Remember When 60 Years Ago The Woman’s Club is sponsoring a Christmas lighting contest and is offering prizes for the home most attractively decorated for Christmas. This applies to all homes in Edmonton and nearby. First prize is $10, second is $5, and third is $2.50. The judge will be from outside the county. The Nativity Scene in the corner of the courthouse yard has attracted much attention and favorable comments. It is sponsored by the Younger Women’s Club and the work was done by a committee composed of Mrs. Naomi Hays, Mrs. Betty McDonald, Mrs. Lucy Forbes, and Mrs. Allene Fraser as chairman. The visits offer residents an opportunity to interact with the dogs and enjoy an opportunity that they would not normally get. Studies have shown that ‘pet therapy’ is helpful to both the patients and the animals. A gifted whittler – Seated on the porch steps of Subtle Store and Post Office, Huston Hurt holds an old-fashioned churn dasher and a length of chain, which he whittled out of wood with his pocket knife.
