Let’s go Royals! I have lived in Kansas City my whole life and I am a huge Royals fan. If you didn’t know, the Royals are 2015 World Series champs! This is the first time we have won the World Series since 1985! Last year we were so close, we even made it to game 7 but the San Francisco pitcher, Madison Bumgarner, was too good for us. The despair our entire city felt after losing was terrible. My favorite player is Lorenzo Cain but I also like Moose (Mike Moustakas) and Eric Hosmer. One of the best days this year was when I went to ALDS Game 2. I got home from school and was having a normal day. “How was your day?” My sister always asks. “It was alright but you know, its school.” I said. Everything was going like usual and then my dad got …show more content…
This is going to be awesome! But then he sighed, “We might not have very good seats.” That took me from 100 to 50 really quick. The day before the game we shopped all around town looking for Royal’s sweatshirts. Like usual, I found nothing. I just couldn’t find a darn sweatshirt. All I was asking for was a simple blue sweatshirt that had “Royals Postseason” on it. Being a kid is so annoying! They never carry anything in my size! Surprisingly the best thing we found was at Walmart. That’s where I got my sweatshirt! Then we headed out to go get the tickets. We had to go a little far from the house but let me tell you, it was worth it. We pulled up to the house and it looked a little sketchy. Dad said,” Well this could be …show more content…
Man was I excited! This is going to be great. I hadn’t gone to a game the whole year, and this was my first game, a playoff game! Not to mention we had perfect seats. We left around 3 o’clock for good old Kauffman Stadium. The traffic was pretty bad and it took us a while to get there. When we got there all we saw was blue. The entrance was almost like a sea of blue. What an astonishing sight it was! When we got to our seats everybody was yelling and screaming for our starting pitcher, Yordano Ventura. Yordano was a great pitcher and he truly showed his skill in last year’s season. He has a little “spice” you could say, to him and he was my personal favorite for that reason. He was going up against the Toronto Blue Jays’ ace, David Price. The Royals led the series 1 game to none. Everybody was waving their blue and white “terrible towels” the entire time we were hitting. It was like there was a freight train rumbling its way through the stadium. The smells of hotdogs and peanuts were so powerful. I was touching nearly everyone near me. It was back and forth the first four innings but in the 5th the Blue Jays pulled away gaining a lead of 4-2. David Price had retired twelve batters in a row after the 6th inning. We thought it was hopeless. But then came Salvador Perez, Moose, Rios, Escobar and the hits just kept coming! It was so loud and I couldn’t even talk to my dad. The Royals have sometimes been called “The Comeback Kids” and I
I went out and played my heart out against Cincinnati. I set a record that still stands for the most hits in a Series, though it has been tied, I think. I made thirteen hits, but after all the trouble came out they took one away from me. Maurice Rath went over in the hole and knocked down a hot grounder, but he couldn’t make a throw on it. They scored it a hit then, but changed it later (Bisher 1).
In my book there are two main characters. The first is Stevie. He is 14 years old and a writer for The Washington post. When He was 12 he won a writing contest with Susan Carol Anderson (the other main character in my book) to go to the final four and write sports articles. From then they were sent to other major sporting events. This one being the world series. Stevie is very outgoing but he is is jealous of his girl friend susan carol. “well,” stevie said “I may be good enough, but not as good as you.” This is saying that Stevie is good at some sports writing and smart. But Susan Carol is amazing at sports writing and she is very smart. Susan Carol is a very sweet girl. She is a southern belle from north carolina. She can
The road to the actual playoffs began in a single game in which the Houston Astros defeated the Yankees in an effort to win the last playoff spot. Two days later after their win the Astros faced the Kansas City Royals and this series lasted the 5 games. Sadly for the Astros, the Royals won the series and advanced to the ALCS. The Royals did everything right but they wouldn’t have done it without the help of Alcides Escobar who got on base almost every single game and Eric Hosmer who hit a couple of home runs and managed to get an RBI in almost every game. This series was really intense because all the games were played; meaning that there was a tie between the teams and games 5 was the last shot for both of them. Both of these teams played really good and players from both teams made a lot of sensational plays that led their teams to a win. Alex Gordon a former gold glove award winner who is always diving for impossible fly balls didn’t fail to make several catches. Mike Moustakas playing the hot corner managed to snatch every single shot that was hit towards
The 1919 World Series was very interesting to say the least. Some of the White Sox players wanted some extra money. I believe that this series is one of, if not the darkest chapter in Major League Baseball’s history.
