World War 2 was the war fought between the Allied and the Axis powers. The Allies consisted of Britain, the USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) and USA (United States of America). The Axis nations were Nazi Germany, Italy and Japan. The war was fought from 1939 to 1945. This war was different to other wars as new technology and destructive weapons, such as the nuclear or atomic bombs, were introduced.
The war was fought because Nazi Germany with their dictator leader, Adolf Hitler, wanted to take over Europe and regain the power that they had lost after their defeat in World War 1. The trouble started when Hitler ignored the Terms of The Treaty of Versailles which were set up after the First World War to ensure peace for Europe. Germany

156 000 forces landed along the 5 mile stretch of the 5 beaches according to source F, and source L says that 75 000 Canadian and British, and 57 000 Americans held the beaches. Germany was losing strength and they even had 16 year old soldiers (source C). The Allies secured the Cotentin Peninsula on 11 June (source D) and by 12 June, 12 million men were in Normandy (source C). After Operation Cobra, which helped the Allies through the tough terrain of the inland, they began moving quickly towards Paris (source L). Paris had fallen in August, and all of Northern France had been liberated by the end of that month (source D). The attack prevented Hitler from building up his Eastern Front against the Soviets by sending his troops from France (source). During August, the Normandy campaign ended which resulted in the destruction of the German 7th Army (source D). They reached Germany in September (source F) and began invading Germany in January 1945 (source D). The attack was the beginning of the end of war in Europe and it ultimately resulted in the victory for the
World War II was fought between the Axis Powers (Germany, Italy, and Japan) and the Allied Powers (Britain, United States, Soviet Union, and France). Although most all countries were involved in some way hence the title “World War II,” the Axis and Allied Powers were the major players on the field. The war began when Germany at the command of Adolf Hitler, invaded Poland on September 1st 1939 as a “defensive action.” However, Britain and France did not buy it hence why they had declared war on Germany two days later as a result. The real reason Germany invaded Poland was because Hitler wanted more Lebensraum (“living space”) for Germans. Hitler believed that he would be able to get away with taking over Poland due to the fact that many counties appeased him when he had taken over Austria and the Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. The United States’ decision to stay neutral also played a role in World War II, as they did not come to aid to the countries apart of the League of Nations.
World War II was fought between two main opposing forces, the Allies and the Axis forces. The Axis powers consisted of Germany, Italy, and Japan being the most dominant. On the other hand, some of the countries in the Allied powers were Great Britain, the United States, France, Australia, New Zealand, India, the Soviet Union, Canada, and Greece.
World War II involved almost every part of the world, during the years 1939 through 1945. World War 2 was a notorious war fought between the Axis and Allied nations, during the period of 1939 to 1945. The Axis nations mainly included Germany, Japan and Italy, while the Allied nations were led by the United States of America (USA), the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and Britain (Source D). The war was kindled after a Nazi German invasion of Poland in 1939, which resulted in Britain and France declaring war on Germany. As Germany was determined to carry on their invasions, their allies (the Axis nations) and Britain’s allies (the Allied nations) and colonies were dragged into the war, causing it to become a major world war.
The day of the invasion more than 156,000 american, British, Polish, and Canadian forces landed on five beaches along the coast of France’s Normandy regions. The invasion lasted from June 1944 to August
World War II. World War II began 20 short years after World War I occurred. There were many memorable and momentous events that have occurred during this World War. The events that happened before the war is just as important as the events that happened during the war. It all began with the ideas of Adolf Hitler, the leader of Germany and Head of the Nazi Party. Hitler planned on making Germany the Third Reich by expanding and creating an “Aryan” racial state. Hitler believed that the superior nations had the right to lebensraum. Lebensraum was living space through expansion. Lebensraum gave the superior individuals the ability to gain authoritarian leadership. This is how Hitler came to power. While Spain was fighting
On June 6, 1944 the largest amphibious assault in history took place. On the morning of the Invasion of Normandy, beaches in the area of Cotentin, France, were bombarded with over 5,000 tons of bombs, destroying German defenses and de-mining many areas. Following the bombardment over 100,000 soldiers swam ashore, and 11,700 paratroopers were dropped to secure Normandy Beach. After two months of battle, Allied troops marched into Normandy on August 24th, 1944. The Invasion of Normandy not only was the turning point of the World War II, but also directly led to the liberation of Western Europe from the Nazi regime.
They're are many reasons of how World war 2 started, from the fascism in Italy to the red scare in america, but the main reason for the war starting is Germany invading Poland. The German invasion of Poland was a primer on how Hitler intended to wage war. Now poland had a alliance with Great Britain, so when Germany invaded poland it forced great britain into the war. Great Britain would respond with bombing raids over Germany three days later. Then Germany declared war on Great Britain, throwing the countries france, and russia into the war also, these alliances were known as the “Allied Powers”. At

D-Day was a major part in the ending of World War II. If the Allies hadn’t won the Battle of Normandy, they may not have succeeded in the fight against the Nazis. The Battle of Normandy is more commonly known as D-Day. D-Day is the day (June 6, 1944) in World War II on which Allied forces invaded northern France by means of beach landings in Normandy, France. In the summer of 1943, an early copy of the D-Day plans blew out of a window in the Norfolk House, London.
From the beginning Of World War II in 1939 until the end in 1945, the battles between the Allied and Axis powers were violent and caused great destruction. It became a world dispute after the attack on Pearl Harbor. From then on, countries such as the United States, France, Germany, Japan, the Soviet Union, and many others fought vigorously until a victory was achieved. World War II officially began after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and the United States declared war. The war was made up of a series of major events such as the Battle of El Alamein, the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the Battle of Stalingrad, and D-Day which all lead to the victory of the Allied powers.
World War II was fought between two powers; the axis and the allied powers. The axis powers consisted of Germany, Italy, Japan, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria while the allied powers consisted of U.S., Britain, France, USSR, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Greece, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, South Africa, and Yugoslavia. While the United States Armed Forces were deployed in other parts of the world, the ones back home were facing the struggles of a war they had no choice but to be involved in. This war was a war that lasted for six years and tallied many casualties. The hard fought war was not fought for any reason, though. World War II was a pivotal point in the 1900’s for, not only states’ rights, but also human rights. The aftermath of the war brought justice to those wronged and a bright future to look ahead to.
In addition to the air bombing that took place, the Allies also had ground forces within the Continent. Starting with the the attack on June 6, 1944 named Operation Overlord, the Allies began to make headway in regaining territory occupied by German forces. Operation Overlord, commonly referred to as D-Day, was a joint effort with both British and American forces that looked to take the beaches in Normandy France. Though this campaign resulted in a large casualty count, the Allies were able to retain the beaches, setting the stage for even greater numbers of land forces to enter into the European theater.
One part of the many causes of this war was the rise of the dictators. After the great suffer from world war one, Germany was forced to give up their territory, and was not allowed to have armed forced. So when a new leader was formed, Adolf
