Ariana Ariana, you are cheerful and motivated. You are not afraid to be vulnerable. You were the first one to present PPP and you were not afraid to question your team. You were not afraid to tell your team that you felt like an outsider. I think having this conversation helped you to be a part of that team and continue the good work. Your goal was to engage in conversations and experiences that make you feel vulnerable. I think you have made yourself feel vulnerable. You hold your teammates accountable to their work. I like that you share your progresses with the class. I have noticed that even when other groups are presenting, you ask them questions and give them good feedback. You challenged yourself to work in a group where you didn’t
In Niccolo Ammaniti's masterpiece, I'm Not Scared, we explore the plight of human endeavour against all odds. We learn of the climate and poverty that makes the inhabitants of Acqua Traverse victims of circumstance, and ultimately drives them to persecute other people in the continuous pursuit of money and exceptional livelihoods. Clearly, Michele is not the only victim in Ammaniti's text, but it is through his endless determination to restore justice that ultimately demonstrates his morality, and separates him from everyone else in the story.
We feel it is important that students come together and have their voices heard, in the midst of setbacks within class. We have come together to highlight the benefits and challenges we have faced in this course. Although we acknowledge the negative experiences faced by our peers, we feel the need to also share our point of view. We acknowledge that many of our peers have felt ridiculed in the classroom, however we feel it was a matter of constructive criticism.
Hello Cassy, hope all is well. What is ALS class and where was the audience demographic? I felt that you completely captured the emotion you had throughout this assembly. Lovely job using descriptive words to paint a mental picture of the professional speech giver. I view her and being dominate, compassionate and knowledgeable, sure that she was amazing. In your forum this week you made great point such as , the use of the Um and Uh. I feel that is I didn’t read your post this week I would receive a lower grade than I would have liked. Cassy I you have inspire and reminded to double-check my speech while delivering with confidence. Secondly, I understand that everyone isn’t natural public speaker, but showing up to an even knowledgeable is
Standing at the front of the class, my nerves grew from a small, nagging annoyance to rampant thoughts of failure, causing me to scramble, my memory of the topic becoming fuzzy. My groupmate made his closing statement, which signaled to me that the hard part of our presentation was only just beginning. Watching several of my peers’ hands raise, it sunk in that the questioning phase of our presentation, and the only phase we could not thoroughly prepare for, had commenced.
Maya was a bit shy at the start of the day; however, she was surprisingly able to have her nervous energy wash away quicker this time around. I was definitely glad that she was, last semester I was used to being a listener more than the carrier of the conversation. With that said, it is interesting to help a youth who has a dramatic different in personality compared to Ines.
Eric, I think your presentation is really clear and informative. I like the choices you made on the font type and color, it popped with the images that you used. I think that your points are well stated and easy to read and understand. The only thing that I can see that you might want to consider is adding more frames so that you could include even more information on the topic. I think that you did a nice job with the Prezi presentation, I was very worried about using Prezi myself, as it is completely new to
What does it mean to be vulnerable?? According to de Chesnay (2014), vulnerability composes of individual focus and the aggregate view. Individual focus just means we look at the individuals and aggregate view we look at groups of individuals (Chesnay, 2016 p. 3-18). Most of the American population may not see themselves as vulnerable and don’t believe that they are susceptible to being vulnerable (Chesnay, 2016 p. 3-18).
