Rewards of Youth Sports
Sports are a contest or game that requires physical activity and a certain level of skill in which an individual plays on a team, or as an individual. Some team sports, for example are: football, baseball and volleyball while some individual sports include: boxing, tennis-singles, and golf. Through youth athletics some of the fundamental skills needed to solve problems, develop spatial recognition, and interact with others are formulated. Younger children in sports also pick up information that can aide them in having academic success, developing healthy lifestyles, and improving social skills. Playing sports can create not only immediate but also future benefits and opportunities for those who engage in them. Initially

In today’s society children often spend more time playing video games and watching TV, instead of playing outside. Sports provide scheduled days and times where they are required to participate in practices and games. This helps the child stay in shape and healthy. If the child participates in track and field type sports or is required to run for the particular sport they participate in, later in life running can help relieve stress from their daily lives. Additionally, as adults some sports can be played either professionally or just for fun. For example someone who played football throughout his educational career, stands a better chance of playing football professionally than someone who did not. My brother Israel, who is a corpsman in the Navy, has taken part in an array of sports such as softball, football, and soccer while at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi. The teams where selected on where you worked; such as if you worked in the clinic, they would have separate teams for family practice and dental. All the teams participated in tournaments and the sports were played for healthy competition and fun. Sports that are played into adulthood, for fun or professionally, continue to benefit the participant’s physical
The conflict is Man vs. Man, and is Internal. The conflict is Mr. Martin and his feelings against Mrs. Barrows. It is Internal primarily, because most of the story is about his struggle with these feelings. He is not vocal about them, only keeping them to himself. Only in the end does he take any action. This can be seen on page 368, “The woman had appalled Mr. Martin instantly, but he hadn 't shown it” (Thurber 368).
Development of children who are in their early stages of life is critical not only for themselves, but the future roles they play later in their lives. In fact, one of the most crucial parts of a child’s growth can stem from youth sports. Taking a look at youth sports as a whole it has become nearly encoded within our modern society to have our kids participate in some sort of recreational or club type atmosphere. Alison Prichard a top physical educator stated that “There is little doubt that the world is infatuated by sports. People watch them, analyze them, argue about them, spend money on them, and encourage their children to play them. Not surprisingly, youth sport is the most popular structured activity in the United States, with an estimated 45 million American children enrolled in an organized program or team in 2005” (Prichard, 2015).
Students, Brian Harpin and Brent Nelson at Kankakee Kays High School [Illinois], enjoy playing soccer for the their high school team. They like being part of a team and feel they do not need to be the best players. "You have to play the game, give it your best shot, and not give up," says Nelson. Some of Nelson’s teammates let the competition acquire the best of them. "Sometimes when they missed the ball, they took out their anger on other people," he says. Other teammates told them to just play the game and have fun. All students must play competitive sports in school to make sure that they do not become obese, and so they can stay in shape.
“Sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose-it teaches you about life.”(Billie Jean King) Most students from first grade to twelfth grade say that sports are a big part of their life and make them who they were meant to be in a positive way. Some people might argue that students in sports or extracurricular activities have lower grades than the other students, but it's the opposite way around. Sports improve your performance in school because they strengthen your concentration ability and leadership traits.
It is a known fact that sports are a significant factor into the way of life for Americans. Families will sacrifice much of their lives to see one of the children become a professional athlete. One of those sacrifices is money. Money for some families, seems almost unlimited while for the majority of families, money is something difficult to come by. Depending on which family a child belongs to, their chances of playing college or professional ball is drastically different. The world of high school sports is becoming more financially demanding than ever because camp prices are rising at an overwhelming rate, families are acquiring debt in hope that their kid is successful, and student athletes of lower class families are not getting the head starts of upper class family athletes.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness, the goal of youth sports "should be to promote lifelong physical activity, recreation and skills of healthy competition”(Source A). The American Academy of Pediatrics on Sports
Sports are a popular pastime among all ages and types of people. People not only participate in them for fun, but also for money, physical fitness, rush of competition, and for many other personal reasons. Playing sports is especially common among young people in schools. Athletics are great and enjoyable for many reasons, but there can be a point where sports participation can go too far and become negative for children and adults. Sports specialization for young people is an increasing trend that results in sports having a negative impact on individuals and society.
