They heard the wolves catch their scent. The breath of the hungry wolves filled the night as they creeped over the tree that covered the frightened men. “BANG!” coming from the distance an unknown gunshot scared the wolves off, giving a glimmer of hope for the trapped men. Hearing that the forest had settled the men decided that the coast was clear. “Help me try and push the tree off,” said Ulrich to Georg, and by some sort of miracle Ulrich was able to free himself. “Hold still I’ll find something to wipe your blood.” Ulrich ripped off part of his shirt using it as a rag to help clear up Georg’s eyesight. Ulrich helped Georg up and out from under the tree. The two men decided that they should go out and investigate the mysterious gunshot …show more content…
Do you think that they were the gunshot?” replied Ulrich. The two wondered of the outcome of their two parties, as they neared closer the position of the gunshot. Both men had lost their weapons when the tree had fallen on top of them. They were both defenseless in a part of the woods that was hardly ventured into. “Do you think that something terrible happened to our men?” questioned Ulrich. “You shouldn’t think like that they are strong capable men.” answered Georg. They continued on their journey staying quiet as they did not want to disturb their surroundings too much. A deer shot past them as if running from something. The two men got low hiding in the bristle of the forest. They waited for a while making sure nothing was near. Once it was determined that the coast was the clear they continued on their venture staying cautious. “What could have possibly have scared off a deer like that? It could be anything and it could be near” warned Georg. Ulrich cautioned to Georg to lower his voice and pointed into the nearby trees. There they were able to see a cabin outside of their area. There they found Ulrich’s men held hostage by a large man. “That's why they never made it!” said
The protagonist is excited about the hunting trip, but initiates the event with a sense of innocence and curiosity. Another factor in Andy's willingness to go hunting may be in order to please her father or show that she is capable of doing everything a boy can do. While the hunters spend multiple days searching for game, Andy is the only one who comes in contact with the deer. While the characters hunt in the location where Andy saw the deer, Andy prays that they finally get a deer. On a second occurrence, she comes in contact with a deer. This time, the deer does not run away and stays stationary, grazing in the open. When the hunters finally spot the deer, Andy is asked if she wants to shoot it. Initially, she is frightened by the idea, but collapses under the weight of the peer pressure exerted by the impatience of Charlie and the expectancy of her Father. She finally holds the gun in her hand and aims the gun at the doe's chest area. While her mind began to blank out, she stopped thinking about the fact that she had never shot a living creature before and pulled the trigger. After the shot had been made, the doe eventually fell to the snow covered ground, and was assumed dead. Upon seeing the doe laying on the ground, the hunters walked steadily towards it, congratulating Andy for her clean shot. While
All the men got up and ran because they were afraid that he would shoot them all then and there. Ulrich calmly walked back where Georg was standing at the well. He was finally done washing up. All the blood came from a small gauge on the top of his scalp. Georg still smelt like blood, so Ulrich took him in his house to give him some new clothing and to get him bandaged up. Ulrich’s lovely wife was sound asleep when they were in the house. Georg changed and wrapped his head in cloth to close up the cut so it does not get infected.
The story opens by introducing Ulrich von Gradwitz. Ulrich’s grandfather had a famous lawsuit which created a feud between the neighbors. It later grew to a personal feud between Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym. “;if their was a man in the world whom he detested and wished ill to, it was Georg Znaeym,”(Saki 83). Ulrich is in the woods waiting for some beast to come within range of his vision. Ulrich later became face to face with his biggest enemy, Georg Znaeym. “Each had a rifle in his hand, each had hate in his heart and murder uppermost in his mind.”(Saki 83). A beech tree had fallen on top of Ulrich and Georg and they were stuck underneath it. “ His heavy shooting boots have saved his feet from being crushed to pieces,” (Saki 84) Ulrich offers to become friends with Georg and their feud disappeared. Saki’s purpose was to make sure to get to know someone
They had to retreat or else they would easly be taken out. They fell back to the forest to their right as fast as they could. Once they were able to gather themselfs, they realized that they had some
“Thank you so much, Nick, you saved my life.” Nick said, as he climbed on John’s back.
Bang! A loud gunshot startled the deer and her fawns. Immediately, the deer hid her fawns under the dead evergreen tree. The fawns were shaking, the littlest one didn’t want his mom to leave.
This is an important message because if you wait too long you may never get the chance to reconcile. The two main characters face a person vs person conflict because of an old feud between their families. The feud begins when Ulrich’s family becomes the owners of a piece of land that George's family was living on; since then the two families won’t get along with each other. Ulrich and Georg spend almost all of their lives hating each other, but then they are put into a tough situation, and they decide to put the old family feud behind them. Although they decide to make peace between the families, it is too late and they both end up dead. This is ironic because in the beginning they hated each other and both wanted to kill the other; but in the end they are both killed not by each other but by
The wind moved the long grass and was usually quiet this time of night, but there was a disturbing feeling for Eloy as he returned to the feast. The people continued throughout the night with High Chief Haugen joining as Princess Bayleigh lead the group of warriors patrolling outside tall walls of the wolf clan camp. Without warning a small pack of wild beasts appeared amongst the people and High Chief Haugen. “Guards!!!” High Chief Haugen shouted over the fearful screams of the people and deep bellowing roars coming from the wild beasts as they lunged and sunk their claws and long sharp fangs into the people trying to escape. Princess Bayleigh and her warriors began to through spears and use sharp blades to protect their high chief and
The two are involved in a land dispute that goes back generations when the land was claimed by the Ulrich's family. Ulrich, assuming that Georg is poaching on his land, goes out in search of him with the intent to shoot him. However when the men come face to face, fate intervenes and a large tree falls on the both of them, trapping them. While being trapped they argue about whose men will arrive first to save their master and kill the other. When Ulrich hears noises, he is relieved men are running to help them.
As he took the animal back home saw a flash of light in the forest. Being wary of danger, he was instantaneously alert. As he stepped carefully toward the source of the disturbance. As he got closer he heard deep voices speaking in a strange language
“Just be quiet!” Neither of them knew if there was anybody within a mile, the jungle only had the sounds of birds that seemed to intentionally break the silence. John and Kate paced towards the only light besides the moon in the jungle. They came up to an opening in the forest, no trees or pants, just grass. The sight of five sleeping men with guns and a dying down fire startled both of
Without another word, he fled from the building and settled himself beneath a tall elm tree down the lane. He sat there in the dark, waiting for the tavern to close. He needed to be alone with his thoughts for a time without Gawain needling him.
The warriors cleaned and readied their weapons, and the healers got their medical kits together. The spies examined their gadgets closely for any flaws. After a short half hour of packing their belongings they ventured off deeper into the forest.
However, when they wake up they find mysterious tracks when and they decide to follow them. When the tracks disappear they find themselves lost in the forest.
Among the people, a shorter figure in the front froze. He heard the rustling in the forest and tried not to let fear cloud their judgment.
