I know it can be hard to exercise after you have taken a break. I feel you. In September I started to teach a lot more yoga classes and completely stopped going to the gym.
My body started to hurt because I was too flexible and I didn't have a strong enough structure to support this practice. Even though I felt this pain and knew working out was the answer it took me a bit of time to get back into it because I would say to myself "I'm too busy to workout."
Well guess what? The first day after I went back to the gym to focus on re-building a stable foundation I felt strong. Of course I couldn't do half of what I could do before I stopped going to the gym but it doesn't matter. I felt good.

I say this regularly while practicing balancing poses with my fellow yogis, "maybe notice that everyday and even each side of the body is different." Life is about the journey not the destination so continue to allow it to evolve, as it will. I'm able to be aware of my body and come to it from an attitude of gratitude, compassion, understanding, and respect about it's abilities and know when is too much and too little exercise.
Yoga has also show me to let go. With each exhale you have the opportunity to release tension, release comparisons, release judgement, resentment, worry, and blame.
3) Mindful Movement
Mindful movement is the act of being aware while you move. Aware of all five senses, so how your body feels while you're exercising, what your environment smells like, the temperature of your body, the rate of the breath, the sounds around you, etc. Being aware while you're exercising is so important so that you are less likely to get injured, create mind-muscle connection, and also breathe properly.
4) Intuitive Exercise
This is where the importance of knowing how much and what type of exercise is right for you. Exercise is meant to be pleasurable not a punishment! Listen to your inner guide and do what feels good.
Remember that if your body is aching, let it move. Honour your body by following through with what it's calling

I never meant to abandon yoga. It just happened and the repercussions were cataclysmic for my overall wellbeing.
One of the main reasons people begin to exercise is because of weight control. Whether it is losing or gaining weight, progression is earned by hard work and dedication. When rookies start working out for the first time, after a workout they may experience muscle soreness. This is a result of the muscle fibers tearing. When they are torn, they re-grow stronger and bigger than before. Working out is also one of the best ways to burn calories which is needed to lose weight.
I decided to take Weight Training because I needed a fitness class and I believe that this course would motivate me to attain my personal and physical goals. My personal goals are to find an outlet to improve my mood and reduce my stress levels and gain a positive self-image. Exercising has been shown to enhance moods and lower stress. Currently, stress is having negative effects on my lifestyle because I experience fluctuating moods and barely get a good night’s sleep. I previously experienced the positive effects of exercising when I used to do Shaun’s T Focus T25. Since then, I abandoned it and have not been working out since then.
There’s a lot you can do now to maintain your current muscle tone and even get back some of the tone you’ve lost.
Exercise is a gift for the body, not a punishment. Rest when it is required, but identify the difference between needing a rest and when you feel lethargic, getting out for a walk or a swim could be just the thing you need to invigorate you. Exercise releases endorphins into your body, which produce positive feelings. Try to find exercises that you enjoy doing, such as yoga, rowing, or even exercise tapes. As with food, it is the choices you make consistently that creates well being.

My yoga journey started more than ten years ago with an intense and dedicated interest in learning yoga postures from Ashtanga, Hatha, Jivamukti, etc. In the beginning I practised most days of the week and imagined that I would never tire, in spite of long trips to the studio in the early hours of the morning. A pleasant reward was that my blood pressure dropped back to normal and I could stop taking medicines. I began to slack off on my exercising, being that I could already lift a great deal more than any of my friends, not to mention I had gained an additional five pounds bringing my total weight gain to twenty pounds. Adding even more difficultly to maintaining my exercise routine, I took on a career as a traveling salesman, requiring me work long days and living out of hotels most of the year. I also continued in poor eating, abuse alcohol, and sleep for only a few hours a night. Over the next two years of irregular and undedicated exercise, I had lost ten pounds and nearly all my strength. Throughout this six week session I've gained a much better understanding of yoga and how it really works. I've learned that yoga not only helps the body flexibility but also helps you throughout the day from the different techniques you learn and do on a daily basis. In fact, what I find interesting about yoga is that it's not all about physical activity but being one with yourself, as if getting to know yourself throughout these exercises. I also feel as though yoga helps release tension and negative energy from the body, while clearing the mind and making you feel like a new person after exercising. For example, every morning that I wake up there are times I don't want to get out of bed or do anything, but once I get to class it's like a heavy burden been released off of my shoulders and I begin to feel good and happy. Doing yoga puts me in a better mood.
