Have you ever felt like someone really didn’t know you? From the book, “You Don’t Know Me” the main character John starts the book off with the quote, “You don’t know me.” He repeats this throughout the book, so it’s one of the reasons I chose this quote. In this novel, John has plenty of issues going on. His father leaves him when he was younger and he is being raised by his mom and her boyfriend, who abuses John. I chose the quote “You Don’t Know Me.” because it was the only one that stood out to me with its message, its significance and it also reminded me of something that happened last year. The main character, John, says, “You don’t know me.” because he thought that no one really knew who he was until the ending, which was his mom.
The song that I chose to write about is “Now that we’re men” by Spongebob sSuarepants, The main topic in this song is that two young males have taken on a big challenge to prove that they are good enough to be called men. In this song Spongebob and Patrick are both going after the crown that Plankton stole from King Neptune. A few of the best quotes in the song are; “Get the crown save the town, and Mr.Krabs”, “ we’re tough enough to save the day now that we’re men, “they’ll pass the test and finish the quest for the crown”. The first quote is powerful because it shows how much them stepping up is meaning to the whole town and Mr.Krabs. The second quote is very meaningful because it is telling the listeners that once you become a man there
B. Lasting Thought: Maybe being paired with Sydney is exactly what I needed. Learn what I’ve learned from this amazing person that life may be full of the unknown, but sometimes that’s exactly what makes it so fun. Where you are today won’t be the same tomorrow, so enjoy it. And if you don’t like where you are today, it’s okay; you never know what’s right around the
never have seen me before: how you know I ain’t lying? How you know my name
Simon knew how much it meant to me to find my father. I thought it was Mr. Baker, but then soon found out it wasn’t and sorry on my behalf for the damage. I was on the retreat, Simon snuck into Reverend’s office to get his baseball cards back and yet found the missing baseball that hit my mother. He told Ben and they drove to where we were having the retreat and he told me. I became so angry, but I’m past that now.
The story that spoke to me the most was “Don’t Eat Cat”. I identified with Owen, in that I know what it feels like for a loved one to wrong you and leave your life due to their wrong doings. On the surface it was the loved one who was at fault, while it was he and I who were wronged. Yet deep down we both knew that there was more we could’ve done. We knew that though they were wrong, we weren’t right. I felt like this story was Owen finally feeling the panic of knowing he would never see Marci again, and that it’s his fault. He came to that epiphany only after discovering his time was running short due to cancer. I feel like until that point though he grieved her, he never really let himself fully realize that she was gone forever. He recognized
But I can always begin again”(528). I personally think this is the most meaningful line because, it kind of described one of the character’s, Marie-Laure, life. Her life wasn’t the easiest. She was forced to leave her home, forced to walk across miles of land with her father with nothing but the clothes on her back, had to deal with her father being taken as a prisoner, to having the closest thing to a mother die, having to use her wits to not be killed by a German soldier, all while being blind. She went through so many things, but life began again. She was able to start over, live the life she
People don’t know what it’s like to make the decisions you make because you are a different person no one is going to be able to feel the same way no one will know how it feels to make the decisions you made because you have a different past, different feelings, different mindset, which means they shouldn’t judge you at all. But people do and i think the reason we all wear our own masks is to hide the flaws we all have. No matter what no one is flawless we all have them but yet we're obsessed with the idea of perfection. If we gave that up we wouldn’t feel the need to wear the masks that we all wear.
“I felt so lonesome, all of a sudden. I almost wished I was dead.” (Salinger 48) This was quoted by Holden Caulfield, the protagonist of J.D Salinger’s masterpiece The Catcher in the Rye.
The earth is 4.6 billion years old, if you scale that to forty-six years we have been here for only 4 hours. Our industrial revolution began 1 minute ago. In that time we have destroyed more than 50% of the world’s forest and used most of our fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are a nonrenewable energy source because it take millions of years to form. We are quickly using up our natural resources and destroying our planet.
You don't want to know me, if you think so; I can't show you the kinds of things it did to me when you weren't around, I don't want it to hear.
November 8th 2016 is when our next presidential election will take place. Many of us are wondering who we should vote for, the Democratic Party leader Hillary Clinton or the Republican Party leader Donald Trump. Hillary’s email scandal makes her untrustworthy and Donald Trump’s ignorant nature make it extremely difficult to choose a candidate, to choose between a lesser of two evils. We could vote third party, try to make sure no party gets a majority and hope the electoral colleges votes for that third party, but no third-party candidate has won the presidential election ever, all the way back to the first president George Washington in 1789. It would take many people to make it happen now.
Have you ever felt so alone, you get the impression that you do not belong at a place? Sandra Cisneros describes the unfavorable relationship she faces with her family. Although Sandra is talked down upon, she persuades the readers how the loneliness impacted her life.
This is one of the more well known scenes in the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky and its movie adaptation. I chose this clip for various reasons and I feel it holds importance not only to me but many others as well. I have had trouble my entire life with self esteem and my reliance on what other people say to me. The largest contributor to this is the mental abuse that i have experienced for many years. It has often gone to the point where I stopped believing I was worth anything and I had absolutely no clue why I had any friends or why my family put up with me. This is why the key line, “We accept the love we think we deserve,” is important to me.
You do not know who I am. You may faintly remember my name a few days from now. You may have seen me before, sitting alone in a park or crossing the street. You see many people in during your life; only a few are worth remembering. And yet we are still here. We all have a chapter in the book of life. Now, please, take a moment to get to know me—to be aware of sonder and how, despite us all sharing the same small planet, it is this simple essay that will introduce me to you.
