Claim: Wrigley’s Eclipse Chewing Gum Kills Bad-Breath causing Germs. Wrigly Eclispe Chewing gum ran an advertising campaign stating their gum killed germs that caused bad breath, while their closest competitors only masked the smell of bad breath. The claim that Wrigley Gum kills bad breath germs is untrue. The gum had and has no ‘mechanism or chemical’ to kill germs that cause bad breath in the human mouth. The validity of this claim can be tested by (1) reviewing the active ingredients or chemicals in the gum and determining if those ingratiates neutralize germs that cause bad breath or (2) doing a before and after mouth germ test.
