Writing A Literary Essay - Original Writing

Writing has always been alien to me, I have always struggled putting my thoughts down on paper. While my childhood friends had diaries, I could not fathom why anyone would need one. The idea of putting your thoughts down on a piece of paper did not resonate with me, although I have always had a passion for reading, and found reading when I was a child a great way to get away without going anywhere. I have always been jealous of those that can put pen to paper and write as if it was second nature to them. Whereas even as I write this, I find that I am struggling with finding the right words to express how I am feeling about writing a literary essay for this writing class. I am still an avid reader and will always find solace in reading anything the piques my interest from the first page to the last. If the book pulls me in from the first page, I find it difficult to put it down before I finish it; I have lost sleep over finishing a good book.
Like everyone, I was first introduced to writing in elementary and writing a book report for what was back then called “English” class, and from first grade to middle school you were taught the basics in writing, but nothing as involved as writing for a Communications course in college. In High school we were required to take one writing class and I did not do so well back then and my skills have not improved throughout the years.
Now that I am in my third year of college, I realize that my skills have improved in the writing arena but…
