As teacher’s we are committing to a life time of learning and development of ourselves and our learners.

As an enthusiastic Biology Ambassador for my sixth form, I enjoy learning about life processes and how individual components come together to fulfil a function. Research has huge significance in the discovery of new treatments and our understanding of life processes, in regards how things work, and making scientific advancements to accommodate for the way in which they work. I believe that a research placement at Nuffield is an amazing opportunity for me to strengthen my knowledge.

Dan’s son Fenn had a big couple of weeks. He got his first bicycle and is constantly asking to ride it. He also enjoyed going to the Bug Festival this year where he got to see and touch all kinds of off and unusual bugs. He particularly enjoyed getting to steer a cockroach through a maze using a joystick that wirelessly connected to a computer chip that had been installed in the roach. He also enjoyed seeing the live shark they have at the museum. Lastly he went to the Carolina Hurricanes Carnival and played lots of games and went in every bounce house at least twice. He waited in a long line to take a shot at winning a hockey jersey and somehow at three years old he made the shot and won the jersey.

As a teacher, one of my main roles is to motivate my learners, to develop their ability to learn also to develop my learner’s aspiration to learn. When you train to teach you read about delivering training and how to facilitating learning, but in reality you do much more than that, your role as a teacher is not just about teaching your subject or preparing learners for assessment. The focus of your role as a teacher I feel relates very much to inspiring your learners to change and develop their personal, social and professional skills to the best of their

Despite the many challenges I face daily, remembering that I significantly influence the lives of each my students will help me in becoming a better teacher leader. Reason and Reason (2011) states that a mission will not come to fruition without ownership and ownership cannot be stimulated without consistently reminding everyone why they come to work each day. It is my mission every day to transform lives in my classroom and school environment. I have chosen a career in education because I believe that it is one of the most important functions performed in our culture. I believe that teachers individually and collectively have the ability to not only change the world but to improve it.

Rita Pierson, an American educator, once stated, “Every child deserves a champion, an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be” (“Every Kid,” 2013). Her comment is reflected within my philosophy of teaching. One’s philosophy of education defines who they strive to be as an educator; it clearly forms the way one will teach and guides their expectations for their students. Children are the future of our country. Therefore, I believe it is the responsibility of a teacher to strive to be the best educator possible by having cultural competence and pedagogical knowledge to effectively teach their students. This can be done by motivating students to learn through self-discovery based on their interests and what is relevant to their lives. It is a teacher’s responsibility to guide students towards their own goals to grow intellectually and personally as a unique individual. Accordingly, students will be inspired to use acquired skills and knowledge towards the real world.

I utilise opportunities to create purposeful learning environments that encourage children to be motivated and inspired; both inside and outside of the classroom. Throughout my practice, I have taught many lessons, this demonstrates my increasingly sound knowledge of the primary curriculum. I have always been interested in a variety of subjects and I am looking forward to delivering the curriculum when I begin my teaching career. I believe my lessons are most effective when planned and delivered using a variety of teaching strategies to maximise achievement for all children, including those with special educational needs and high achievers.

It is the duty of the educator to prepare students to live lives of quality and purpose. Intellectually, a life of quality involves being reasonable, adept, and thoughtful, and enables people to be good citizens of their community. Skills that will prepare students to live such a life include the ability to reason carefully, to think agilely, and to reflect deeply. These skills are attained best when students evaluate how others express their thinking and precisely what thinking is expressed. The students themselves attempt to express substantive ideas in clear and convincing ways. The teacher is foremost a model of that which is taught, which obligates the teacher to live that life of quality and purpose. As a model, the teacher is therefore able to act as a guide for others, serving occasionally as a source of knowledge but mostly as one who points the way for fellow explorers.

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to play a big part in children’s education, which is why I have decided to enroll for an education course. I believe that educators have a lifelong impact on their students and on the development of resilience. Thus, I aspire to inculcate my love for learning into the next generation, by influencing and inspiring children all through their formal education.

Successful teaching occurs when the teacher is able to select the most efficient method for reaching out to each student’s individual style of learning and inspire students to rise to their highest potential. While the responsibilities of a teacher are extensive (as one can serve as a teacher, a friend, a counselor, a disciplinarian, an entertainer, a facilitator), I believe that students should play a big part in shaping own education as well.

I see students as the next generations’ heroes in so many fields. In my vision, I have to inspire students and prepare them with confidence, knowledge, experience and skills. Which means I encourage, communicate, guide, teach, and assess students in order to enrich their infrastructures.

As a teacher, I will try to enrich the minds of students. I want them to understand the importance of education. I hope to serve as a role model and gain respect from all of my pupils. I trust that my teaching strategies will be inspiring, and my dedication and passion for teaching obvious. I hope that after every successful year of teaching I develop a feeling of satisfaction. I want my students to have an understanding of education and a positive outlook on life. I hope that by my passion for teaching I will have an impact on my students. I want them to walk away with a continuing eagerness and motivational drive to learn and advance.

My philosophy of teaching is deeply rooted in nurturing the potential each and every student in my classes. Providing a creative environment that allows self assessment, growth, group interaction and mentorship are at its very core. Having taught in Higher Education for many years, and as an instructor of Media Arts and Animation, and Game Design, I have had the amazing opportunity to work with some of the brightest and creative young professionals. Teaching has not only broadened my love of art and exploration, but my determination to help students that do not have the confidence to persevere through their education, yet have the passion to follow their dreams.
