Decent and street organize the community socially, and the way they coexist and interact has particular important consequences for its residents, and particularly for children growing up in the inner city (Anderson, 32). An incident occurred one day at the end of program when the students were being dismissed at 3:20 P.M. Sinu was sitting on a nearby stoop and the people who lived there came out and started an altercation with the students. This altercation escalated rapidly, as glass bottles broken, baseball bats, and wooden poles were clutched within the hands of the students and the adults. This altercation was broken up as quickly as possible before any physical action occurred and the police were called and did not show up until after …show more content…
Concluding Overall, TRUCE staff should work on the way that they go about communicating with the students and focus on using elaborated code more often in order to provide them with a skill set that will prepare them for future interviews, jobs, and careers. Additionally, HCZ should consider slowing down the expansion of the organization so that they can provide more stable jobs, and livable wages for their staff, as the goal of the organization is to help diminish generational poverty. During my time at TRUCE, I witnessed many of the problems that are prevalent within non-profit organizations such as low job security, high turnover rates, and bad communication among the staff. After processing these different issues have definitely impacted my interest in working with non-profit organizations at the ground-level, in the future, I believe that I could be more effective at an administrative level. Nonetheless, this internship has given me insight into the deeper complications that occur within non-profit organizations and witness firsthand the troubles that face people who are working directly with the population the organization is serving. These observations will help me be more effective and mindful when making decisions at an administrative level. I believe that HCZ is a wonderful organization and is a strong model for other non-profit organizations, but all organizations have room further development and are not immune to
The diversity of nonprofit organizations, services provided and the problems faced shows that nonprofits require leadership with an in-depth understanding of the multifaceted nonprofit landscape. Understanding the culture of nonprofit work is also crucial and much easier to understand once you have been through a nonprofit management program. My career interests lead me towards an avocation of a deeper knowledge of strategic management/planning, legal structure and standards, increase my skills in quantitative analysis of policy, financial governance and developing fundraising strategies. These areas allow for macro management within the nonprofit
Service has been important in my life which has inspired me to pursue a minor in non-profit leadership. I witnessed firsthand how non-profits can positively influence the health of others through working within the pharmacy of Urban Ministries to provide medications for underprivileged citizens, leading simulating activities within Pruitt Health to increase the quality of treatment of the elderly, and providing nutritious meals within Clemson Community Care and a locally based organization called With Love from Jesus. The major issues concerning the non-profit sector include sustainability and the gathering of resources. I have viewed these issues through integrating science and service by assisting with teaching laboratory bench techniques to high-school
I decided for my social observation the mall would be a good place to start. I came there on a Friday evening when there should be plenty of people to watch. I also sat in the Barnes and Noble café after that to observe. I expected to see a lot of people shopping and conversing. A few things did stand out to me within the few hours I was there. Some things I didn’t expect to see. We are expected to behave a certain way in public determined by our culture as to what is acceptable. Some people stay well within the lines while some might stray outside the norms but never too far typically. Usually the ones to travel to the extremes are adolescents and teenagers. This is what I observed.
Carina: I observed a small group of four girls around the ages of 16-19 who were all getting burritos at Chipotle. They were still wearing their volleyball outfits and clearly belonged to a group of teenage athletes. They all seemed to be friends as they were laughing and talking loudly with one another. Their visit at Chipotle seemed to be some kind of social experience for them, much more so than just going there for nutrition. When ordering they asked each other: “what are you getting”, which showed that they valued each other’s food recommendation. The girl who asked her friend that question decided to order the same food as her friend. This shows the interdependence and great influence within the group.
On Wednesday 06/21/17 at 1437 hours I heard Auburn Animal Control G. Roller skating rinks and bowling alleys are two places that people visit for recreational purposes. Although I have gone bowling a couple of times, I have never gone roller skating at a rink. Some people do go by themselves, while others take along a friend or family member(s). I visited both of these facilities in order to conduct field research and do a micro-level analysis so as to gather primary data from the natural environment about society and patterns of social behavior. While in public, there are certain rules of behavior that are generally followed, which are considered acceptable by the members of society (McLeod, 2008). Individuals who do not follow these norms may be shunned or suffer some type of ramification (McLeod, 2008).
