As we read about history, generally speaking all the events that took place in the events during World War II, lets admit we all rely on what the history textbooks contain. If we ask about other specific events such as the Pacific Theater, In which the battles between the Japanese and the United States, information can be accessed via internet with many information. When asking about what part the Philippines had in World War II, we have to look more in depth on books that pertain to the topic of matter. But when asking about the actual experiences of the World War II, an interview is conducted in order to know more of what happened in the eyes of those who experienced World War II. My interview with Grandfather, Rafael Santiesteban, a survivor …show more content…
The memories of his time in World War explains how his recruitment by the US Navy and the lines to sign up. He then applied and was in luck to be given a physical the next day and was shown the place where he was to work. He stated that at that time he wasn’t old enough to be able to enlist with the Navy and was a student at the time. He was able to be part of the military but as a civilian only. He stated that the Navy categorized him as a “non-skilled laborer,” in order for him to stay in the Navy and being a civilian he had to do odd types of work. He mostly worked at the commissary, a store of supplies. As the Interview continues with Rafael Santiesteban, he states, “I had felt the situation getting worse.” As I asked of his opinion on how the war began when government of the United States and Japan did not get along with one another. He says that on December 10th, two days after the Pearl Harbor bombing on December 10th. While he was assigned in the 16th district and was present during the bombing of the navy base, he was not hurt and only obtained a few scratches on his forehead. He states that the bombing lasted five hours and recalls running during the bombing and coming across a man with his body split open and being able to see the heart as he passed by
The First World War began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary, killed by a Serbian group. The assassination prompted Austria-Hungary to declare war against Serbia. Russia supported Serbia; Austria-Hungary had assistance from Germany; and France and Great Britain had allied with Russia. Then, the declaration of war began. France, Great Britain, and Germany fought on the Western Front while Russia battled Germans on the Eastern Front.
Prompt 1 Bourne's statement reflects accurately what the government hoped to do with its people. The War was something the president was hesitant to be involved in. In fact he declared America as neutral in the war on August 4, 1914 (Nash, 496). Many Americans especially young men had forgotten the hardship of war. Only remembering the Splendid Little War (Nash, 497) they were eager for action and adventure.
“Everybody wants happiness, nobody wants pain, but you can’t have a rainbow without a little rain” - Unknown. 70 years ago the bloodiest war of them all - World War II - came to an end on September 2, 1945. There are many sites that are kept to commemorate those moments, particularly Battleship Missouri; it is known to be the ship that was anchored in Tokyo Bay when Japan surrendered to the Allied forces. Despite the joy that came out of the resolution, it was a short time before further problems to reconstruct the damaged areas came about. However, September 2nd did play part in molding mindsets of the people; it is right to say it was a day in history that launched a better future because of the knowledge that is gained from the traumatic
Doomsday is defined as the day where the world will come to an end and people will face God on Judgment Day. Many people are fascinated by the notion that Doomsday will eventually happen soon, but there’s always a miscalculation when it comes to predicting as when the world will end. World War II is the most significant period in the twentieth century because technology, civil rights movement in the U.S, and the ability to explore outer space took a huge leap of fascination around the world. The two powerful allies emerged during World War II as to begin a Cold War with each other that defined the twentieth century. The idea that the world will come to an end by a nuclear war based on previous events from World War II that can potentially one day happen again because of historic evidence from the Cold War that wiped out two major cities in Japan, scientific evidence of a secret nuclear weapon written in India’s ancient epics, and the production of radiation smoke that builds up overtime can slowly kill humans. Zombies are dead corpse that is revived by a virus. The myth of zombies originated from Haiti in 1626 to 1800s, as an image of inhumanity where slaves were treated ruthlessly. In the Haitian religion, slaves believed that dying was a way for them to return to Guinea, where they are free from torture in the afterlife. Under the ruled by Saint-Domingue in France when African slaves to work for the sugar plantation. Slaves who worked under the French were treated
Analyzing the occurrences during World War II, the statement “despite being effective at the tactical and operational levels of war, the Germans lost the war on the strategic level” can be concluded to be absolutely true. The tactical and operational successes of the German army were demonstrated by their rapid victories at the start of the war with wildly successful Blitzkrieg tactics throughout Europe. This occurred as a result of operational successes during the invasions and victories of many European countries during these early years of the war. However, the reason that these tactical and operational successes didn’t translate into an Axis victory were because Germany never really had a concrete, sustainable strategy for the war. Hitler’s over-ambitious aims to expand his Third Reich, coupled with a racist ideology, led the German army to create more conflict than they were capable of sustaining. This flawed manner of thinking saw Germany open a war on two fronts, under the assumption that his adversaries were subhuman and thus, easily conquerable. Hitler held these ideals even at the expense of putting Germany into a poor wartime positions such as being caught in a two-front war. Besides having virtually no unified war strategy, the other primary strategic failures of Germany were a lack of communication between its allies and Hitler’s supremacist ideologies that prevented him from fully embracing a proper wartime economy and adequate logistical planning.