The classroom presentations really helped me put everything together. Preparing for the presentation allowed me to look back and examine all the previous lessons learned up until this past Thursday. Doing this gave me a good sense of gauging my current positon and to critique myself. I was able to figure out some of the things I did wrong, for example wasting time by trying to write about a broad topic. Although I am passionate about helping low-income children succeed, it did not provide me with a clear thesis due to its complexity. I am still thinking about applying for a Masters degree in Juvenile Justice, but for this class the data was overwhelming. With that said, I realized that there were some things that were done right. For example, I was able to move on to another topic, which not only interests me, but was not fully covered during my last 24 months of Organizational Leadership classes. I believe there is a need to understand how a leader’s emotions affect their ability to influence others. This past week allowed me to reflect and realized that I was on the right path because I find my topic interesting. Having to present my journey to the class and being able to listen to others will allow me to plan
Overall the process leading up to the speech was a great experience. Even though our group was close this speech was able to help us learn more about each other. This speech was able to help us understand each other and grow as a group. We learned how to work with each other and adjust work to fit everyone’s schedule. This was a great opportunity for us to show responsibility, teamwork, and leadership. We are satisfied with the grade we got on the speech because we put a lot of time into
When violence took place people who affected by it needs to go through heeling process. They did talk about prevention a lot which is great but not enough intervention, which I believe, it is huge. Other than that Overall they did great. The page notes are bit too much readings but they contain a very good information that supports the PowerPoint presentation. Students talked about their own experience to convey the message, which I though was good idea. I believe the audience of this project will take something out of this presentation, which can change their perception toward people with
To analyse the presentation and teamwork I need to be able to understand everyone has different experiences and different ways of working and had their own view on teamwork. My confidence grew as I got to know the team. Giving the presentation has helped me with my confidence, which I will need when I am working in the health care. I have also learned to speak up more and encourage others to take part when they where being quiet and not pulling their weight. It was good to do research using the appropriate methods, looking at journals and professional sites. I managed to hold it together during the presentation in front of everyone. I knew the presentation was not going to go as well has it could due to the lack of practice. The reason I was so nervous was
She appears much older and has taken advantage of many experiences that put her ahead of the game. Although she is one of my peers, her presentation and speaking were better than some adult speakers I have had to attend. First, I began evaluating her appearance. She was addressed appropriately for the event as we were asked to dress in business casual wear. She had on neutral colors which allowed her speaking to be the main focus and not some flashy jewelry or articles of clothing. She gave a nice gentle voice as we were a small group in a small room. She had an appropriate speed as she wasn’t rushing and she knew we didn’t need anything “dumbed” down. She was also able to add pauses in appropriate places as well as emphasized key words and points. She was smiling most of the time and added humor to the whole speech. She truly tried to make this presentation relatable while bringing in her own personality. When she delivered her speech she was able to tie in so many skills that made it engaging and worthwhile. Again, Kat’s visual aids were very supporting of her speech and did not distract from it. He slides had short words or graphics and had a visually appealing look but didn’t stand out too much. Another positive aspect of her presentation is that she was quick and to-the-point when she was giving background information that way she had more time to speak on the important
First of all, to be put in a group of individuals that I had never met or interacted with before was always going to be difficult. The process of getting to know them better and finding the strengths and weaknesses of each team member was hard at first but the more we worked on the presentation, the better we became at communicating and getting the
Michelle was excellent at communicating and keeping the project on schedule. She provided the most beneficial information and asked probing questions to get us thinking about our interpretations. Abigail provided strong arguments and provided examples that contributed to the overall content of the area. Melissa provided us with paperwork from her cooperating teacher about her referral process that contributed to who was involved and how. In a group project setting, I believe my strengths are keeping the project organized and assessing the appropriate tools and technology that will best fit the needs of our group. For future teams it is important to manage your time wisely, assign tasks and jobs, communicate, and keep and open mind. We learn best when we learn from each
Process: I think group one was well organized and spoke extremely well. I enjoyed their presentation. I liked the presentation overview in the beginning that explained what we would be introduced to and who would be speaking, this was a great organizational touch! I loved the first overview video the group showed. It explained the syndrome wonderfully and was interesting to watch. I like how Tatum pointed to the chromosome picture and explained the crossover. However, I think she should have turned the other way so her voice would have projected to the entire class. She also did a great job with the pronunciation of all of her names and terms. I like that she took the time to perfect this detail. I also liked how she bolded the “main” points of her slides. It was a great way to make those points salient. Karlee also spoke well and I liked how she defined affinity and circumlocataion. I did not like how she was the only one wearing jeans. She looked great, but I think she should have worn dress pants to match the rest of her group. Sydney did well, however, I think her portion was too brief. For example, I think she should have given examples over the different
