I am contacting your company in response to a recent article published in your magazine. As a man of wealth, I take high offense to the “Workingman’s Ten Commandments” because it portrays jealousy and envy towards us in the upper class. Although I expect my employees to follow my every command wholly and completely, the word “master” makes employees sound like slaveholders. My workers have all the respect and dignity they deserve as immigrants to our fine country. Having laborers utterly loyal to my company is no sin by any man’s standards and should not be mocked like it is in this article. These commandments wrongly praise the unions, which are in place for the sole purpose to tear down the precedents and standards all major companies like
Work ethic is one of the biggest factors of American economy, is he support system of out country. Many have different opinions about this broad concept, Jonathan Klemen mentions in his essay “The protestant work ethic: just another “urban legend”” that work ethic is personalized by those who have found their passion and who have found work that provides social and personal satisfaction. He also believes that in order to achieve success you only have to work hard and concentrate in he principals of the protestant work ethic ideologies. Therefore I disagree with Klemen's conservative claims about the American work ethic because his expectations and presumptions are no where near as attainable as in he past, which effects the probability for certain social groups of people to achieve success.

The Ten Commandments brought to us through Moses were said to be man's first laws. According to the Bible society was devoid of morality with the people running rampant. There were no laws to govern the actions of society and this created a hedonistic environment with people doing whatever they wanted without regard to the ramifications of such behavior. Obviously unable to govern their own impulses and without any moral compass the society was in danger of breaking down completely. According to Moses' account God spoke to him through a burning bush and voila the Ten Commandments were born. I believe these to be a good example of Divine Command Theory. Of course, there are problems with this
Labor unions were established as a way for workers’ needs and grievances to be heard by management. According to Fossum (2012), “forming a union creates a collective voice to influence change at work” (p. 7). The collective voice of workers in a union holds much more power than any single employee’s voice. It can loudly draw attention to mistreatment or abuse of workers. The organized collective voice of workers demands to be treated in a fair way by its management in terms of wages, hours, benefits, and working conditions.
“If God does not exist, then everything is permitted,” in other words, if there turns out to be no God then nothing is morally wrong.
This is great post. The AFL-CIO does represent those of us that work; I was one that they with an employer vs. employee issue and we won. It is important for workers to have an organization like the AFL-CIO to go to when they disagree with the actions of their employer. Moreover, worker need the union to have a fair playing field (Minchin, 2013). Due to the fact, that employers have labor lawyers that are paid to protect them- who is there to protect the workers– AFL-CIO (Minchin, 2013).
In this paper, I will discuss about the Divine Command Theory and Euthyphro Problem and show how the Euthyphro Problem makes the Divine Command Theory morality arbitrary. Also, I will discuss why one does not have to reject the belief in God due to the Divine Command Theory cannot give a satisfactory answer to the Euthyphro Problem. First, I will define what the Divine Command Theory is and discuss its attractive features that answer the problem about the objectivity of ethnics. Second, I will define the Euthyphro Problem. Also, I will discuss how the Euthyphro Problem makes the Divine Command Theory morality arbitrary and show how it makes the doctrine of God’s goodness meaningless. Finally, I will discuss why one does not have to reject the belief in God just because one rejects the Divine Command Theory.
Over the last two centuries the relationship between organizations and their employees have changed as the result of interactions between the two groups and in response to changing governmental legislation. During this period, labor unions arose to advocate for workers and address the inherent power imbalance between individual workers and organizations (Thornton, 2013). In workplaces were unions represent employees, Foss (2008), defines labor relations as the “ongoing interchange between the union and the employer that identifies their common and specific interests and creates mechanism to clarify, mange, reduce and resolve conflicts over their specific interests” (p. 1). The legal framework governing the practice of labor relations is
The New Testament is characterized by the existence of imperative Biblical figures, with the likes of Jesus Christ, the Apostles, among many others. Peter was among Jesus’ first disciples. From his turning point, as manifested in the book of John 21, to his progress as a dedicated leader as manifested in Acts, to his final emergence as a co-elder as manifested in the Epistles of 1st and 2nd Peter, Peter exhibited traits of a transformational and charismatic biblical figure (Neil & William 409).
Divine Command Theory theorizes that God it is the author of moral law and the right actions are those willed by God and that God clearly defines right and wrong. This allows the concept that sometimes situations are only right or good because God deems it so. In the simplest terms, God can determine right and wrong since he is omnipotent. Since God is all powerful, he can establish moral norms. Critics of Divine Command Theory believe that if a specific action is only right because God wills it so then evil acts would also be right since God willed them into existence. For example, if God wills murder or torture than these actions would be considered morally right.
The American Civil War starting from 1861 till 1865 was regarded to be the most destructive war in the American history because it took away more than 700, 000 of lives. The war involved the struggle between South and North for the civil rights. After the Civil War, the United States was still divided by race, place, gender, and class in the 19th century and these four divisions retained for long. The war had enormous influence on American society, and it encompasses changes in many aspects of the society including the perception of the race, gender, class, and geography.
My 4-6 grade years were very different from a regular kids 4-6 grade. Most kids were all in the same school with all their friends and same teachers but me I was moving from school to school. It wasn’t really bad because I knew people at each school I went to but things would have been better if I stayed in one school with all my friends and didn’t always have to make new friends and meet new teachers etc.
I feel that so far in my life I have been able to challenge myself in everything I have taken part in. One of the prime examples where I have demonstrated this is in school. I have been able to push myself out of my comfort zone and though it may have been a bit trying at times it, everything I have gained from those experiences has led me to achieve even greater things. Throughout my career I have taken numerous honors classes and in addition to those also AP World History, AP Statistics, and Dual Credit English. I have excelled in these courses and I have even maintained a 3.9 GPA. All of my hard work in school also allowed me to be inducted into the National Honor Society. One of my biggest motivators that has helped to attain all that I have is my goal to graduate in the top 20 of my classes. To this point I have managed to accomplish my goal and am currently 18th in my class.
A poem is often defined as an art form used to express yourself, which evokes emotion in its reader. However, there are poems with another purpose besides making the audience feel something. Some poems are used to educate, inspire, or give advice to it’s readers. Two poems that offer excellent advice about how to live life happily and successfully are “If” by Rudyard Kipling and “The Paradoxical Commandments” by Dr. Kent M. Keith. Rudyard Kipling, the author of “If” and Dr. Kent M. Keith, the author of “The Paradoxical Commandments” give both similar and different advice, but this advice is directed at two different audiences because of the way it is presented in the poems.
Philosophers base the idea of objective morality on the assumption that some moral ideals are universal and should be the moral responsibility of everyone. Subjective moralists counter this argument by explaining that each moral decision is independent because each moral situation is unique to its own conditions. Ultimately, these two views shape the nature of moral philosophy and theology, each describing the different natures of morality (Hammond). These two theories have a large impact on the thinking process of humans on an everyday basis. This process then leads up to a person valuing different things more than others. The separation of objective and subjective theories all boil down to whether or not a theory is universal or not. A subjective theory has an absence of universal truths, and an objective theory has universal truths. Two vary popular theories that will take part in my research were the Divine Command Theory, and Natural law theory. Two theories that may seem similar, but in fact are very different.
