36 Chambers unravels the intricate web of personalities that Wu-Tang Clan has to offer since there are nine official members. They often talk about the struggle growing up in impoverished New York, in Wu-Tang’s song “C.R.E.A.M” Raekwon raps, “I grew up on the crime side/ the New York time side stayin alive was no jive/ had second hands mom’s bounced on old man/ So then we moved to Shaolin land” (Wu-Tang). In those lyrics he talks about growing up surrounded by crime and his mother leaving his father then moving to Staten Island. On this whole track Wu-Tang talks about being surrounded by crime, drugs, and violence.
