Zhou Dynasty Tradition

During the Zhou dynasty, Chinas economic and social standpoints began to take place. They continued with the farming and agricultural path, trade, and manufacturing ways. Merchants and artisans lived in small towns, owned by the landlord, leaving many to work in groups. There were groups of slaves, most likely prisoners of war, that worked alongside merchnats and traders. Even though there were slaves, scholars do not believe that that slavery was profoundly important during this era due to it not obtaining a large group of the population. The Qin dynasty created the first unified Chinese empire. They did this by utilizing a legalistic approach to government. The Qin believed that the nature of mankind is inherently evil and only through a strict code of laws with severe punishment could the government achieve reliability and stability. Because the emperor feared the people and the inherent rights and privileges established with the teachings of Confucus, he ordered all books on Confucianism burned and beheaded everyone opposed to the government including their families. This shows us how these values and traditions keep us together and in certain line. But that too is a disadvantage because we stop questioning the traditions and values passed by the family or community, for example what if in the family dinner I want to sit in the living room with the men and not cook? To my community it will look bad but today this act is seems normal, that leads us to another problem with this assumption, that maybe our community values more the rules that the people that form the community, given the example on the essay about the Amish people and their traditions.

How did the Qin Dynasty make an impact during it’s Reign in 221-207 B.C.and influence China till the modern day?

Cultures should be preserved so that they are able to be passed down throughout different generations, especially as passing down information is one probable and important key to the survival of any culture. To accomplish the preservation of culture through transmission, change seems like an essential to cultural survival, instead of a potential enemy. There were many Chinese dynasties that rose and fell throughout China’s history. The history of China, in a way, is a history of battles and wars. These wars were so important that they changed the structure of Chinese culture both then and now. Three dynasties that rose and fell during ancient China were the Han, the Tang, and the Song. The rise and fall of these great dynasties form a link that runs through Chinese history.

The most influential minds in the Chinese mental tradition vaunt under the Zhou, particularly towards the last period of the Zhou Dynasty, considered a repetition of intellectual and artistic awakening. Many of the ideas developed by figures copy Laozi, Confucius, Mencius and Mozi, who all lived during the Eastern Zhou duration, would suit the character of Chinese civilization up to the bestow day.

The conflicting views of tradition, culture

These types of beliefs and strong traditions have been good examples for western civilization absorbing their rules and respect. This has been ideal to help restoring their family values.

Early in the twentieth century we would find the collapse of four large empires; which would consist of the Russian, German, Austro-Hungarian, and the Ottoman Empire.

China has about five thousand years history which is a very long period of time. Also, the Chinese civilization was growing with these periods of time and it will continues greater than ever. Many wars and unhappinesses were happening during this period. Although, the time has passed, the histories and the civilizations have not passed. These family virtues, serious, working attitudes, sense of justice and the great Confucian tradition have been deeply assimilated into the Chinese people. Some Chinese traditions are different from North American’s. The Chinese culture has many special characteristics which are very interesting for people to learn.
