World War II Research Report At the end of the First World War, many changes were about to happen. The countries on the winning side did not feel victorious after millions had died because of the war. The countries on the losing side would now have to deal with settlements with the western allies. The great empires that once dominated central and Eastern Europe and West Asia had fallen. There was great uncertainty. Today I will discuss the Western Ideals and World War II. I will talk about the rise of totalitarianism, evaluate the causes of World War II, explain the Holocaust, describe the major figures, events, and technological innovations of

On December 7, 1941 The United States was attacked by Japan with the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The United States declared war on Japan the next day. In support of the Axis agreement, Germany declared war against the US on December 11, 1941. (Grolier 2006 p.35-40) Under the Nonaggression Pact, Germany and the Soviet Union agreed not to attack on another. This provided Stalin time to build up the Red Army for an eventual invasion by Germany. Under operation Barbarossa, Germany would launch an attack and prepare to invade the Soviet Union. Germany seized several cities until they tried to invade Moscow. With the help of bad weather and the Katyusha rocket, Germany was force to retreat. (Grolier 2006 p. 24-30) The Germans also had some of their own one of kind weapons. The new armored Panzer tank was vital for Hitler’s blitzkrieg; it provided mobility, protection, firepower, and shock. This allowed Germany to invade and conquer quickly. (Grolier 2006, p. 6) Discoveries in Physics and Chemistry revolutionized bombs, missiles, and rockets. On the seas, submarines were designed to remain underwater longer by use of Walter turbines. Airplanes were now equipped with jet engines. The most significant development was the atom bomb. This device invented by the United States eventually ended the war. (Grolier 2006, p. 60-65) As the war in Europe
Adolf Hitler was arguably one of the world’s most powerful dictators of all time. Hitler used the Jews as a scapegoat throughout his rise in power. Using antisemitism to preach hatred and blame on the Jews for all of Germany’s problems, including the loss of World War I. Hitler had gained the support of other countries to include Italy and Japan and was going to stop at nothing to ensure that the German people would reign supreme. Hitler had his Army ready for war and was confident that a victory for Germany was certain, he just needed an opportunity to strike. In this paper we will discuss the history of WWII, to include Hitler’s rise to power, world conquest and the transition of Cost Artillery to today’s Air Defense.
This essay analyses the origins of the Second World War by briefly summarizing the events from 1919-1939. However, most emphasis is put on the amount of responsibility the Treaty of Versailles deserves for the outbreak of war. Other than analysing the Treaty of Versailles on its own, it also analyses the effects of the 1929 Wall Street Crash on the world, the rise of Fascism and Nazism, as well as the rise of Adolf Hitler, the failure of the League of Nations and the appeasement of the Fascist and Nazi regimes by Britain and France throughout the 1930s. Hence the Treaty of Versailles plays a
As countries seek to avoid alliances that can lead to conflicts, noninterventionism has remained one of the most explored concepts in global politics. Having seen the impacts of the Revolutionary Wars on humanity and being home of people from different ethnic racial groups from Europe, the last 27th presidents of the United States have been adopting foreign policies that promote nationalism and internal growth rather than partnering with global powers. One of the approaches is isolationism, a policy that has always prevented the United States from involving itself in international conflicts. Since his reelection, President Woodrow Wilson has observed this tradition by maintaining neutrality for more than three years during the Panamanian Revolt against Colombia. However, the president should abandon this policy and adopt an approach that will protect humanity from the destructive war in Europe. As this paper seeks to discuss, joining the war offers more benefits to America and humanity than staying in isolation from world politics.
In the decades since World War II, there have been many attempts to glorify this generation through the media. Myth and the Greatest Generation: A Social History of Americans in World War II by Kenneth D. Rose, attempts to pare back the delusions of grandeur that often characterize histories of the World War II generation to show society as it was rather than how we have come to perceive it. Rose claims that often times when commentators focus on wars, they choose stories that are meant to make the population feel good as opposed to showing the realities. As a result, in retrospect wars seem to generate heightened patriotism and national unity (1). In this book, Rose hopes to give true honor to the Americans of this generation, not by glorifying their contributions, but by presenting a picture more in line with the historical record, hoping that in doing so his work will deliver a more accurate portrayal of “Americans at war” (3). Rose chooses not to rely heavily on secondary source material, but rather to highlight the first-hand accounts of individuals who experienced the war. He does so in order to give them proper credit but also to show that the so-called Greatest Generation was not without flaws, and was indeed an ordinary generation that lived through traumatic events that tested their character (7).
