These restaurants come under the unorganized sector. There are various associations of these restaurants at the national, state and district level like National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), Hotel and Restaurant Association (Western India), Association of Hotel and Restaurants (AHAR), Pune Restaurants and Hotel Association (PRAHA), etc. It is not mandatory to be a member of these associations, but a large number of them become its members because these associations provide the necessary support and acts as a voice to put its grievances forward to the concerned authorities. In the restaurant business workforce diversity may have different importance when compared to its uses in other businesses. This industry usually recruits people either through walk-ins or through referrals. Walk-in method is usually used to recruit workers for service and menial jobs, whereas the method of referrals is used for recruiting of important skilled and managerial employees. Also this industry believes in promoting their in house staff as the workers are already accustomed to the working conditions and are trained to conducted the duties that are required Training usually provided to the employees is on the job training, as a result the workers learn when they are working.
