I have always been fascinated with the way that floor plans are drawn out and how blueprints are laid out. When I was a kid, I would play with legos and finish building a structure within an hour or two. I would then take it apart and build something different with the
Carpentry is a extremely old skill. It actually comes from Old French, charpentier, which means a carriage maker. Carpentry was one of the first real professions
A person is capable of learning a skill if they put their time and effort towards what they feel passionate about. Has someone ever wanted to develop an ability that you practice it for hours a day? I did, I have spent around 100 hours a year trying to perfect my loving skill, volleyball. It was a hardworking skill, but enjoyable as well. It is my way of life. The most important years of my life was my volleyball experience in High School.
Teachers effectively support woodworking with preschoolers to ensure it is safe and meaningful in a variety of ways. A teacher should properly introduce the tools, and their uses. In addition, teachers should encourage safety with rules and elaborate about why the rules are in place. A teacher can make woodworking meaningful by sparking interest, documenting progress, offer assistance, provide vocab, and exciting new activities.
It's really amazing what some people are able to create out of a few pretty simple items. For example, some are able to turn old junk into fantastic pieces of art. Naturally, we don't all have this gift of creativeness, but that doesn't mean we can't create some pretty simple, but beautiful, projects of our own.
Woodworking requires a bit of inspiration, and sometimes that is difficult to find. One of the ways we stay inspired is by admiring the work of other craftsmen and letting their ideas and designs help us shape our own. Raney Nelson is one such craftsman. He is skilled, dedicated and produces pieces that woodworkers salivate over. He to, however, needs a little inspiration from time to time.
Pictured above is a hobby that I am interested in trying, beaded Christmas ornaments and these are way different than from the ones in the late 1960’s. There are kits available at stores and online of course but many times I do not have the time to
One of the wonderful things about a hands-on class is that the objectives are fairly clear: create this particular item. The object varies, naturally, from week to week. For instance, at the beginning of my time in the Wood Tech classroom, they were making picture frames. Last I was in the classroom, they were working on both cutting boards and keepsake boxes. The reason that students work on two projects simultaneously is also clearly expressed, both in writing (on the board) and orally: there are a limited supply of tools available. The second project allows students to keep making daily progress when they are stalled on their first one.

1.1 Analyse the application of pedagogical principles in own area of specialism. Teaching a specialism of any matter requires the teacher themselves to be competent and confident with their own abilities first. To be a competent carpenter requires lots of experience, dedication and time – without dedication, you will not put in the time and in turn not gain the experience. Hence dedication is a fundamental element, which is expressed to all the construction students at Harlow College, in order for them to succeed. Dedication goes hand in hand with motivation, motivation is developed from enjoyment. Therefore making a positive rapport between student and teacher is a very important because ‘good teacher-student relationships are based on mutual respect. The student respects the teacher for their teaching skills, personal qualities, knowledge and professionalism’ (Petty, 2004) which puts emphasis on the teacher who is at the core of the motivation behind any prosperous student.
because you needed it."- Amy Sedaris. Master craftsmen during the Medieval Ages created items needed for the kingdom to thrive. Craftsmen included candle makers, shoemakers, and farmers, but the most famous craftsmen were blacksmiths, carpenters, and masons. Every type of craftsmen were in groups called guilds and every guild needed to cooperate. If one guild failed to

As we grow and become more handy, wise and skillful, we can refine this passion for building houses. Around the world, there are
