Working For A Retail Company

I’ve been working for a retail company for the past four years ever since I was a senior in high school. I wanted to move up further in the company because I enjoy working there and I love what I do which is providing excellent customer service, meeting and working with new people and helping the company I work for (old navy) achieve their financial and philanthropic goals. After about three years of working there I got promoted to assistant manager and that’s when I realized that this is what I want to do for a living. A year or so after I got promoted I want to move further up within the company and that’s when I ran into my first major roadblock. My general manger: Carlos Garcia said, that I was unable to go any further because of education requirements meaning I needed some sort of degree to excel any further within the company. That’s when I began to wonder which is valued more a degree or experience and in my opinion I think its experience. My whole life I’ve been told to go to school and get an education but I never truly saw the purpose of schooling unless you want to become a teacher or a doctor, something of that sort. I’ve always believed in apprenticeships which help apprentices or protégés build their careers from apprenticeships. To elaborate further, apprentice training is done while working for an employer who helps the apprentices learn their trade or profession, in exchange for their continued labor for an agreed period after they have achieved quantifiable…
