Throughout the article the journalist begins by using allusions referencing to historical events that occurred during World War II and continues to use this throughout the text. In the text the critic is addressing the public of a “war” being honored, “... sculpture honoring the advertising executives who lost their families… most bitter advertising war in U.S history...,” (paragraph 2) but it’s an allusion to the memorials used to honor those fallen in the war. The sculptures are made to honor but it is a form of mockery to the veterans of World War II memorials in order to try to express the point of seeing the importance of knowing that the war was something that affected everyone either directly or indirectly. The Vietnam War was a Cold War-era conflict that started in 1946 and ended in 1974, taking nearly 30 years to resolve. The war was fundamentally a conflict between North Vietnam and South Vietnam, where the North was communist and South was not. The United States, France, the United Kingdom and other non-communist allies supported the non-communist South Vietnam. China, Russia (USSR), Cuba, Cambodia and other Communist allies supported the regime in the north. North Vietnam saw the United States involvement in the North as foreign aggression, so they fought guerilla wars against the anti-communist forces in the region. Guerilla forces (the Viet Cong) and the regular North Vietnamese Army were responsible for fighting the anticommunist forces. The conflict mainly consisted of small battles until the onset of air attacks -- part of an overall strategy of massive bombing and search-and-destroy operations, which South Vietnam and the Americans hoped would win the war.

World War II began in 1939 and ended in 1945. This was the most extensive war in the history of the world that involved all continents and many active nations. The war was also the first one in the use of nuclear weapons and other sophisticated artillery. America at the time had emerged as a financial and military superpower, after most of the powerful European nations had suffered losses after the First World War that ended in 1919. World War II can be attributed to the invasion of the Nazi Germany into Poland and its aggressiveness towards other powerful European states like France. Similarly, Japan’s aggressiveness in Asia was causing tension among the powerful states of Russia and China.

World War II was in Europe and the Pacific to stop Germany and the axis powers; after WW2 the only super powers left were the United States and the Soviet Union since other nations received heavy damage from the war. The Soviet Union then began to spread the idea of communism to other nations in ruins which created the war of containment led by the US. The Vietnam war was in South East Asia to stop the spread of communism from North Vietnam to South Vietnam. The World War II and Vietnam Generation are both great generations but the greatest generation is the WWII because of the military, social, and political issues/advances faced during war.
Violence brings out the worst in people. It reveals their true nature and who they really are in the inside. What the Nazi’s did to the Jews was not right at all. The Jews had to have a good heart and strong will to make it through it; all the memories they experienced will never go away.
The American presidential election and your history class made me realize I am not as interested in what influences history as I am about how it gives meaning across temporal and geographic boundaries. Politics made me aware of
The Vietnam War or the Second Indochina War began in 1955 or ten years after World War 2. The United States direct involvement in the war started in 1964 and extended through 1973 but its indirect involvement started much earlier. At the end of the Second World War the United States and the Soviet Union were recognized as the two greatest military powers in the world. As the Soviet Union expanded their influence over Eastern Europe in countries including Bulgaria, East Germany, and China turned to communism and the United States grew concerned with the expansion of communism and its potential impact on the democratic nations of the world. Similarly the Soviet Union was concerned with the economic and military strength of the United