If World War I served as airpower’s infancy, then the developments and adaptations made during World War II were airpower’s awkward teenage years. The lessons learned during WWI and WWII laid the foundation for the newest domain of warfare to mature from. Through the inter-war period all major belligerents developed doctrine on how to employ airpower in the “next” war, over land and sea. It is my belief that the United States was the best, out of all belligerents, at adapting its airpower throughout World War II (WWII) and did so while fighting in two separate theatres. Three adaptations I believe best highlight the adaptability of America’s airpower are the strategic bombing changes regarding Japan, the addition of drop tanks on fighters and close air support.
During World War Two, a guy named Hitler made his way up the chain in Germany and gain power and he decided to lead his army with the help of Japan’s and Italy’s army; he attacked France, Britain, and the Soviet Union. While doing that, he also captured Jew and put them in camps were that became their graves. This event in history is called the Holocaust. In America December 7, 1941; Pearl Harbor just got bombed by the Japanese. The day after Japan declared war on America; followed by Germany and Italy declaring war on America. Ten weeks after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a document that would change all the lives of Japanese and Japanese descent life's. That document was the Executive Order of 9066.

January 1917- This war has been going on now for almost three years now, between countries all around the world, but mainly Europe. It has been both devastating so far to the lives of many uninvolved individuals, and has used all the countries’ resources and destroyed land. America has not entered the war yet, but I can see it coming in the near future as our president Woodrow Wilson becomes more and more upset with innocent Americans being killed and no fight back.
World War II was a continuation of World War I, to prove this statement I have found some accurate reasoning as to why this would be true. The key instigation of World War II began with patriotic hostility, unresolved issues, and bitterness that was carried over from World War I and the in between period of small wars in Europe, not forgetting to mention the outcomes of the Great Depression in the 1930s.
The period of World War II and the years immediately after illustrate such astonishingly rapid shifts. These shifts provided: change in the economy, many jobs were made available, women left from being at home into the workforce, and gay and lesbians individuals often enlisted into the military. According to historian Allan Berube, World War II was known to be the “quintessential coming out party” for LGBT Americans. The war created a substantially new “erotic situation” conducive both to the articulation of a homosexual identity and to the more rapid evolution of a gay subculture (24). I believe that this saying is meaning that World War II was an opportunity for many LGBT to go out and have the ability of having some freedoms.
World War Two it was an horrendous thing right. The nazis were the worst of all the axis right. Wrong! The japanese were just as bad or even worse than the nazis!
World War 2 was a massive war which engulfed the whole world from 1939 – 1935. There were 2 different sides in the war. These two sides were the Allies and the axis. At the start of the war, the Allies consisted of Great Britain and all of its colonies (such as Australia) and France. The Axis consisted of Germany, Italy, Japan and the Soviet Union. At the start of the war the axis powers were dominating. Germany used “Blitzkrieg” (Lighting war) tactics very successfully and overran many countries using it. But some major events occurred and turned the tide of the war to the favour of the Allies. However two of these major events are most often talked about to be the reason that the axis powers eventually lost. One of these events includes the Japanese attack on pearl harbour. This brought America into the war and onto the side of the Allies. The other of the two events was instigated by Germany itself. Germany decided to attack one of their allies. This ally was the Soviet Union. There is often a lot of debate about which of these events is greatest, that is to have had the biggest effect in the war. So the question has to be asked, was it the US entrance into the war that made the defeat of Germany inevitable, or it caused by the German attack of the Soviet Union. In my opinion it was not the US entrance to the war, but the German invasion of the Soviet Union that made the ultimate defeat of Germany inevitable. This is because they put
World War II was fought between two main opposing forces, the Allies and the Axis forces. The Axis powers consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan being the most dominant. On the other hand, some of the countries in the Allied powers were Great Britain, the United States, France, Australia, New Zealand, India, the Soviet Union, Canada, and Greece.
It was 1941 and she was 38 years old. Great Grandma and Grandpa were listening to their new radio when the news of the Pearl Harbor bombing came on. She said that the Japanese were over in the states trying to make peace when they heard the news. She remembers just being scared to death. She was worried that grandpa would have to go. They were living in the two-story farmhouse outside
