For this project I utilized the fact that I am a manager at a movie theatre and used our security system in order to observe my employees and how they interacted with each other as well as their customers. The Interaction that I focused my research on involved four of female employees. Ages 17 and 18, and 23, three go to school together, one is a manager and all are white. When subject 1, whose name is Autumn approached subjects two whose name is Sarah, She waved at her and then slouched over the counter and slapped her hand on the counter laughing. Sarah laughed in return and walked over to greet Autumn. They began talking; Autumn seemed to be waiting to clock in. During there discossun Autumn seemed to become upset and began wavering her …show more content…
They imeadutly started laughing and Autumn ducked down and popped back up like a childs toy. I noticed then that one of the other managers Juli had walked in. She seemed to laugh and walked over to Sarah who was helping a customer. The customers seemed tense and had his hands on his hips, he was a white male in his mid 40`s. Juli talked to him and he seemed to relax as he spoke to her. She laughed and motioned for him to follow her to concession and took care of his order herself. Once this was done, he smiled, waved and proceeded down the hallway. Juli, left concession the concession area at this …show more content…
Autumn was extremely playful with both Sarah and Juli, Slapping her hands down on the counter at Sarah and popping up trying to scare Juli. As I pointed out she was making weaving motions with her head turned the beginning and seemed to be upset by something having to do with the back room, I say this based on were both she and Sarah were pointing. However, once Sarah was distracted with the customer she seemed to relax and clam down. This tells me that she may have been feeding off some something that perhaps Sarah was talking about and that she calmed down once the stimuli was
After spending the day observing a fourth grade inclusive class and attending a fourth grade PLC meeting focused on testing, I began my community service at the after school program. I was quite curious to see what the after school program is like as I work as a supervisor at an after school program in Sussex County. At dismissal, all the students came to the cafeteria and began their homework. They were very talkative and sitting in close proximity as there were only a few tables left down for the students. Once everyone had arrived, the teachers called out that all students were to quietly work on homework.

In this paper, I discuss my experience with observing a group counseling session with the purpose of evaluating it in terms of how it is set up, how it is run, interventions used, culturally sensitivity, and the contribution toward my professional development as a social worker. The group setting plays a critical role in social work outside of the individual session and can be largely beneficial for clients in the forms of therapy, counseling, self-help, and support. By attempting to better understand group interventions, I will learn how to apply this strategy in aiding clients for whom this method is appropriate by increasing their social supports.
I decided for my social observation the mall would be a good place to start. I came there on a Friday evening when there should be plenty of people to watch. I also sat in the Barnes and Noble café after that to observe. I expected to see a lot of people shopping and conversing. A few things did stand out to me within the few hours I was there. Some things I didn’t expect to see. We are expected to behave a certain way in public determined by our culture as to what is acceptable. Some people stay well within the lines while some might stray outside the norms but never too far typically. Usually the ones to travel to the extremes are adolescents and teenagers. This is what I observed.
I'm harassed daily at Pitt University, Greensburg under the Hands of William Bill Franicola. These employees know they can get away with their action of laughing in our faces, slurs, hand gestures and comments Mr. Franicola is present letting this behavior continue. Nothing is confiding at Pitt after Joe told me he was keeping an eye on Bob Godzik, outside the pole building Donna Myers, Vicki Hoak is pointing there two fingers at Bob saying they are keeping their eyes on you then moving their fingers towards their eyes. They did the same Hand gestures to Dan Kelly when Bob Godzik was present in the office. When Joe changed my work area to Cassel Hall due to harassment from Bob and Julie Godzik after the change there was several anti-Bullying
My participant observation research project is on sex offenders. A few topics I would be interested in is different type of offenders, such as pedophilic and non-pedophilic. I know sex offending is horrible all together but I really hate when I hear about children and teens being hurt. My questions would be what causes their urge to offend children? How do they know the victim? How to help the offender?
Some days Linda, the owner, would leave and go on errands for the bakery or would get migraines and go home for the day. Nothing would change when she left other than the fact of locking up. There was only one manager who has worked in the bakery since the day it opened, Taylor. Taylor was a kind hearted soul who would help anyone in need. She would always be willing to stay late or come in early with a smile on her face. I looked up to this method and copied this in my work with the bakery.

I am currently on our school-wide data team that uses data to find trends within our school population. One trend that became readily apparent to our team this year was that our move-in students were underperforming and that there were large gaps in their data due to the late entry into our building. Therefore, I wanted to delve deeper into this idea of mobility and how it impacts test results. I specifically wanted to look at this across the three middle schools in my district, Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools, because the three districts differ in student populations. I was not surprised by the results but rather reaffirmed in my thinking. I first wanted to see if certain schools would have higher mobility rates than others so I did a comparison of three years to see the percentage of students who were in the
This morning the above student was reported by a female student he used to date. The female student stated the young man is harrasing her and follows her around the school. I had to walk the female student to her class because the above student was around the corner waitng for her. I asked him to go to class. He stated he was going to speak to his counselor about something
Katherine, receiving a promotion in her computing job, transferred to a spacious room filled with white men and their cubicles. She was the only colored person in her office and faced extreme racial prejudice. Katherine was provided with a “colored” coffee pot by which had no coffee, simply disabling her from being able to drink coffee from their own pot. Additionally, she lost hours of work, around 40 minutes at a time, literally sprinting back and forth to the only “colored” restroom a half a mile away several times a day to simply go to the bathroom (Robinson). Katherine also computed all of the numbers on reports, but her white male coworker’s name was printed on the top instead of hers. She also received many sarcastic remarks, predominantly from Paul Stafford, such as calling her job to check their accuracy in their numbers a “dummy check.” She even faced prejudice from the
Scenario: As the new clinical manager at St. Agastine Hospital, I have noticed that employees feel overworked and have low morality. After careful examinations, I noticed that there is low communication between staff, unsure if their workplace safety is taking seriously, high culturally diverse In the organization creating unintentional miscommunication, and employment grievance regarding their work schedule.
My practicum took place on September 7,2016 from nine thirty to ten thirty. The practicum took place at Impact Early College High School in Baytown. The class I observed was Ms. Nguyen’s class of juniors and seniors that contained twenty students, seven boys and thirteen girls. The class appeared to be alert and ready to learn. Since this was their second period class they already had enough time to shake off their fatigue. The subject was Pre-Calculous and the topic was operations of functions. Students entered the classroom in a calm manner and socialized until it was time to start class. The teacher instructed the students to take their seats and take five minutes to write their assignments into their academic calendar. The teacher went
