World War 2 was one of the worst wars of all time. In 1939, Adolf Hitler started a war because of his genocide of Jewish people. And, he was succeeding. No one could stop him. We needed something to change. If we didn’t stop something soon, Hitler would take over all of the Middle East and presume to take over the world. The US thankfully came up with a solution to this, they created an unstoppable force, the B-29 Superfortress Fighter Plane. The B-29 was the most destructive warplane ever to be invented. It was the fastest, most advanced plane of its time. The B-29 was used in World War Two and won the excruciating war for the Americans. The B-29 is even admired by people today. This is the plane that saved the world. There were nearly …show more content…
They had to work in coal mines and chop wood. On top of that, they were given a very limited number of supplies and hope. With numbers branded to their wrists, they could have also been killed in the countless gas chambers and mean guards that Hitler purchased. They were given wooden beds with no sheets or blankets, stale bread, and broth, and on top of that, they were taunted by the Nazi Guards everywhere. All Jewish people feared Adolf Hitler. He was their worst nightmare. Many Jews believed that they would never make it out alive, others were a little more hopeful, and others rebelled against the Nazis. But what they didn’t know is that the Jews that still remained were going to make it out alive, thanks to the United States and the Allies. World War Two was one of the fiercest, destructive, brutal wars ever to be recorded in history. Great Britain was falling to the Nazis, at the time Great Britain wasn’t as advanced as they are now. Being allied with the most advanced country at the time, the United States, they asked them to create an aircraft that would help them get out of their plight. The United States responded with the most advanced warplane in the history of the world. What is the B-29? World War Two was such a brutal war that the United States actually shut down the automobile manufacturers for 4-5 years just to focus more
The conditions that the Jews and other were put through were super horrible. They were forced into boxcars that didn’t have anything in them and they wondered where they were and where they were going. They stood in the boxcars for days with no food or water to keep them alive. (Joseph)(Source 3) Along their way to the concentration camps they were exposed to harsh weather. In the summer it was scorching hot and in the winter it was freezing cold. Since they were shoved amongst each other they suffered from suffocation. Along their journey many young and old died along the way (“The Holocaust”)(Source 2). Inside the boxcars there was no windows or anyway to breath. It was also very unsanitary because of the abundance of people in them and they didn’t have any water to at least wash themselves with. All they could do was stand there in the dark and wait (Joseph) (Source
While some managed to escape and go into hiding, others were captured and sent to labor camps. While a large quantity of Jews were killed upon arrival, others were evaluated and sent to work. The Jews were starved, beaten, or killed and set on fire to make space for more Jews. All of their valuables had been taken away from them for the Nazi’s greed. They were put in blue striped Joseph Mandrowitz spoke of his journey while travelling to Auschwitz,
Secondly, the Nazis treated the Jews like animals rather than humans at the concentration camps. To start, they were herded around from place to place just like animals are. The book said that the prisoners from the different blocks were forced to fall into ranks and were forced to march and run to another concentration camp, and the SS (Schutzstaffel) made sure they kept going and sustained the pace. If they failed to do that, someone from the SS shot them (Wiesel 84-85). The Jews were basically herded to another concentration camp, just like animals are herded from one pasture to another. Next, the prisoners were also treated like animals because they got little food and did what they need to in order to survive. The text states, “In the wagon where the bread had landed, a battle had ensued. Men were hurling themselves
Ships were also revolutionized during the World War II era. Naval technology was very poor at the time, but once radar technology was developed, navigation and detection was made much easier for submarine and ship pilots. The invention of radar was still very new — being developed only 2 years prior to the start of World War II. Hours of experimentation and development were poured into enhancing radar technology so that the allied forces could better combat the Nazi fleet. Aircrafts were also made more advanced during World War II. Aviation in general was very new at the time, so optimizing what basic aircrafts we had at the time for battle (by equipping them with guns and bombs) was a challenging feat. Considering the first powered flight had taken place only in 1903, only 40 years before
The Jews and other people were killed by the Nazis at random times multiple times. When the Jews were killed, other Jews were forced to do the killed Jews work or the Jewish people would be punished. They had very bad lives at this time.
