When World War II started women obtained many jobs. In 1941, American women started to take care of houses, found jobs, and took care of their children. Women during this time period went to work in factories, had to sew clothes, and shipped the clothing for military use. They had to fill the spots of the men that went off to war. They had to fulfill many jobs that women had never had to work before, because it was a man’s job. After World War II, many women lost jobs, returned to their homes as housewives, and lost their financial independence.
