Over the summer me and my family went to Yosemite national park. One of the hikes we did was 10 hours and 16 miles, it was brutal. On the way up the mountain we climbed 5,000 feet, and we saw two waterfalls. Id say the highlight of the trip was getting to the car after that hike and drinking ice cold
We kept driving for another hour until we got to our cabin. When we pulled up to the cabin we were in awe because of the snow on the mountain tops, the frozen lake, and all the tall and beautiful trees everywhere .
Yellowknife is 62° north it is really close to arctic circle it receives less energy from the sun which means it's cold there the temperature can go to -27°in with the and 17°< in summer Yellowknife is at the leeward side that's why it receives low precipitation and alot of sunshine the rain shadow from the western mountains Yellowknife has very cold winters and warm
The mountains were tall (11,000 feet +) and covered with bright powdery snow. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. I was eager to set-up camp and prepare for our nine day hunt. But, Dad said that we had to drive around and check out all the good places, just to make sure that we were in
In 1932 a football team was founded with the name Redskins. Redskins being an outdated contemptuous term used to refer to Native Americans. This term has always been offensive and as time progressed it's become more controversial. Now, 85 years later, the name is continuing to stir up trouble within many more communities. Christine Flowers fans these flames of controversy through her writing. In the article “Amid so much real trouble, who has time for the ‘Redskins’ crisis?”, Native Americans are marginalized through the use of association, microinvalidations, and dismissive framing.
As hunters across the state venture out into Alaska's forests and tundra in hopes of filling their freezer with moose meat, hunters in the Lower kuskokwim have bit the bullet and hung up their rifles. They are entering the first year of a self-imposed five-year moose-hunting moratorium they hope will significantly improve their moose hunting in the future.“The main stem of the Lower Kuskokwim is one of the few places left in Alaska that has outstanding moose habitat and extremely low numbers of moose,” said Roger Seavoy, the Bethel area biologist for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
The first time was in the summer of 1973, traveling there with my wife and then-infant son. It was overcast that day. But we didn't need sunshine to take in the splendor of what towered over us in the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Once upon a time, in a land not so far away. By that I mean about an hour or two drive from visalia. When I was eight and my brother four. We had gone tobogganing with our family. The snow was glistening white and quite untouched by any other people for there was no lemon flavored snow.
Sight, I saw many cool things on the hiking trip. I saw rocks in the middle of the rushing waters that were disputing the water away from it. Another thing I saw was a tree that was 30 times taller than me.
My mom, Kailli and I were spending our first week of summer in the hot dry sun of Palm Desert. As we were planning out our agenda for the next day, we came across a brochure for the Taquitz falls three miles deep into the hot Palm springs desert. We had to see it with our own eyes to believe it. A waterfall in the middle of the desert seemed bizarre, so the next morning we set off for our hike at six in the morning. After a couple bumps in the road we finally began our hike
A mascot is a person or thing that is supposed to bring good luck or that is used to symbolize a particular event or organization. A mascot is something every school has, whether it’s a person or an animal or something of that sort. Every school and college has a mascot. Some people take mascots as racial slurs some people don’t. Most people think that these mascots should be abolished because they feel as if they are racially stereotyped or just flat out rude in some ways. I went to a high school in a little city about an hour and 45 minutes from Lafayette called Houma. In Houma we have over a dozen schools, all having their own mascot of course. Out of all the schools in the city of Houma, I’ve only attended
On this one fine day, we had a typical Colorado snow storm.. I can recall this very trip to the wonderful
I don't do much winter hiking - we don't have much day light. I try to hike one or 2 mountains at the most. You should definitely try it. It's amazing how the mountains look in winter from summer. This past winter I hiked Carter Dome Mountain - the views on my way up were just stuning. I love hiking in general and always up for any monutain with good views :)
Few years ago I was in Florida. My friend and I were driving back from a little town on the Atlantic coast back to Orlando to catch our flight back home. It was a warm sunny afternoon, but fifteen minutes later it was pouring rain and we could not see beyond the hood.
We were in the middle of the desert, basically having no sense of direction whatsoever. Riding down the coastline of a twenty-mile island off the coast of Venezuela. Not knowing where to go was an issue but my brother, Ben, and I were on the ATV zooming through the desert seeing various attractions throughout the trip. Watching animals run everywhere, experiencing the views of little beaches with huge waves it was like a dream come true.
