Japan launched a surprise attack on the US fleet at pearl harbor on December 7, 1941. The Japanese hoprd this would be a knockout blow for the Americans but they miscalculated terribly.
At first Japan waas very successful with their attacks. They invaded the Philipines, Hong Kong, Borneo, The Solomon Islands, Java, and Singapore. After Germany's defeat America turned its full military strength on Japan rather than having a full scale invasion on Japan. The United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Hiroshima and three years later they dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki.

World War I was a tragic episode in European history. As with most wars, there were some causes that led to this event. A few of these causes were militarism, alliances, and imperialism. The first spark of the war was on June 28, 1914 when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were assassinated by a Serbian nationalist group called the Black Hand. The Austrian leaders demanded an apology from Serbia, they got upset and Russia said they would help Serbia. With no apology and the threat of Russia, on June 28 Austria-Hungary declared war on them; Russia in return declared war on Austria-Hungary. Germany declared war on Russia, France on both Germany and Austria-Hungary. Finally Britain had joined France and Russia, then all of Europe was at war.
World War I took place in the year of 1914 till the year of 1919. The war went on for 4 years. What triggered the start of World War I was the assassination of Australia’s archduke, Francis Ferdinand. The Black Hand group did not want Archduke Francis to be ruler of their land. Francis’ assassin led Europe’s stability to collapse. Europe desired to build empires and form new alliances. The Allies were the victors. There is an estimation of 10 million military soldiers that died and 7 million civilian deaths. 21 million were wounded and nearly 8 million either went missing or were imprisoned.
World War I, also known as the First World War, the Great War and the War to End All Wars, was a global military conflict which took place primarily in Europe from 1914 to 1918.[2] Over 40 million casualties resulted, including approximately 20 million military and civilian deaths.[3] Over 60 million European soldiers were mobilized from 1914 1918.[4] The immediate cause of the war was the June 28, 1914 assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, by Gavril Principe, a Bosnian Serb citizen of Austria-Hungary and member of the Black Hand. The retaliation by Austria-Hungary against Serbia activated a series of alliances that set off a chain reaction of war declarations. Within a month, much of Europe was

Soon after the invasions were ending and Germany and the rest of the axis powers were starting to battle, America was trying its best to stay as far away from war as it could get. World War I took place in Europe in the early 19th century and was fought by Germany, Italy, Russia, France, Great Britain, and Australia-Hungary. These countries reasons for a war were nationalism, alliances, and militarism. Germany, Italy, Russia, France, Great Britain, and Austria-Hungary were all wanting the same thing, but they were too busy competing with each other to see clearly.
World War I was fought in Europe between Germany, France, Britain, Russia, The United States, and many other countries. As one of the bloodiest wars in history, there were many underlying and fundamental causes. World War I was triggered mainly by a combination of imperialism, nationalism, militarism, and alliance systems between European countries.
After invading Pearl Harbor and killing thousands of Americans, Japan thought they were on the path to winning the war. Little did they know that a couple months later, America was going to get them back for what they did. Japan was frustrated that America was in their way of becoming powerful so they tried to weaken America by attacking Pearl Harbor. This did not weaken America but made America even more powerful by America dropping atomic bombs on two cities in Japan.
Prior to WWII, Japan expanded into other countries like China and Manchuria to gain resources because Japan didn’t want to rely on the United States for resources and nearly eighty percent of their oil (Doc D). The invasion of Manchuria made the United States suspicious of Japan’s intent, but when China was invaded, the United States confirmed their skepticism and stopped trading military equipment with Japan. Two years later, in 1941, Japanese-American oil trades embargoed and banking assets froze. The trade cut off prevented the Japanese’s goal of becoming a world power because they couldn’t fuel their military or their industries. Therefore, the action infuriated the leaders of Japan and such anger was expressed during an Imperial Conference when Hideki Tojo stated to his fellow board members that the United States can’t do as she wants and let other countries suffer (Doc E). This conference helped organize the bombing and influenced the spread of Japanese hate toward America. Just as Europe and the United States did when fabricating the Treaty of Versailles, Japan took action in the interest of their country first and bombed Pearl Harbor in the same year as trade flow stopped. The bombing represented revenge against the trade cutoff and for preventing the completion of their