The Yankees Major League Baseball Team founded in Baltimore Maryland in the year 1901. the old team the Orioles, was managed and owned by John McGraw. In 1903, owners and managers of the American League voted to move the team to New York City. They have won 27 World Series sense 1923 through 2009. Babe Ruth (number 3) has made a huge change in baseball,he played in the Yankees for a long time and has inspired people to play baseball. His stats are: home runs 714, bases on balls are 2,062, he was truly a good inspiration and good base ball player for all base ball players and he's just one of the many inspiring people playing baseball in are history.
The 1919 World Series resulted in the most famous scandal in baseball history. Eight players from the Chicago White Sox (later nicknamed the Black Sox) were accused of throwing the series against the Cincinnati Reds. Details of the scandal and the extent to which each man was involved have always been unclear. It was, however, front-page news across the country and, despite being acquitted of criminal charges, the players were banned from professional baseball for life. The eight men included the great “shoeless Joe Jackson,” pitchers Eddie Cicotte and Claude "Lefty" Williams; infielders Buck Weaver, Arnold "Chick" Gandil, Fred McMullin, and Charles "Swede" Risberg; and outfielder Oscar "Happy" Felsch.
The Royals went with their ace in the series in Bret Saberhagen. On her way into the stadium my mom talks about the atmosphere in the crowds. “The best way I could describe would be electric. The Royals fans were especially rowdy because they had the momentum going into the game and it was in Kansas City. The much anticipated game, however, turned out to be a blowout. St. Louis' rotation did not fare as well as Motley hammered a two run homer off Tudor in the second, Balboni delivered a two run single in the three run, third and Lonnie Smith launched a two run double in the six run, fifth. George Brett went four-for-five and Motley finished with three hits in the 11-0 massacre that crowned the "Comeback Kings" as World Series Champions (Baseball
The Red Sox won! It was a super close game. The final score was 2-1 in the Red Sox Favor over the Cubs. Carl Mays did so good. He pitched the whole game and only gave up the one run. The Red Sox scored two runs early in the third inning and did not score again the rest of the game. The Cubs put the pressure on scoring a run in the 4th, but they didn't manage to get another run across the rest of the game. Something awesome happened in the top of the eighth inning though. The Red Sox brought Babe Ruth in to play Left Field! I was so excited to see him walk on the field. He didn’t get to hit, but it was just great to see him walk out on to the field and get to be out there. After a long day, it feels really good to be going to bed a fan of the
Last year a whole nation came together to cheer on the Toronto Blue Jays as they made their bid to win the World Series. It was a feat that they had not accomplished in over 20 years. The excitement across Canada was unbelievable! People from all over the country were travelling to Toronto and the opponent’s city to show their support for the Jays. Unfortunately, their efforts were cut short in a series loss to the Kansas City Royals who ended up World Series Champions. Now with the 2016 season around the corner, can the Blue Jays make it back to back playoff berths with the changes that have been made in the front office, pitching rotation and player trades?
The 2005 Kansas City Royals finished dead last in the ALC, winning less than 35% of their games that season. Due to the Royals less than stellar season, diehard KC baseball fans were forced to seek out other local teams to get their baseball fix. Much like the Royals at the time, my elementary coach-pitch softball games were not the place for such fans.
However, there is one big concern for the Red Sox is the inconsistency of the pitching staff. The team ranks 22nd in baseball with a 4.37 collective ERA, which will not get the job done over an entire season. They must address the pitching staff if they want to reach their ultimate goal of a World Series
Going to a game in Fenway is a smorgasbord of delightful feelings. Even the walk up to the ballpark is some thing to behold. Walking with hundreds of passionate fans, all decked out in their red sox T-shirts, jerseys, and of coarse that iconic navy hat with the red B on it. I feel like I belong there with this organized group of strangers. There is such a since of family as I see people from the “T” car I was on and chatted with. A few hundred yards ahead I could hear a “Lets Go Red Sox” chant as people around me began to join in
1. Briefly, what are the major developments in the history of the labor-management relationship within Major League Baseball?
The following spring, the baseball season started again, but I still chose not to watch the Sox or play any baseball whatsoever, that is until they made the post season once again. I decided to pay attention and the Sox advanced to the next round, to play the Yankees once again in the ALCS. Being so heartbroken from the year before, I didn't know what to expect, and sure enough, I found myself in the same position, the Sox down three games to none in the best of a seven game series, I had no faith. My father decided to go out and surprise me with tickets to game
It had been an unbelievable season so far, we were going into the championship game of junior league with only two losses. Of course, the only other team with a better record than us was the black team. We gave them their only loss on the second game of the regular season. Now, after defeating the better of the Mosinee teams in the semi finals, my dad, who was also the coach of our blue team, had stopped to watch the rest of the game between black and red.
