During his childhood, he didn’t see his father much, because he served in the military in Europe during World War II, he a lot didn’t see his mother much, she worked in a Chicago ammunition factory. "I was reared by my grandmother and several aunts," he once said. "I first saw my father when I was seven in the Philippines where my parents and I lived from 1946 to 1949." When he flunked out of college, he joined the U.S. Army, serving from 1959 to 1962, and working with missiles. When his tour of duty was over, he took extra courses to become a certified field engineer, finding work in the aerospace departments of Bendix and Lockheed corporations. Also after high school he went to a library the librarian asked him if he needed anything, he said he just wanted to be warm. The librarian said “would you like a book” Gary said “sure”, the librarian told him to bring it back when he got done reading it, this all went on for a long time, from westerns to science fiction. Gary began reading books in the basement of his house. At first it took Gary about a month to read a book, but over time he got to be a faster reader and was able to read two books in one week. As Gary later says, when she handed me a library card, she handed me the world. Gary says “I would have been an intellectual idiot without the library.” Gary was in an amphitheater and a whole bus load of middle school kinds came and and were looking for him. They wanted to know about different parts of Hatchet. It was one of the greatest moments in his life, he loved all the questions and how the kids actually cared about the book that he his self had written. His most popular book is Hatchet the book is about a boy named Brian and he was in a plane crash. He who survives 54 days in the wild Canadian forest. After he got out of the forest, he never felt right again. The woods changed him. Later on in his life after he got home and settled in back with his family. The woods were calling his name so he had to go. The books continue with Brian surviving in the woods. Gary is one of the most liked young adult fictions writers. He has published just about 150 books for the young adults. As well as 50 or so others for the different type of readers. He would use his outdoor survival skills in his books. July 21, 2012 was the best experience of my life, and it took place in The Alamodome parking lot in San Antonio Texas. Being able to meet a legend who has inspire me since I was younger was incredible. A man who impacted my life in many aspects. Paul Rennick is the percussion director at The University of North Texas, where he is currently teaching members of The Santa Clara Vanguard Percussion section. I met Mr. Rennick in the parking lot where the Santa Clara Vanguard Battery was warming up and getting ready to perform for the fans. I will never forget such a great time watching and meeting Mr. Rennick and the performers who impacted me and left me in shock because of how great their music and performance was.

The Koontz family experienced staggering poverty while Dean was growing up. Ultimately, this poverty was due to his alcoholic father who was extremely violent. Therefore, to get his mind off his outrageous childhood, he read and wrote short stories. Arriving at college, he published his first book called “The Kittens”. During college, he married another writer, Gerda Ann Cerra, and they continued to write books together. Before becoming the famous writer, he is today, he held plenty of jobs.

When he was at the age of 8 he contracted Chorea, a disease that causes involuntary, unpredictable body movements, so Warhol was confined to bed. During his recovery he was taught to draw by his mother (Brown, 2015). He developed a love for drawing, and he started to draw in his spare time. As soon as he got healthy he decided to take up photography. He went on to graduate high school and enroll in Carnegie Institute of Technology where he studied commercial art (Brown, 2015).
