Writing Assignments : My Writing Assignment

The small group of people who had large impact on the history of the world were the ancient Israelite's, who were called Hebrews. The ancient Hebrew’s were acknowledged by historians to have founded the first monotheistic religion. Today this religion is known as Judaism, and the people who follow Judaism would be called Jews.

For the past fifteen years I have learned how to spell, write sentences, use correct grammar and punctuation and the list continues. Over the last ten years is when writing has really come into play. I've been assigned numerous assignments that have required writing which has taught me my specific writing style. A few things that I like about my writing style consist of the following: I consider myself a creative writer, I have a fairly good vocabulary and excellent grammar. A few things that need improvement in my writing are the use of commas, run on sentences and the formatting of my papers. Although those specific writing characteristics may be basic they are the three that are most challenging for me.

This course has affected me in my development as a student by helping ease into returning to school. I started this semester apprehensive because I have been out of school for 17 years. It is tough returning to school especially with technology having changed so much over the years; there was no such thing as online classes in 2000. This course has reacquainted me with my study habits and time management skills. Since the very first lesson in Unit 1, this class has showed me what is available on the Kaplan website for students to use. It also taught me to communicate online and general class information. This information is good for someone like me who is first-time online student. It also has helped me with my time management skills. It made me realize that I could make better use of my time. The adjustments I made in my time management has made me more productive, with balancing two classes, work and my home life.

Mrs. Shelton, I really apologize for submitting writing with too many errors. I do want let you know that I have been trying to utilize the Writing Center from day one. Yet, I have not able to get a schedule earlier than a week and half early. Which, I had considered to get my writing assignment done a week earlier to get Writing Center's feedback. Working 50 hours per week and trying to keep up two classes did not leave me much time to be a week ahead with my writing assignment.

The last piece of paper I will refer to was the comparison paper. In the comparison paper I felt I also learned about two influential women from two very different periods and also enjoyed connecting and comparing the two. Through these pieces of work I feel I've improved my grammar and spelling and also have learned how to write in English a paper that requires investigation and expressing thoughts, something that I've never done before. Before this semester the last time I wrote in English was 9 years ago and even then I don’t remember myself ever writing an essay, mostly un-seens and book reports. I feel that next semester in need to continue to improve my writing skills. I feel that my oral skills are relatively good, but my writing skills need to improve. I feel that I am not able to really express myself in English through writing. I feel that my vocabulary and grammar are not fluent enough. I enjoy writing about topics that have to do with current events and politics. I enjoy expressing my thoughts and comparing different situations and using creativity to connect

This paper is a graduate-level writing assignment designed to prepare the student for their first practicum site. It was based on the student’s first interview with a client. The information was built from the recording session with the student’s first client. It is a tool for the student to learn how to navigate the interview process. The student’s professionalism was observed. The therapeutic relationship with the client was examined. The student’s skills were analyzed. The basic counseling skills were evaluated. The complexity of the counseling session and it many elements were experienced.

College. English. Papers. This semester, for English 125, I wrote a total of three final papers and read fifteen various text; each with a different argument. I went from soaring through political documents, to running through a field littered with stereotypes, only to end up in a land where the government dictates a society. Each paper I wrote and every text I read connected back to each adventure I had to endure. The first paper for this semester I was blind towards the potential I exhibited as a writer, the second paper I ventured out into the unknown, and the third paper tested the skills I possessed as a writer when conducting research on Christianity; a topic that was foreign to me. I came into this course expecting to be challenged along the way, since I always had a passion for English, and that test was clearly met. The papers written, along with the text read, has not only allowed me to produce bold statements with the objective in mind, but maximize the potential I possess as a writer and reader.

Self-assessment writing is a great way to gain insight into how effective my writing style is and helps me to recognize improvement where they’re needed. Throughout the semester there have been three major essays written. Each one a different style giving the writer a different mindset each time, this results in the finding problems in one essay that may not have happened in another. When self-assessing there needs to be to a criteria on which one can reflect on and categorize their weakest and strongest points in writing, these criteria for example can be content, organization and coherence, style, argument and support, and mechanics. After categorizing there are questions that need to be asked such as, as a writer, what do you do well? And what aspect of your writing needs the most improvement?

Through this course, I have discovered that when an art piece is complete, it’s style, form and content while expressed by the artist, is interpreted by the viewer. The meaning of art to me has changed as I have come to realize that while there are a variety of styles and forms of art that each artist uses, each individual viewer is free to have one’s own opinion and thought about the piece. Not only have I come to learn to appreciate art from a variety of time periods, the meaning of art for me has changed how I view the art I enjoy, as well as how I view the art that I do not adore, but can now appreciate it for it’s cultural or religious significance, for it’s value through the ages, as well as through its use of elements and design.
