Human trafficking has been identified as a profitable illicit business. Sexual exploiters have profited off the sexual exploitation of women and minors, while businesses have profited from nonconsensual labor from minors who cannot express their own interest. (Marcus, et.al, 2002, p.47). The regional director of “Not for Sale” makes a valid point about profitable gains of human trafficking. “You can sell a bag of drugs once, but you can sell a person multiple times,” (Marcus, et.al, 2002, p.47). That quote is basically the mindset of traffickers who look forward to making a profit and decide partake in this illicit business. Human trafficking is one of the many faces of organized crime. Human trafficking is a broad term which contains trafficking for the purpose of sex along with the exploitation of labor. Currently, there are 20.9 million victims of sex slavery (Stacy.j.cecchet 2014 482) whom have or are suffering suffer inhumane circumstances and consequences. Sex trafficking is one of the largest criminal activities in the world (Stacy 249). Vulnerable women and children are taken advantage of and thrown into sex slavery, yet there is no explanation available as to how women and children are taken and thrown into the industry within countries such as Canada and the United States of America (482 Stacy j Cecchet 2014), which have human rights protection. Sex slavery leaves everlasting mental and physical effects on the abused women and children being trafficked. Even though sex trafficking is a crime it is also, for a lack of better words, an industry which would cease to exist if it was not for the supply and demand for women and children.

As extensive humans being have been on earth, there has been some method of awfulness present. Have you ever felt alone with nobody there to help you? Have you ever felt the pressure to preform or face getting beat or threatened to be killed? This is a life that people all around the world have to face because of human trafficking. Different types of human cruelty include parental and spousal abuse, genocide, racial discrimination, and bullying. These are all techniques of mistreatment that stand out in one’s mind. However, there is one type of mistreatment that people may forget is human trafficking. Human trafficking is a horrible association where victims are controlled and abused by others. This type of growing business of trafficking has become a difficulty that concerns practically each country in the world. Some countries are making changes though it has seen small to no achievement. The craving for people to kidnap innocent people and put them in exertion for their own revenue needs to be put to end. Human trafficking is problematic because of the manner it destroys innocent people and the demand for such trafficking to be a force it produces a huge problem that needs to become a top priority for governments around the world. Trafficking innocent people is a criminal industry that revenues from enslaving people for sexual servitude and forced labor. There is absence of resources towards this matter that makes defined statistics almost difficult to gather. Human trafficking has a massive absence of awareness. Without funding for human trafficking makes working towards a solution very difficult. Without correct funds to place an end towards human trafficking. This demonstrate that there are many methods to get into the trafficking business and that people should be conscious that there are individuals out there that will take a harmless person.

While people think of human trafficking as just sexual assault and the selling of women, there is actually way more to it. One part is the selling of men and women to work in the fields and peoples houses in the act of slavery. People like the criminals believe others need to do work for them, which is the act of acquiescence. Others believe this is wrong and that all are born equal and should have the same rights. From all the people that disagree with human trafficking there has been a law created that staated this act was illegal. The wages and working conditions that slaves receive and are put in aren’t worth the amount of work they put in each week. Due to harsh and rough conditions that come along with human trafficking and slavery laws have been enforced, but that doesn’t mean that people will stop performing this unlawful act.

There is an ethical epidemic that is plaguing this world and it is called Human Trafficking. Human trafficking is a serious crime that violates common human rights by trading humans and forcing them to complete acts of coerced labor, or sex slavery. It is the 2nd largest criminal operation in the world next to the drug cartel and it is done to make money off these innocent lives (Ottisova, 2016). The illegal trade and exploitation of human beings for forced labor, prostitution and reproductive favors is unethical and unacceptable by our society because many United States organizations are starting to work together to stop these intolerable acts to end the suffering and pain.

“Globalization influences human trafficking as traffickers take advantage of new transparent borders, broadband communication, and economic upheaval to prey on those most vulnerable … people are largely defined by their economic worth, and since the most vulnerable have only their bodies to sell (labor … sex) … human beings become commodities and victims” (Burke 2013). Additionally, chapter four defines population and migration as an explanation for human trafficking. As the world’s population increases dramatically, there are many poor and vulnerable individuals who are forced to find a way to survive. “Traffickers are resourceful, inventive, and opportunistic, and can find a way to manipulate … population growth … there is an increase in the supply of potential victims who traffickers can exploit and from whom they can profit” (Burke 2013). Victims are driven into human trafficking because they are unable to sustain themselves living in poverty, or are vulnerable as an immigrant or refugee.

Human trafficking is a crime. Victims no longer have their rights as human beings. Bill Flores once said, “Imagine having all of your freedoms taken away, being forced to work against your will, and constantly living under the threat of violence - in short, being forced to live as a slave.
