Have you ever wondered if texting and walking is dangerous? The text “ Would You Ban Texting and walking? ” by Kristin Lewis, describes how many teens got injured by using their phones while walking. She also writes about many different examples of how it was unsafe, as well as, how it is common sense to known when you should or should not use your phone. I think texting and walking should be banned because it will save a lot of lives in the future. In page 10, at the end of paragraph 3, the author states “Between 2000 and 2011, distracted walking led to more than 11,000 injuries.in the U.S.” This means that people have been distracted by their phones while walking. And this led to to these people getting hurt because they were never aware from their surroundings and distracted with their heads down, looking at their phones the entire time. Texting and walking should definitely be banned because serious injury may occur. On page 10 it states, “In 2012, a 15-year-old on her phone was on her phone and was hit by a car and killed.” That incident showed people should really be more careful doing anything involving multitasking. In the text of the Scholastic Scope magazine in “Would you Ban Texting and walking?” it states, “In 2014, a 14-year old was seriously injured after stepping off a bridge while on his phone.” This quote explains that being on your phone while walking distracts teenagers and make them get hurt if they don’t pay attention of what they are doing. Those who disagree may say that walking with a phone is safe because it helps us get to where we are, or even say it is common sense when or when not to use your phone. In fact unless a law is passed teenagers will probably still use their phones. So walking with phones should be banned because many people get
