In ancient Rome, the plebeians had fewer rights than the predictions. Certain people had certain types of citizenship, like Full citizenship, limited citizenship, and no citizenship. The men in ancient Rome had full citizenship. Men could vote, become a senator, and they were protected by the law. In ancient Rome, the Men were considered to be the most important. Did women have any significant role to play in the world of Roman politics and intellectual culture?
As the millenniums pass and years go by, the world continues to evolve each day. Across the world, in every society, men and women have specific roles that they carry out. During ancient times, in most cultures, women were inferior to men. This is still true in many countries today. It has taken American women many centuries to have gained the rights and privileges they have today. Women have made many immense achievements, fought for their rights and stood up for what they believed in during the past century. It is very important to understand the role of women in history because they have played an imperative part of how each society functioned. In Classical Athens, women and men were citizens however men were superior to the women.

The role of women in ancient Rome is not easily categorized; in some ways they were treated better than women in ancient Greece, but in other matters they were only allowed a very modest degree of rights and privileges. One thing that does seem clear is that as the city-state of Rome evolved from its early days into a more complex society; women were not always limited to secondary roles. In some areas of Roman society, women were allowed more freedoms than in many other ancient civilizations.
The Roman Republic received a C when it came to promote rule of law. It got a C because they created a new form of government called a republic. A republic gave citizens the right to vote. After all citizens could only vote which means if you weren’t a citizen you couldn’t vote. For instance, woman didn’t have the right to vote because they weren’t a citizen even though they lived in Rome.

In agreement, Document A relays that adult males are allowed to vote in both Athens and Rome, but Rome includes females, male and female children, and sons of freed slaves (Document A).
Rome had a better system due to the vast population, wider acceptance of citizens, and an organized Senate. It is important to include those specific attributes in an empire for organization and prevention of overpopulation. According to the background essay, citizens of a state or empire not only meant meeting certain responsibilities, but also enjoying certain rights. Citizenship is also defined as a status given by a government. In the modern world citizenship involves a balance between individual rights and responsibilities. In Rome however, the idea of a good citizen was particularly different. In contrast to modern day citizens, Roman citizens were looked upon how they acted with their family, neighbors, and property. The Roman republic met the common good because they met the 5 purposes of government. I gave an A to Rome when it came to providing public services, they providing public baths to the Roman Republic, Rich and poor were able to go into the public baths, Men and women had separate public baths because it would be weird if they were together… This benefited Rome because water could be used for Drinking, Public baths, Food, Cleaning etc. I gave Roman rights a C because of the way some people were treated for example: woman. The Roman republic had rights and some Romans did not have any rights at all I would give them a C for these reasons.
Women have played important roles throughout history. They have been responsible for the rise and fall of nations, sustaining families, and have been the focal point of worship in ancient religions. Moving forward in history, women's roles have continually changed. Their status as matriarchs changed as the more advanced ancient civilizations rose. The patriarchal societies of ancient Greece and Rome viewed women differently from some societies of past eras. The study of the economic and political status of women, their rights, and their contributions to both these ancient societies reveals how views change throughout history.

The reason for this is, they did well at meeting the common good in providing public services and by preparing for common defence, but when it comes to promoting rule of law they didn’t do so well. The reason they didn’t do well is because they wouldn’t give fair punishments.
Romans were a civilization that originated after the Greek culture. They, like Greeks, saw an extreme significance in the idea of a love for one’s country and loyalty. The Romans, however, were more concerned with public affairs such as education, sanitation, and health. They held a strong connection with their ancestors and wished to imitate what the ancient Romans did. Although Romans rejected the idea of a Rex, or king, they favored the common hero. They wanted a leader who a “regular Joe”, someone who was average and could still led an average life after doing extraordinary things. The Romans also had a very defined government that was broken into consuls, senate, and assembly. There were two consuls who served in place of the king as the leaders of the Roman Empire. Next in succession was the senate, comprised only of patricians who debated and passed legislation. Finally, there was the assembly made for the plebeians to approve laws.
Ancient Rome was one of the biggest and most influential civilizations in history. The world we know would not be the same without its involvement. The importance of it is great and undeniable. Unfortunately, most of the works and sources we have today are written by men and lack sources about women in the ancient Rome. Most of the time in history books, women’s roles and achievements are hardly even mentioned. Even though the Roman Empire was very progressive and
After the Ancient Greeks lost their power and faded away, Rome took its place as the new power. From a republic to an empire, Rome quickly grew into the world’s leading nation. Unlike Greece, Rome did not focus on innovation but rather shifted their attention on improving and adapting methods that already exist to create a more practical and “Roman” style. Rome’s worldview of Utilitarianism, which can be seen in all aspects of Roman life including government, architecture and literature united the nation into a distinct and prosperous empire.
