Month 1: The Role Majority of students in placement have at least two week hand over period working and learning alongside the current industrial placement student. As for me, I had no hand over period nor did I had any induction or training to kick start my placement year. From day one, I was introduced to all sort of tasks that needed to be completed and the deadlines by which completion was required. After my manager instructed me how to do my tasks once. I was given the opportunity to work by myself on the tasks at hand. The role has me working alongside the European Commercial and Bids Pricing (C&BP) team in identifying trends on the pricing behaviour in certain product segments and market condition across Europe. The report is heavily based on Microsoft Excel and will be key for the country pricing managers across Europe to benchmark their decisions. This will allow me to develop my excel skills by improve my formula, formatting and error correction skills. While I was taught how to deal with the standard process by my manager, any problems that occur need to be dealt with intuitive knowledge gained about excel and how Xerox’s reporting system works. Also, I am developing the pricing library and maintaining the website for European commercial and Bids pricing. On top of this, I am also involved in a number of ad hoc projects to support various activities within the European (C&BP), such as supporting the pricing set up of new product launch analysis on specific
We learned how to read and understand financial reports allowing us to determine what areas interact and how to balance the effects of decisions. We were able to learn hot to pick out the important variables in business reports to examine our results in comparison to other teams.”
After being confirmed in post all staff have a full induction day (refer to template) which ‘covers’ all aspects of the role including policy and legislation. They are also delivered ‘in house training’ and can access the various training on offer beyond the organisation. Areas for professional development are discussed at supervision and staff can request a particular form of training. If I feel that they need to familiarise themselves with particular aspects or need a more in depth understanding, then I will source specific training and recommend it.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first placement and feel as though I have learnt a great deal in just 8 weeks. I am happy with the feedback I have received, it corresponds to my own self-reflection and I believe it will help me develop and improve many of my skills.
The object of this course and this project is to provide you with a realistic situation that you are likely to face in the real world business environment. You'll be working with limited information, limited support from your client, within a limited time frame - and yet, you have to get up to speed in a new area quickly, and make informed professional recommendations based on your research and analysis.
My Placement Learning Opportunity (PLO) took place within the voluntary sector at an organisation named Extern. The project I specifically worked in was the Intensive Family Support Service (IFSS). Referrals for this service were mainly submitted by social services however, request for service could also be made through the doctors, housing executive, youth justice agency or the police. IFSS provided a tailored care plan specific to each individual/family in order to meet the needs required. It offers a more 'hands on ' approach so that the outcome is as positive as possible. My role within this PLO setting was to work alongside relevant legislation, policies and procedures and engage with service users and their families to meet
Determine whether the responsibility reports needed to track performance should be created by department, function, or manager, using a costing method of your choice. Based on the costing method you selected, determine the type of data needed to track and evaluate performance to control costs such as cost per unit, cost per hour, etc. Be specific with your examples.
There are many types of systems and support formats for professional development. A thorough induction from the beginning of employment or placement can highlight possible future training requirements and the staff handbook with policies and procedures can be issued. Once an induction is completed the member of staff will have several sit down meetings during the 90 day trial period, this will allow time to organise any gaps in training, allow the staff member/ volunteer or student to familiarise themselves with the routine and
On February 16, 2016, I was assigned this case to follow up. This case involves Ms. Jayla Ann Moore an Edison High School student in Fairfax County who now resides at 307 Yoakum Parkway Apt# 411. I contacted Jamie McCalister who told me her daughter is home until the school decides if they are letting her finish the school year or transferring her to T.C. Williams High School.
You will also be required to work in an office setting for a minimum of 15 hours a week for 15 weeks for a total of 225 hours for the 16-week semester. This may be a paid or an unpaid position. You may find your own position or I will assist you if you like. The employer must fill out a training form detailing the experience you will gain at the position. I have a training agreement form that I will supply which is to be filled out in advance by you and your employer. Most students are paid for the time worked; however, that is not a requirement for the class. It may be an unpaid position. Your employer does not have to retain you for the 15 weeks if the need is not there or your work is inferior.
You have also set up a formal weekly meeting to discuss the KPI results generated from the accounting information system and their individual reports. You also use this meeting to emphasise the concept of team achievement and that financial resources should be allocated to the greatest need. You also address where they can achieve the greatest return that is in line with the marketing objectives.
I have had some excel experience, however, it has been a very long time since I have had the class and
My very first experience with writing a business report resulted when my Capsim group wrote our briefing note to our board of directors. In this briefing note, we were required to outline our strategies as a company in order to gain authorization from our board of directors to follow through with it into the simulation. This was a new learning experience as I had to communicate with my group to present our ideas in the briefing note, and as a group we had to effectively communicate to our board of
During the balance of the year, trainers prepared course materials and devoted time to learning
My first assignment was a request for bid (RFB), from the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA). This RBF for an eight hundred line item spare parts contract includes firm fixed pricing valid for a period of three years. I am working with the marketing team researching and logging data into the EXCEL bid work-up sheet. The data to be logged into the worksheet includes but is not limited to; the customer account number, all recent previous sale prices to CTA, current costing, current material lead times.
My adept analytical skills are demonstrated in my current role, where I regularly analyse information from several internal systems to identify patterns and trends related to operational communications issues and outage occurrences within the Service. This requires me to access the Service’s operational management system to filter through job entries and activity reports and correlate this to issue reports received through the IT service desk system. I correlate this data into a SharePoint
