In the story Thank You Ma’am, A lady named Mrs. Jones was walking home from work. It was very late when a boy named Roger tried to steal her purse. When that happened she took the situation very well. She actually took him home fed him and cleaned him up. Mrs. Jones noticed that he needed help because he wasn’t cleaned up and his hair wasn’t brushed. I honestly this might just help me if I ever get in a situation like this. Another reason why she handled the situation why she did was her religion. I believe this because; she said she would do some things she wouldn’t even tell God if he didn’t know. Most likely in her religion you are meant to do good things to others. Like when she took him in her house and fed him. Also she gave him money
Feelings are an abstract concept that takes children time and experience to understand and deal with in a socially acceptable manner. These activities have served to give the children in my class the foundation and the words needed to express their feelings. I can also use this strategy to remind children that emotions are okay, that words have power, and they now have the words.
She tries to convince him that he is actually a good man. She then turns it around telling the misfit that he should pray. He takes this as an excuse for his behaviors stating maybe if he had known the truth about Jesus he wouldn’t have done the things he did. The grandmother then states “Why you’re one of my babies. Your one of my own children!” (529} and reached out and touched him. This could be seen as good after all of the things he had just done. Or it could be seen as yet another manipulation to save her own life.
She had many questions about God. She wanted to be Christian, but it was hard for her to not have answers to her demands. The biggest request that she had, was “Why does God, let innocent people suffer?” (Payne 14). This question made her curious.

In the story ¨Thank you ma'am¨, Mrs Jones invites the boy into her home for good reasons. She told him to come in so she can clean him up and have him looking presentable. She knew that nobody was at home helping him so she figured that she should. She knew that they the boy really did notwant to steal her purses that why she instilled so much fear in the boy,and she knew all of this because she use to snatch purses when she was younger. She teaches him that you don’t need to steal if you want something in life. You could just ask, because someone would be willing to show an act of kindness.