Some people think that sports are much greater than academics, that's why some high schools consider these activities bad. Eliminating sports can help students do better in school and that can give more time for students to study and complete homework. Therefore, districts should eliminate sports to save money so students can have better academics, and so students can have more time to complete their homework and, to study.
Less than half. Less than half of those who never participated in sports in school, will go on to get a college degree. On the flip side almost ⅔ of student athletes, nationwide, will get a 4 year college degree. These numbers come from a poll done by the Harris Poll, a Nielsen company, that surveyed thousands of people in the U.S. From the poll, researchers found that former student athletes more regularly graduate college and have a higher average income than those that don’t. However, there is much controversy over these activities because of a recent rise in injuries among athletes. High school sports have been becoming more and more popular as of late and rate of sports related injuries has gone up with it. While we can’t ignore the dangers
Sports have started to become more negative than positive extra curricular activities. There have been many bad byproducts from school sports. High school sports can be very stressful times for students. At some schools sports have gained such a large voice of their own that they have almost silenced any recognition for other extra curricular activities. Although many negative things can come from school sports there are positive sides like that some students can thrive from the sometimes extreme pressure from multiple school sports.

Physical activity has not only physical benefits. It also has a very big impact on social-emotional and cognitive aspects of child’s live. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention “The development of a physically active lifestyle is a goal for all children. Traditional team and competitive sports may promote healthy activity for selected youth. Individual sports, noncompetitive sports, lifetime sports, and recreational activities expand the opportunity for activity to everyone. The opportunity to be active on a regular basis, as well as the enjoyment and competence gained from activity, may increase the chances that a physically active lifestyle will be adopted.”
Many youth sports are part of community organized after-school programs. There are many different types of these programs such as T-Ball, Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, soccer, martial arts, cheerleading, and so forth. “There are over 40 million youth participating in organized sports, and both girls and boys have a dazzling array of choices and can play a sport year round” (Le Menestrel and Perkins 13). Communities use youth sport as an outlet to encourage social activity, a healthy lifestyle, and skill development for that particular sport. For example, “Participation in organized sports can provide opportunities for youth to learn more about specific skills and exercises associated with a particular sport” (Perkins and Noam 76). These programs offer opportunities to boost skills and connect positively with others. Without these activities, parents will have to find another developmental setting that may not give similar or beneficial outcomes as those of organized youth sport. Studies found that, “Sports
When Animal Farm was first published in 1945, the end of World War Two had finally drawn near and the people of Europe, North America, and other communities across the country had grown weary of the misuse of power on a global level. The rise of the Soviet Union in Russia represented a new potential threat for the countries of the Western world as the same strategies and tactics that Soviet leaders used to come into and maintain power had been seen in the early stages of countless other countries beforehand. The guise in which these Soviet leaders claimed their authority, however, was much more subtle and in the eyes of their subjects, justified, than the direct and brutal rise to power other totalitarian governments had crafted beforehand. Orwell noticed the spread of propaganda and misinformation among the people of the Soviet Union and related it in much the same way to the culture of complicity which the Nazis had fostered among their own people just a few years prior. Orwell’s novel, Animal Farm, explores this sense of naiveté among the masses and attempts to characterize it through the eyes of animals rather than humans in order to give the absurdity of the phenomenon a physical representation. Through the use of both observational techniques of recognizing specific instances where naiveté was used as a tool for totalitarian government as well as argumentative tactics meant to convey the significance of this theme in the novel as a whole it is clear to see that the
Athletics offer so much more than just improving hand eye coordination and keeping children fit. Harvard graduate, Paul Caccamo, explains that “sports are more than a game; they are a set of life lessons. Kids growing up without them are really disadvantaged”
