War can caused many people depression, trauma, disabilities, or even long lasting injuries. The book I will be referring to is called A Long Way Gone “Ishmael Beah”. While looking for his family he is captured by the government to become a soldier and fight against the RUF. Ishmael was both a victim and a victimizer because he had been influenced by government soldiers to do terrible things, and aided them in the fight and killed many people.

In one particularly disturbing scene, Ishmael and the other child soldiers come across a village that they have considerable trouble taking from the enemy. They were running low on ammunition, so instead of “wasting the bullets” on those men, they decided to hold them at gunpoint and force them to dig their own graves. The men dug for a long time, getting more and more tired and fearful, and once the graves were dug, the soldiers shot the men in the feet so they would fall back into the graves, and began to shovel dirt onto them. Ishmael recalls that he did not feel guilty when he could hear them struggling and clawing against the ground on top of them, and then go still. Ishmael Beah included this scene to not only provide a clear image of
If your neighborhood was flooded, how fast would you want the government to respond? Hours? Days? Weeks? Well, for victims of Hurricane Katrina it was months. But why? One of the purposes of the government is to serve the people. There was different government groups at the sites of the aftermath of Katrina, but many of them didn’t even bother to help the victims in need like the military, police, and national guard. In the book “ Zeitoun” written by Dave Eggers we see that a victim of the hurricane had more of an authentic human response than the government did. Before the hurricane hit there was a mandatory evacuation, but many people stayed behind for different reasons. The aftermath of Katrina led to even bigger issues than need be because

My book Saving Zasha by Randi Barrow has just about everything from love to intense action like shootings or chases. Saving Zasha should be preserved because it makes the reader ask questions about the book to better understand the book, it also intrigues me when most books don't even make me interested in it , and lastly the book had very small describing details that made the book come together very well.
ZAPP The Lightning of EMPOWERMENT, by William C. Byham Ph.D. and Jeff Cox presents a story of different problems that managers/supervisors face and how they deal with the problems. The book shows how an autocratic supervisor would deal with a problem compared to a participative supervisor would handle the problems. The story shows the contrast between a supervisor that ZAPPS (empowers) her employees and a supervisor that SAPPS his employees by his interactions and management style with the employees.
In the American Colonies Unit, I learned about the development and structure of the early colonies in America. More specifically, we talked about each colony's economy, government, religion, and history. For instance, we talked about how William Penn obtained a charter for Pennsylvania and made it a place of religious freedom and tolerance ("Brief History of William Penn"). In the American Colonies Project, we had to write a first-person narrative about living during the colonial times. For my project, I chose to research about Virginia during the time of Bacon's Rebellion. I chose to research Bacon's Rebellion because I wanted to understand why people 0f Virginia decided to rebel and what went through their minds as they burned Jamestown to the ground.

I have always had an interest in animals, having grown up alongside multiple pets; they have always been a part of my life. However, it wasn't until our beloved family dog fell ill with cancer that I began to realise the huge impact that a vet can have on the lives of both animals and humans and, I too, wanted to be able to help the lives of not only animals, but also the people who love them. My desire to study veterinary science was reinforced during my first work experience at a small animal practice, Vets4Pets. I witnessed several operations, from spays and castrations, to multiple dental procedures and a tumour removal from a Labrador.
