In the hit Broadway show ''Carousel,'' Rogers and Hammerstein wrote one of the best loved songs of all time. This song is called ''You'll Never Walk Alone.'' The theme of the song is about holding on to your strength even through the hardest of times. The simple lyrics are powerful and say that there will always be some at your side. I believe the theme explicit because it is about courage and keeping head up during hard times. Hard times happen to everybody. I believe that the theme of this song applies to everyday life because nobody goes through life without experiencing obstacles.
One interesting thing about the song is that they say you'll never walk alone if you keep your head up high. They write that you should walk through
This makes perfect sense with the lyrics “I walk a lonely road the only one that I have ever known don't know where it goes but it's only me, and I walk
People read countless stories that have a variety of themes in them. When people read “Angela's Ashes” by Frank McCourt, and “The Street” by Ann Petry, they can probably sense that there is something similar among the two stories', and that's because they share a common theme. The theme is how people can persevere through problems that they encounter. The reader will discover this similar theme of persevering through problems with the way the authors utilize the character of characters feelings and personality, the way setting creates a backdrop that establishes the tone of the story, and events that cause conflict to the character.
Today, I am seeing “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella”, starring Brandy and Whitney Houston. I am viewing this in M.O.T Charter High School’s theater classroom. I am seeing this with my fellow theater classmates. Although I have seen this film before , I am very thrilled to hear Whitney Houston and Brandy sing “Impossible/It’s Possible”! The three elements I am discussing in this piece are costuming, set, and singing.
The theme of a story is whatever general idea or insight the entire story reveals (Kennedy and Goia). In “The Story of an Hour”, by Kate Chopin, the theme is repression and freedom. In “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker, the theme of the story is being proud of your heritage or your background. In “The Storm”, by Kate Chopin, the theme is finding happiness or comfort in other things.
My story has a meaningful story behind it. The story is deep for me and even for the artist and probably for many other people. Hearing songs like this can inspire you. It inspired me to be thankful for the people in my life. One day they can be here the next they could be gone. You never know what’s going on in their lives.
In “My Papa’s waltz” by Theodore Roethke, the narrator illustrates a horrendous situation in where a child is being beaten, as something blissful and joyful, through a metaphor involved with dancing called the waltz. The narrator goes around the house joyful dancing, setting the mood for relaxation and bliss but describes each step of the waltz violently, hence “pans” falling from the kitchen shelfs. The line speaking about “every step you missed” refers to all the mistakes the father made in raising the child. Every mistake the father made had a negative impact on the child, “beating time on his head.” The poem is made up of four quatrains, with each one escalating the experience, step by step, that the narrator had to go through until he
The song I would have to pick as the theme song of my life is the song “Anyway” by Martina McBride. The song basically says sometimes you can give your all to something, and it still doesn’t work out in your favor but you should do it anyway. Obviously you shouldn’t do things expecting them not to work out, but you’re your passionate about something do it in spite of the fact that it might fail. Like famed baseball player Babe Ruth said “Don’t let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game”. I also do not believe effort is wasted in the situations when you happen to not get the result you wanted. Almost every time I have tried and failed at something it has benefited me in an unexpected way. In these situations I am reminded
Throughout the entirety of “Not Alone”, RED incorporates a heartfelt theme. The song lyrics reassure listeners that no matter what they are going through there is hope and they are not alone. This theme is conveyed through multiple lines, especially in the chorus and the bridge. “I am with you. I will carry you through it all. I won’t leave you, I will catch you when you feel like letting go. ‘Cause you’re not, you’re not alone” (RED). “And I will be your hope when you feel like it’s over. And I will pick you up when your whole world shatters. When you’re finally in my arms, look up and see love has a face” (RED). This theme is a huge reason to why it is a great go-to song because it is something that listeners need to remember, for it may calm them and keep them going. It may keep them from giving up and encourage them to press on in
With my group, we read two poems. The first one was The Rider by Naomi Shihab Nye. The second was I’ll Walk the Rope by Margaret Danner. The overall theme of these two poems is to have perseverance. Granting one of the main themes shared between the two is perseverance, both poems have separate themes.
Another example of the theme is in the short story "The Necklace." The theme shows itself in the story when Madame Loisel refuses to wait for her husband to hail a cab in front of the elegant party she had just attended because she doesn't want people to see her shabby wrap. This part shows the theme because she is ashamed to show herself wearing her old, decaying wrap.
The songs Tangled up in Blue by Bob Dylan and The Road Goes on Forever by Robert Earl Keen both demonstrate the power of love. Love appears to be the main fundamental goal that people strive for in life. Everyone at some point in their lives has experienced love or heart break, whether he/he was loved or have loved. It depend on how an individual demine his or her situation, love is neither positive nor negative nevertheless, it usually have its ups and downs. Yet, people go throughout life searching for it, without ever giving up. For both songs Tangled up in Blue and The Road Goes on Forever, both characters experience the acrimony of love.
An idea that interested me in the song “Fix you” by Coldplay was how you will always have someone to lean on no matter what. When Chris sings “lights will guide home” he is using personification in this line because saying the lights will guide them is a human thing to do, as people guide each other which I think Chris is trying to demonstrate when he sings the lyrics “lights will guide you home.” It shows life itself because no matter how big the mistakes you make, no matter how bad life may seem, there will always be someone that will have your back. This reminds me of my friends who are always there for me whether its for when I’m feeling down or if I’ve had a bad day. These lyrics also emphasize that everyone goes through rough patchs in their life and they should let people try to help them. When my dog died this year, I didn’t take it well and I was distraught, but it made me going through the loss easier
I decided to choose a song by Carrie Underwood called “ Jesus Take the wheel”. The title itself is pretty self explanatory. The purpose of this song is saying that when times get tough that's when people want help, need guidance from God. They ask him forgiveness and hope that God set them on the right path. In the song, “Jesus Take the Wheel” the main character is a stressed young adult, who's trying to get home to see her parents for christmas with her child
Songs have for many years used love as a central theme. From that aspect, “I Walk the Line,” is pretty standard. In fact, the love
I choose this theme because Holly never gave up no matter how hard her life was she kept moving forward. However she believed for most of the story that no one cared about her which was untrue because there is always someone there for you even if you don’t know it and Meg and Vera showed that.
