Some people go to zoos to see the wild animals, but that’s not all that they are for. People in groups such as PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) may think that zoos cannot provide the needs to wild animals as the wild can. Zoos help animals. They have improved, helping to repopulate species and save animals in the wild.
In a world where animals thrive and live, also comes the world of the human species. For many years animals and humans have lived together and have continued to grow. The human species has always been at the top of the food chain and will continue to be. Because humans are dominant over most animals, many things can happen. One of these things that are capable by the human species are zoos. Zoos have been around in society for many years, and they hold many purposes such as “conservation, science, education, and recreation” (Wickins-Drazilová). Many zoos have mission statements that hold common themes. The common themes among most of the mission statements are “(a) conservation and (b) education” (Patrick). Zoos should always be able to stay true to their mission statements while continuing to ethically provide and care for the animals in captivity. Animal welfare should be amongst the promise of zoos in missions as well.
“Some people talk to animals. Not many listen thought. That’s the problem.” - A.A. Milne. I feel that this means some people command the animals to work, while not understanding what the animal also wants or needs. In the debate, “Are Zoos Bad News?”, written anonymously, the author reports the ethical and unethical reasoning between zoos. This came after the attack on three victims. In my opinion, the existence of zoos should endure seeing that it educates people, zoos can alter the behaviour of people to animals and zoos promote wildlife conservation.
There have been many discussions about the welfare of animals since the first zoos were created. Some people agree that animals should be kept in zoo’s, they argue that it benefits the animals because their every need is catered to. However, in some zoo’s they are treated the exact opposite of being catered to. Sometimes the animals are also deprived of a natural environment that the zoo’s fail to recreate. However, zoo’s can be helpful educationally to kids. It gives them a close up on the beauty of the animals, but it comes at the animals expense.
As claimed in the LCA article, ”Animals in zoos are forced to live in artificial, stressful, and downright boring conditions”(User, Super). Evidence shows time to time that animals are being affected by zoos. There are many things hidden behind the facilities, that many people do not know about. The animals are being held in conditions that no animal should ever live in. Even though some zoos do focus on helping the animals, they are not as beneficial to the animal because they are not provided with the proper care and attention they need and zoos do not try to fix their problems.
Zoos take giant roles to protect animals. In the magazines I read, "The Stripes Will Survive", and "The Zoos Go Wild," and the video that I watched called "Behind the Scenes with the National Zoo's Lion Cubs.", there are ways that they help the animals.
When I used to work there, I would feed the almost the entire cat family, starting from a bobcat, all the way up to the lion. Then when the zookeeper would put the animals in their cages, I would go in and clean their feces, and make sure that their living environment was adequate enough
Zoologists study animals and other wildlife and how they interact with their ecosystems, They study the physical characteristics of animals, animal behaviors and the impacts humans have on wildlife and natural habitats as well as write articles and books on findings. One of the many zoologists who has made a huge impact on this field of work is Jane Goodall. She lived with primates for a portion of her life, studying them and educating herself on their way of life opening doors to some of the most amazing discoveries.
The zoo is a zoo for a reason. Going to the zoo is a fun time created to spend quality time with your family, friends, co-workers, and etc.
As the animal rights movement has developed and grown substantially in recent years, there has been an increased focused on the welfare of captive animals. A popular institution that has received much attention for keeping animals captive is the zoo. Because of this focus, zoos have responded by publicizing their positive benefits for existence in order to justify keeping these animals on display. Since the term “zoo” can have a wide variety of meaning and characteristics, it is important to define what constitutes a zoo in this essay. Zoos are defined as a facility in which animals are confined within enclosures, displayed to the public, and
The word zoo is short for zoology(the study of animals) zoos protect animals. In the United States the very first zoo was in New York and there are way more than 1,000 big animals for the public to see. Zoos take harmed animals that live in the wild and keep them safe. The article “Zoos aren’t Victorian-era throwbacks: they’re important in saving species says that zoos are responsible for saving 10 iconic species, there are Australian zoos that form part of a vital global network to keep the most vulnerable species alive, keeping them alive is keeping them safe and the vital global network does that. Those animals will have better environments and will live longer since they are not around predators.
The job description is responsible for the wellbeing of the animals living in zoos. This job requires a keeper to routinely complete several tasks for the animals, such as bathing, feeding and exercising as well as maintain the place where the animal sleep. You also have to clean out pens and living spaces. you must watch the animal's closely to check for health and behavior daily and tell the vet when there are problems. Help animals adapt to their living environments so that the animals feel like they are in their natural habitats as possible. A zookeeper should prepare captive breeding plans and reports and notify the vet of them, while educating the public about animals and conservation there being. it is you very impotent to make
The job I have chosen is a zoo veterinarian and its being a veterinarian but with an added twist to it. The twist is the animals are much more exotic and in various cases dangerous. My job will be to keep animals at the zoo healthy I do this by diagnosing medical problems, giving them medication, performing a surgery or helping with a surgery. There are other ways I might do this as well like the design of the zoo animals environment and the zoo animals diet but that is a different job I have influence on it though. The job is indoor and outdoor I have to walk around outside to check to see if an animal is healthy. But I would have to go inside to do a surgery or to check the health of an animal that doesn't live inside. The job is teamwork
We need to keep a closer eye on zoo animals. We take animals out of their natural habitat and put them in smaller enclosements. Because they are used to being in big, open fields, they may get a little bored or resort back to their natural instincts. Animals such as tigers
The main aim of zoos is to protect and conserve global biodiversity and wildlife. To do this they have four roles to play which are; research, conservation, education and welfare.
