Surname 1 Name: Professor: Subject: Date: Worldview Essay Knowing and understanding how an individual sees his or her environment and the world around him or her can give a comprehensive insight of how he or she acts in relation to other people and his or her society. It can also shed light on his or her perspective regarding his role as a global citizen and pertinent issues, and his view on the world and the services he or she can offer in order to better the global condition. I for one, have a global worldview that coincides with the existentialist philosophy. I believe that life has no inherent meaning, and all individuals have originally no purpose in life. Therefore, it is really not required for a person to help others; there is no …show more content…
People are more tolerant and open of some controversial topics such as homosexuality, sex about marriage, interracial relationships, discrimination, feminism, transgender issues, and the like. For me, that is a good thing since it brings us closer to being a global village. Speaking of a global village, it is a good thing that people are more communicative to each other around the world, thanks to the power of social media. Also, people have more capacity to voice out their opinions and messages to a wider variety of audience—a power that can only be enjoyed in the present time. However, despite this, I still think that society needs work on accepting people as they are. New social movements are bordering on discrimination and bigotry despite the message of tolerance they are supposed to be promoting, making them another ugly vehicle of discrimination which runs contrary to their original …show more content…
However, at a larger glance, everything that happens around the world influences the development of humankind and that itself affects how I grow in the global village. As such, I form an opinion over these things and then assess if I can do something to help. If I can, then I will do my part. For now, I am limited in resources being a student at all. However, I can voice out my opinions to the world in order to let people see my point of view. Reaching out my message to the world strengthens the conviction that I am a part of the global village and therefore play my part
Here I would use cross tabulation because there are two variables and start by listing age in the left most column. Each row would represent every age concerned, and then the following columns would be the amount or type of cereal consumed depending on what the question desired.
I see a close comparison between your ideas and theories and those of Enlightened thinkers. Once you have achieved success it is your duty and ‘social responsibility’ to help those around you as you are part of a community that feeds and manifests off one
As stated above, I believe humans should help each other. I understand why people feel the need to potentially harm themselves in the act of saving others. Some do it for glory while others do it out of the kindness of their heart. Humans should go out and help each other, however, before any helping is done one must consider their own self preservation in a
By serving others, I improve not only their lives, but also mine. My church often reaches out to the community and serves them according to their needs. Whether the members of our community need food, shelter, clothes, or school supplies, we are happy to help. I find these service projects satisfying because I get to see my impact I have on society. The look of joy and relief on a person’s face as they receive the the first meal they’ve had in days, or gotten the help they need for their children is priceless and completely unforgettable.
Everyone has a dream or something they want to follow in life. Some want material gain while others want to help as many people as they can. I’m not saying wanting material gain is a bad thing, but what I am saying is that for me, money is not the number one concern when my dream is to help others. My hunger to help others only grows by the day. Because of what’s going on in the world we live in today, I believe that it is important that those who are less fortunate than others have the assistance they need to get to an even playing field, health-wise, with others.
Technology has made me a cynic. With advances like CGI and even simple Photoshop we have come to know that seeing isn't necessarily believing. our eyes can be fooled. Things are not, we have come to believe, what we see them to be. Models are airbrushed movies are enhanced, photos will fool us.
When I was eight years of age, I started to realize that there was an entire word outside of the town, state, and country that I lived in. I became concerned about the lives of others, even those that I didn’t know personally. I often thought “There are people in other countries that don’t even have enough water to live, and I am living an amazing life here in America”. Not only was I concerned for those people, but I took action to help them. It was then that I started a fundraiser to raise money for people that can’t afford the basic necessities to live in third world countries. To this day, I have been saving every penny I could afford to make sure other people can live a better life.
Helping those in need is also a big part of my life. I like to volunteer my time to help those in need who I may not necessarily know. I may not know how exactly my volunteering helps them but I know that my work has made an impact on their life. I think it is important to help those in need even if you do not know them. I being helping and giving back to the community has helped me become more understanding and selfless.
In this first part of this paper I will be explaining my worldview. There are three influences I will focus on to give an in depth look at how I came to my
In class we have been discussing the analogy of perspectives. A perspective is a way of seeing, also thought of as a ‘point of view’. This mental view or outlook can both enhance and constrain how we view the world in our own eyes. In the field of psychology and sociology there are many ways to perceive our world in which we live. No one perspective alone can define the world. Each perspective has its own distinctive strengths and blind spots. In class we have discussed different theories and analogies to better understand the complexity of perspectives.
Point of view is something that many people argue as relativistic and subjective. To explain; it is the external circumstances and events that give reality shape or form which is dependent upon a single person. How does this relate to seeing? As I have mentioned before in a earlier paper we are all victims of our own biases and filters created through our outside means. As it becomes internalized and reflected back out towards the world which creates the binocular view as we have discussed in class lectures. The real question at this point becomes how these extensions of reality become a collective view-point? As an example at what point do we decide what blue is, what it is associations?
When I am at best, I help people. I motivate myself and feel motivated when I get to help others. Whether it’s a stranger, colleague, friends, or family, I feel my passion in assisting those in need. As long as it’s within my capability and moral belief that what people ask for help is ethical and legal, I give them my attention and time. I feel happy that I am able to give a hand, and I feel happy to see people become happy with the help I give them. Helping others put smiles on my face and also on them as well. I feel proud of myself that I have the power to help the
A “worldview” is looked at in many different ways. Logical the way one thinks about life, faith, death, work, values, and morals. As well as “how we see the big picture.” Say for instances you have to make a decision in ones everyday life, and have to deal with actions of the choices one has chose. According to Sire “a worldview is a commitment.” For example your commitment to how one believes. Everyone interprets what they see different and some may have the same views. Depending on how one is brought up in their household. A person philosophy of life,
Since the dawn of human life, people have eternally been searching for the purpose of existence. Humans are innately curious beings, and are blessed to have the capabilities of higher thought processes. Humans use these thought processes to ponder the question of existence. Unfortunately, the evolution of man has not brought the human race any closer to actualizing its purpose on earth. In fact, this issue is such that the more one feels he or she understands it, the more questions concerning it arise. This problem perpetuates itself by the confusion of religion and spirituality, and the roles they hold in society. As the human race evolves, it feels the need to designate structure to its world. As
Unfortunately, the way that the world functions is that some are better off than others, which is why I value being able to help people. The Bible gives us a difficult challenge – to, as often as possible, stop thinking about ourselves and put the needs of others before our own. While this can be difficult to do because it often involves self-sacrifice, it is always worth any expended effort because, as Jesus said, when we serve our neighbor, we also serve Him. Aiding others in their situations may not always be the “easy way out” or the “cool” thing to do, but that is the beauty of the action – often, there is no better feeling than to lay down all your personal concerns to help somebody else.
