dedicated to being thankful for everything in your life. On this day one of my very best friends was taken from me. Though this tragic event created a huge obstacle for many of us, we knew that we needed to get through it together as a school and most importantly as a community. Many of the students and faculty in my school were very close to her and for some, this was a time that classes were being missed and that their grades were dropping due to not being able to take the stress. Administration soon realized

The minute that everybody has been expecting for has at long last arrived. The people are inclining toward the edge of their seats, listening for the last chime to ring to unleash them to freedom. We all love it when summer vacation has arrived, but the time just passes by so fast. A high percentage of the students want there to be a longer summer vacation, but are there really any benefits? Well yes in fact a longer vacation will be associated with many benefits such as increased social life, health benefits, and educational plus financial gains.
I hope your semester is going well, its crazy to believe that the semester is half way over! I was hoping to come to your office hours sometime after fall break to discuss options for my after graduation plans as well as just to chat. Are there certain dates/times that work best for you? My Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays tend to be the most open. I look forward to hearing back from you and I hope you have a relaxing fall
Winter break means spending quality time with relatives and enjoying time off from work and school. However, in the spirit of the holiday season, it’s also a time to give back. If winter break is being spent bored at home looking for something to do then why not spend it volunteering and helping others. Here’s a compilation of places that you can volunteer at this break.
Every May, schools across America exile their kids to the chaotic abyss known as summer. The general public view summer as a time of relaxation, but an increasing number of kids are using this time to commit crimes, get in trouble, and act disrespectfully. This may seem unacceptable, but the worst consequence of summer is not what kids are doing; on the other hand, the worst consequence of summer is what kids are not doing–learning. In the 1700s, school systems in America incorporated summer as a time for children to help their parents on the farm. Over time, as farming began to dwindle, summer evolved as a break from learning; consequently, children began to remember less. To accommodate for the
It's Ruti Chekol, and I am a 10th grade student. I would like to tell you a bit about school. Since I began high school the exams are getting more difficult and with more material. Communication is my favorite subject. This year we are volunteering as part of a school project, I volunteering by cleaning the school's lab. It is my first year of high school, and a busy year academically wise. There are many things that we need to submit in different subjects. I can't wait for the Passover vacation, which is also my favorite season. I love Passover because of Lil HaSeder, which is when the entire family gets together.