the non-Jewish and Jewish survivors were left with the impossible task of assimilating back into society. The odds were against them. Some of these odds set against them were restricted freedom and continuing of new forms of brutality. This was very difficult because antisemitism was still alive in the minds of the most radical people in not only Europe, but the whole world. Jews were afraid to go back to their homes and regain their property
Things got hard for the Jews in the Holocaust and who also survived. Ways of life changed. The Nazis changed everything about their ways and their beliefs. The people started questioning their belief in God, their morals of what they viewed themselves as, and also education changed immensely.
By mid-1942, World War II was looking bleak for the Allied powers. The German Wehrmacht was blitzing through Soviet Russia, the Luftwaffe had laid waste to much of London, Rommel was about to take Africa, and the Japanese nearly had control of the Pacific. Fortunately, as the Axis started running low on materiel, America was increasing the Allied supply dramatically. This enormous production capacity displayed by the U.S. was the product of their new military-industrial complex, as plants across the country geared up production of weapons and combat vehicles and the government began pumping resources into the creation of new military-oriented production facilities. The American
Once they got to the camps, they were immediately sorted into two groups, death or slavery. Slavery meant they would have a slower death. Their jobs were to hammer rocks at the quarry. Some people would have to dig up mud, but they would dump it back just for them to work more. They were worked hard every single day, and barely fed. They did not end their work until they died. These were reason on how they enslaved them.
The Jews lived a very painful and depressing life during the Holocaust. Always living in constant fear, not knowing if they'd live another day. If they were caught, they were either killed on the spot or sent to concentration camps. They we starved, experimented on, gassed in chambers, and kept in unimaginable
World War Two featured many great military planes, but two American-made fighters rose above the rest, dominating the skies. The bulky and strong Grumman F6F Hellcat was ripping the enemy to shreds in the Pacific Theatre, while the speedy and precise North American Aviation P-51 Mustang ruled the European Theatre. Without these fighters the war could have taken a different path, as the planes made moves crucial to the Allies’ success. Both the Mustang and the Hellcat had a huge impact in their respective theatres and on the war in general; but when carefully comparing their specifications, purposes, and pilot accomplishments, can one be called superior?
War is an inevitable act of humanity and is very cruel, brutal, and deadly. World War II was one of the bloodiest wars of history, and America was fighting a war in both Europe and Japan; however, the war in Japan would last much longer that Europe’s with no easy ending known. No matter what, there would be many deaths, so America chose the option that would save the largest amount of American lives and end the war — the atom bomb. The use of this atomic weapon was the best, most effective way for the United States to end World War II.
There was a time when Jewish people's lives were in great danger. It was incredibly hard if you were Jewish at that time since many people died. Eleven million people died during the Holocaust. The Jewish population at this time was 9.5 million and six million of them died. Can you imagine what it was like to live through that? The treatment of Jews throughout Europe up through the 1940s was terrible and horrific. The jews were treated dreadfully before, during and after the Holocaust.
World War II was an event that truly left a mark on history, it is probably one of the most famous wars of all-time, especially on a global scale. There are many different reasons why World War II occurred, and those reasons branch out into even more reasons when you look at why each individual country got involved. One could write far more then five pages on that subject alone, because of this I have decided to focus more on why aerial warfare became the big deal that it was in World War II. When the Second World War was coming into being we were only a few decades beyond the First World War, it was
World War II was a horrible event that will be remembered as one of the darkest Points in human history. With estimates of deaths ranging from 60 to 80 million, it is unthinkable to imagine that this chaos was allowed to grow and erupt as it did. Many Americans in the United States, simply thought the madness in Europe would be contained to that continent. However, a new enemy brought the war to our shores.
