Women In The Workforce Discrimination

Discrimination in the United States, has been, and continues to be a very large problem in our country. Although, the country has continued to make outstanding strides on getting rid of discrimination in this country as a whole, it tends to stick around. One of the largest controversies in the workforce today, is that women are continuing to be discriminated against by receiving less pay than males. This problem of women receiving less pay than males in the workforce is known as the Gender Wage Gap.

For many women they feel that they are doing the same work as men, but not receiving the same pay or compensation for the same amount of work. It has been show that women do not make the same amount as men for the same work. Also it has been show that many people have not received jobs because of their race or gender. I feel that if someone is doing the same work as another person they should be getting equal pay and someone should not be denied a career opportunity if they are qualified because of their race of gender. People often say that inequality is a thing of the past, however it has been a serious problem since the dawning of civilization itself, and it is still so today. Women are often seen as lesser beings than men, and are treated accordingly. It is getting better, and women are starting to take their rightful places as equals in the workforce, and as equals in general. However, the world still has a long way to go before the inequality and mistreatment of women comes to a complete stop.

Women in general have been discriminated by men that don’t believe in the power of women. Over the course of time, some men discriminate women by particular things that make them men are superior then women. Women are strong not only physically but emotionally and mentally, but some men don’t seem to notice yet. There are people that think men and women aren’t in the same level, and they don’t give women the opportunity to show it. Throughout years in America people have found evidences that there is a wage gap between two genders. Women deserve to be equally paid just as men are being paid. Both genders work the same amount of hours, but have different pay checks; this is unfair because women shouldn’t be paid less just for being a woman. This is an act of discrimination for both genders from society.

A common dilemma that the nation faces today is gender discrimination in the workplace. Women who possess the same level of competence and aptitude as men are still getting paid less in the same careers. Studies show that, “Women are paid 79 cents for every dollar paid to men” (Goldin). How can this inequality be solved? It can be easily resolved by paying men and women in the same careers equal wages.

A large number of people will continuously believe that women do not have an equal right concept of women getting paid the same amount while being in the same work field. Although years have passed by, women are still more likely to get paid less because of their sex type. Not just that but also it is easier for men to find a better job. The fact that not many things have changed toward the objective of women not being enough or women being weaker even after many years, young women have proven society itself that women are capable of so much. Discrimination is a huge deal in many countries today and not only do women feel left out but it makes younger women feel like they do not have a chance to do the things men are able to do. On the other hand, men are not always simply given every single type of job as a choice. Some jobs are just not meant for men. For example jobs such as a cosmetologist or a fashionista in the eye of society should not be done by men, otherwise, he is known to be gay or unreasonable.
