One of the main consequences of World War II was the immense death toll; as stated in the text, World War II ended with two atomic blasts, causing the deaths of 35 million civilians and 15 million military personnel. As with World War I, this second War caused the borders of European countries to drastically change. Germany had been broken up into sections, some aligning with the Allies and others with the Soviet Union. This war also caused huge changes in Asia and Africa; due to many European countries exhausting all their resources during the war, they were unable to manage their colonies in other countries, and these countries took their independence during this time.
World War Two was one of the major influential events of the twentieth century, with nearly thirty nine million deaths in Europe alone. Huge amounts of capital were destroyed as well as going through six years of constant ground battles. Many Citizens were forced to leave or give up their owned property without compensation and they had to move on to new lands. Hunger periods become more and more common even Western Europe. Many families were separated for long periods of time especially from the male figure. Several people and children would personally witness the catastrophic events and bombing that took place in the areas where they lived. Huge crimes against the word were committed. Due to World War Two political and economics system in a lot countries would be altered eternally.
Ever thought about how World War II really started? It was really quite simple on how it started. There were a lot of people who fought and lived or died in World War II. The oldest World War II fighter is 110 years old, his name is Richard Arvine Overton. World War II made crucial impacts to the whole world that were negative and changed people's lives.
The United States was the same way, in that it quickly got back on track after the war. When the first world war ended, Americans were set on staying neutral and not getting involved. But after the Pearl Harbor bombing, they joined WWII. They had successfully ended the war by forcing Japan to surrender, and created the Marshall Plan which financially supported many Western European countries. America helped reconstruct Europe after the devastation the war caused. While the US did bomb Japan, destroying its cities and killing many people, they became allies later on and helped rebuild the damage they created. Thousands of US citizens joined the military and several died, and during the war the country was poverty-stricken. Many Americans were
At the end of World War One, Europe was left in a devastating state, four major empires disappeared and the economy was profoundly damaged. The first global war had taken place and fear of a second one was strongly felt across the continent. In order to bring political order to European politics and to prevent such a catastrophe from ever happening again, the Paris Peace Settlement took place. The outcomes were the signing of the Treaty of Versailles and the foundation of the League of Nations in 1919. Despite the inherently weak attempts to prevent a repetition of WW1, twenty years later, WWII broke out upon the invasion of Poland by Germany. Although exploding from a
In the mid-twenties, the world was affected by a numerous amount of significant wars, but the one that I will be focusing on is known as World War 2 (WW2). WW2 started 21 years after World War 1 from 1939 to 1945. It was an extremely deadly war, one of the deadliest wars in war history to be exact. According to the textbook, Handbook for the Humanities during its six-year period the war left over seventeen million soldiers and over eighteen million civilians’ dead (Benton 289). In the book History of the second war it explains that this disaster was initiated by Adolf Hitler and his deadly plan to invade Poland so that the German people could expand and attain additional living space (Hart 3). During this time the leader of the Nazi Party, Hitler was holding Jewish men, women, and children in concentration camps in hopes to eliminate the entire “race.” Before WW2 Germany was hit hard by the great depression and was going through an economic crisis, he used the holocaust and the invasion as a justification to limit inflation. The war was between two countries broken into groups. On one side were the Axis Powers and on the other side were the Allies. The Axis powers included Japan, Germany and Italy, while the Allies included Britain, Australia, France, the Soviet Union, and China, the United States did not join the Allies until a few years later. The war was fought in Europe, Asia, Russia, and North
In the early to mid-1900s America was faced to go through wars and racial discrimination. Intolerance towards race and religion continued for years before the U.S. entered World War 2. But after WWII America lead the path for change. Book authors Thomas Bruschino and Derek Charles Catsam both explain the change that forged America to the America it is today. The books of Bruschino and Castam; A nation forged in war, freedom main line: the journey of reconciliation and the freedom rides. Bruscino writes of the time before WWII to the time during WWII to the time after WWII while Catsam continues to the effect that WWII had on America. World War II is argumentatively one of the largest events in war history. World War II changed that world and everyone who lived during those six years. Many people believe that Adolf Hitler was the central cause for the war, however, it is important to understand that there are many other causes. These include: Treaty of Versailles, Fascism, Hitler and the Nazi party, the Great Depression, and appeasement. It would be extremely difficult to place blame on only one specific person or event for World War II. However, a mixture of many things can and may however hold the blame for World War II. It is crucial to understand the impact that World War II left countries throughout the world, especially since only eight countries declared neutrality during this wartime. Even though only eight countries remained neutral during WWII, it does not mean that every other country in the world was heavily involved in the world. Even countries who were not heavily involved in the war, were still effected by the war itself.
World War II was a colossal event that started in 1939 through 1945 and left a massive impact on our world (Benson, 1720). WWII started with three countries called the three axis of evil and their persistent motivation for world dominance. These three countries were Japan, Germany, and Italy (Benson, 1720). The United States was at first a bystander in WWII and it was until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Hawaii did the United States take action. Japan bombed Pearl in order to seek domination over the country. The United States got retribution by dropping two atomic bombs on Japan’s two most popular cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki under the order of President Truman (Benson, 1723). These atomic bombs were not made in retaliation to Japan, but instead
World War II had a significant effect on the economies of the countries involved, and on them in general. Citizens in some parts of Europe lost their jobs as a result of their countries in Europe needing money to repair broken infrastructures and roads destroyed by tanks and other means of warfare. According to an article on EuroNews.com, countries like Germany were almost destroyed. Because of this, these countries had to depend on aid from other nations to return to prominence. The war caused Germany to split into two separate regions
