The United States currently spends billions of dollars every year chasing and locking up people who use and sell marijuana. The taxpayers have to foot the bill to pay for food, housing, health care, attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses to lock these people up. Ohio could save millions of dollars every year if we stop wasting money locking people up for having marijuana. If marijuana were legal, the Ohio government would be able to collect taxes on it, and there would be a lot more money to pay for effective drug education programs and other important causes like our schools.