On 05/29/17, I was dispatched to 3434 W. Chestnut Expressway in reference to a forgery.
Many Sociologist believe that studying deviant behavior can be exciting, rewarding, and fun. However, the study of deviance can also be stressful, difficult and filled with difficulties that can be extremely challenging. There are many ways to research and study deviant behavior whether it be in covert or overt observation strategies. Covert observation is referred to as the study in which the researcher observes a social group and does not let the subjects know they are being studied (Inderbitzin, Bates, & Gainey, 2016, p. 575). Overt observation refers to public observation in which the researcher makes the social group aware that they are being observed and the researcher participates in the behavior (Inderbitzin, Bates, & Gainey, 2016, p. 577).
It is the intent of this paper to discuss an Executive Director of a non-profit organization. I personally chose this because I am the acting Executive Director of My Veteran Community, a non-profit aimed to help military veterans, service members, and their families. As My Veteran Community becomes fully operational I will officially be appointed this position. I have done private research to figure out what exactly an Executive Director does, but this research paper has given me the opportunity to take a more in depth approach to answering that question.
In my team there was Ole Hatlelid, Brant Millerborg, Paul Melvin, and I. We volunteered at a non-profit organization called Weatherford Food and Resource Center (WFRC). The Weatherford Food and Resource Center is an organization that provides food and non-perishable items for clients and their families, who can’t afford to buy these items anywhere else. They also holding AA meetings, and classes for diabetes and better nutrition. We volunteered at the Resource Center twice, for a total of three hours. My team and I worked under the supervision of the operations manager, Jerald Klein. At the WFRC we were able to contribute our time by stocking shelves, cleaning, and washing numerous crates.

On this date worker visited the residence of Ms. Sandra Jordan, for the purpose of linking her with transportation to pay her monthly bills. When worker arrived Ms. Jordan was waiting on worker outside of the apartment. Ms. Jordan was dressed appropriately with good personal hygiene. Worker took Ms. Jordan to the Alabama Power Company office located downtown Jasper, Piggy Wiggly in Sumiton, Ken's Pharmacy in Sumiton, and Jasper Housing Authority office located in downtown Jasper. I was surprising to see a variety of organizations and clubs. I think over 50 organizations set up the stands to talk about their organizations. Despite hot weather, there were a lot of students out on Greene Street. People were handing out the posters, stickers, and sweet treats. The stands were decorated with club banners and information boards to attract new members. Each booth turned on different music. The club members were busy interacting with the students. They helped students to discover different choices for getting involved on the campus. There were also some performers danced on the street. The fair give the students a picture of what to expect around the campus and what the clubs have to offer. I didn’t visit all the stands since
This study will address two non-profit organizations by analyzing structures and basics to determine their effectiveness. This research looks into the different principles and factors each organization uses to determine their successes. Also, it will provide examples of techniques that a non-profit organization has been implementing and uses to reach and maintain effective outcomes. Since the 1990’s, non-profit organizations have come under continuous pressure to be proficient and have effective outcomes. For this reason, non-profit executive directors need to employ stronger leadership practices to manage employees and to increase funds (Barbeito & Bowman, 1998).
My practicum took place on September 7,2016 from nine thirty to ten thirty. The practicum took place at Impact Early College High School in Baytown. The class I observed was Ms. Nguyen’s class of juniors and seniors that contained twenty students, seven boys and thirteen girls. The class appeared to be alert and ready to learn. Since this was their second period class they already had enough time to shake off their fatigue. The subject was Pre-Calculous and the topic was operations of functions. Students entered the classroom in a calm manner and socialized until it was time to start class. The teacher instructed the students to take their seats and take five minutes to write their assignments into their academic calendar. The teacher went