How many of us wondered what would have happened if we had lived during the war ? How would look like our childhood and further life ? During the war, the world was full of evil and cruelty. We can think about it, but there are a people who survived that time and they can tell us a lot of about it. Life during that period was everyday life for the large number of population. Children did not complain on the lack of toys, because they did not have them. Nobody refused to eat. People ate whatever they received. They did not want to die from hunger. Every child wanted to go to school, learn and have a normal life. Nowadays we have it all and for those people who lived during the war everything we have was just a dream.
A lot happened in the 1950’s from war to the discovery of America’s best music in my opinion. There was a lot of scary stuff going on in the 1950’s from the cold war with Russia to the war of North Korea and South Korea. There was also things going on with drug wars and the famous people using them.
Most of the news and stories are about the soldiers who fought bravely in World War 1, but what about the people back home? What did they do and what impact did they have? These people in the homelands worked hard to support themselves, family, and their soldiers fighting in the war. They changed the workforce and their way of live. These people donated their hard earned money and changed what they eat so that way they could support the soldiers fighting for them. Without them the news and stories from World War 1 would be very different.
Which weapons were created during WW2 and what was their impact on our society today? WW2 was a very industrious and devastating period in time, in which many weapons and massive bombs were manufactured to help win the war, killing many innocent people in the process. Some of the main innovations include infantry weapons, military vehicles, and a massive nuke called the atomic bomb.
he effort on the Canadian government and civilians did lead towards the allied victory of WW2 by the control of financial. In World War 2, paying for the war and waging the war were expensive, so the king figured out ways to pay it all, by raising income tax and selling Victory Bonds. The way of selling the Victory bonds is to sell it to people and a few years later, they would get their money plus the interest back. Meanwhile, the government could use this money to pay for the war effort. The Chinese Canadians raised $4 million in the relief funds and send $5 million to support the effort in China. The total expenses that the federal government spending on the War effort were $21 786 077 519 from 1939-1950. At the end of the war, the victory
For this paper I focused on some of the reasons that lead to the United States of America to joining World War 2. I used 1 online source and 3 sources provided by the instructor. In this report I will go over a letter that F.D.R. sent to Hitler in regards to what Hitler was doing, the threat of the axis powers and how it intimidated the United States into arming for war, the events leading up to pearl harbor, and Pearl Harbor itself.
During WWII, governments engaged in a constant struggle for the hearts and minds of the public. Propaganda was a technique utilized to spread information and ideas to help the nation through songs, posters, videos, and other social media methods. According to the article, “Propaganda Posters of WWII,” the U.S. government intended to use propaganda to recruit, unify, and support the war effort. The government needed something to ignite the citizen’s patriotic feelings in the war, thus using the most effective tool: propaganda. Although many viewed propaganda use by the government to be negative and manipulative, the Allied forces issued these images effectively to escalate patriotic core values. Thus encouraging
During the years leading up to the United States’ entry into World War II, the state also faced the threat posed by the European dictators and the Japanese military clique. Wartime preparations lead to great economic dislocations and social tensions. Labor shortages, rationing, and finding enough transportation were only a few of the new challenges. The need to house defense workers became a high priority. Military training camps, shipyards, and aircraft factories also had to be constructed quickly. Nothing could be allowed to impede the speeding of planes, tanks, guns to the fighting front. California’s war industries drew workers from all parts of the United States. The state demolished its “bum blockade” formerly elevated against
The Triple Alliance was a military alliance between Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy formed on March 20th 1882. Each country promised support in the event of attack.
When a soldier enlists into the military forces they know they are going in to fight for their country and freedom for everyone. They spend months training and preparing for the war and what to come. They learn to fight, shoot, and kill enemies, but what they do not learn is how to cope with the after math of the war. Soldiers in war every year come home with many post traumatic effects from what they had witnessed. During world war two this was known as shell shock; however what can be concluded is that world war two impacted the soldiers emotionally and physiologically from the time they entered to post war.
World War I otherwise known as the Great War is a war that had its origins in Europe and was fought between the years 1914 to 1918. It is reported to be one of the largest wars ever fought in history. More than seven million civilians and nine million fighters died in the war. Although there were several events that led to the start of the war, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the immediate cause (Mulligan, 2017) There were two sides to the war: the Central Powers Bulgaria, Germany, Ottoman Empire and Austria Hungary and the Allied Powers which are Belgium, France, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, and America. The end of this war brought about revolutions in the countries that were involved and some underwent political changes.
