The children were last seen on July 5th. They will come for a weekend visit this upcoming weekend. Reporter is concerned about the children being smelly and dirty. In Alabama in the early 1970’s, there was a height and weight limitation, in order to be considered as a candidate for becoming a prison guard. The restrictions were minimum 5’2 and 120 pounds. Such requests ruled out Dianne Rawlinson, who made a class action suit against the requirements, as she thought that they violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Dianne Rawlinson raised the legal question in Court whenever height and weight requirements for employment as a prison guard in the Alabama would violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.
According to the National Children’s Alliance, one in four girls and one in six boys under the age of eighteen are at risk of being sexually abused but only according to what is reported. In the State of Texas, a professional has forty-eight hours to report any cause to believe a child been abused as stated in Sec. 261.101. As a foster parent and principal, Angela Sugarek and Carol Jeffery had a major moral responsibility and legal duty to report what her three year old foster son was displaying: behaving strangely and an anal injury.

The lawsuit transpired against Department of Human Services in Mississippi because the system deserted the children. In this case, a young girl named Olivia Y was abused by her mother and the foster home. While taking her out the home at the age of three, the system continually neglected her. Department of Family Children Service failed to present Olivia with adequate medical and health support. “This case is alleged that Mississippi’s foster care system was failing adequately to protect children in its custody and provide necessary services in violation of their federal constitutional rights (www.mdhs.state.ms/olivia-y-lawsuit/”).
The first person I chose was none other than the iconic, motivational speaker, activist herself, Madam CJ Walker. She empowered so many women of color to be independent and has paved the way for aspiring and current entrepreneurs , mainly women, who are looking to go into the cosmetology field. Walker, whose birth name was Sarah Breedlove, hadn’t always been the successful entrepreneur she was, and had to work extremely hard to obtain her multi-million legacy. She was born when slavery was still prevalent, and her parents, as well as older siblings, worked as slaves on a plantation in Louisiana(her home state). Luckily, the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, freeing all slaves from their owners, Madam Walker was the first of her six siblings
“I want to live to help my race” Madam CJ Walker once said. She was a woman who would not let racial and gender barriers stop her from doing what she wanted. She was born into a family of former slaves, who did not have enough money to send any of the children to school. In 1887 her husband Moses was killed in a lynch mob, the reason was because he was black. So, Madam CJ Walker had to raise their 2-year-old daughter alone. At that time, it was hard to find a job to support her daughter, who she wanted to attend school and have a better life than she did. It was also very difficult to find a house because banks wound not loan money to African Americans so it was difficult to save up money to buy one. When she moved to St. Louis she washed clothes

Social worker Aide (Heather Hawkins) took them to the doctor with their biological parents (Christopher Buckley and Brittany Gregory). The mother said it appears the children are sick and malnourished. Prior to them coming into custody on 10/6 they had a cold. They went to the doctor on 10/7 in Yazoo City. Due to Ms. Walker saying they had diarrhea I took them to the doctor on 10/21. Charley was diagnosed with severe

My impression of Mrs. Walker is that she is a loving, concerned parent. I know this because she sacrificed her time to come to the school to advocate for her son’s learning. I would be very empathic to Mrs. Walker. We share many of same concerns and goals for Drew. We both want to fight for Drew’s learning and success. First, I would listen to her concerns. I want to show Mrs. Walker that I truly care for her and her son. Mrs. Walker’s thoughts and feelings about the situation are important for me to know and for her to express. After listening to Mrs. Walker, I will respond with empathy. I want to fight for Drew’s learning and acknowledge that Drew is balancing a lot outside of school. Next, I will inform Mrs. Walker that Drew needs to complete his homework because it is vital to his learning. But because of Drew’s responsibilities outside of school, I would suggest that we develop a creative and strategic plan to get Drew back on track with homework and learning. It would be best to have Drew’s input on the plan. So I would suggest another meeting to build a plan. In-person would be better, but if there are time constraints the meeting could be over the phone. In sum, I will do everything in my power to make sure Mrs. Walker knows that I am on her side and on Drew’s side. In addition, I will do
