In WWI militarism, the alliances, and imperialism started the war due to this it was the underlying cause of WWI. Countries were scared and some felt threatened. Imperialism is a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. An alliance is a union or association formed for mutual benefit, especially between countries or organizations. Militarism is the belief or desire of a government or people that a country should maintain a strong military capability and be prepared to use it aggressively to defend or promote national interests. These were the three most important parts of why WWI happened scaring some, threatening to some, and a lot of it was just pure jealousy of land. Alliances played a big roll in the war scaring society into who had more power over the other. A week after the war broke out an article/cartoon was released “The Crime Of The Ages. Who Did It?” Germany was fighting Russia, Austria fighting Serbia, and Italy in confusion on what they should do being scared of the other countries overpowering them. These alliances made the war bigger than what it was supposed to be because once a country was fighting their allies had to help them with the bring up of a bigger fight. Germany spent one hundred and ten million pounds by 1914 with their ally Austria-Hungary spending thirty-eight million pounds. The Triple Entente (Britain, Russia, and France) on the other hand spent two hundred and twenty-six pounds. This helped cause the war for when the military and the arms build-up started more soldier meant a stronger military.
