3. XXVIII TECHNICAL CONGRESS
As explained before, the Technical Congress is held on a yearly basis. It is a fixed date in the agenda of many production and technology managers from member cement companies in the Iberian-American region and technology suppliers from all over the world. The event has two major purposes: first, the exchange of best practices in production, quarry restoration, environmental stewardship, organizational health and safety and other technical topics and sharing of state-of-the-art related technology. Second, to provide a marketplace for technology buyers and suppliers, creating attractive business and networking opportunities.
As briefly stated above, my main responsibility was to take care of the trade exhibition that takes place within the framework of the Technical
Congress. The show room is one, if not the main, source of financing the event. Throughout the three months spent at the Federation I made contacts, sold the exhibition spaces and sponsorship packages, coordinated the promotion material for the exhibitors, followed-up merchandise deliveries,
participant’s
registrations,
programs
for
spouses, payments, the social agenda, the academic program (including paper call) and the congress’ website.

Through the study and review of two specific aspects of San José de Moro’s social responsibility plan: 1. The Modular Museum Program as a heritage tourism tool, and 2. The Development of a Local Identity, it is the purpose of this paper to demonstrate that in order to achieve a sustainable preservation of the site, the local community must be treated as an equal stakeholder and decision-maker. Unfortunately, this has not been the case.
The summit at Rio de Janeiro was a wake up call for the metropolises. It was necessary to develop in such a way that it was not so invasive on the environment. According to the Brundtland Report: “in developing countries few municipal governments possess the necessary amount of energy, resources, and qualified staff to supply the rapidly increasing population with the services and utilities indispensable to a decent human life” (Gyorgy Kunszt, Sustainable Architecture, 6). It is because of such conditions that illegal constructions have taken place, in order to satisfy the needs of the rapidly increasing population. However, this does not mean that the constructions are adequate either for the environment or for a human being. After analyzing important documents such as the Brundtland Report, the summit at Rio de Janeiro became crucial in the development of the idea of sustainable architecture and development. The guidelines for these ideas were under the title of “Tasks for the 21st Century”. The bases for what are today’s sustainable architectural standards are located in this document. The achievements at the Rio de Janeiro Conference were crucial in order to begin changing the ideas that had been established and changing them into what would be considered the beginning of a new age in architecture. Sustainable architecture is one of the small steps mankind is taking in order to
Environmental protection is currently one of the most pressing social issues; it features on the agenda of many different groups within society, including governments, special interest groups and global organisations. The actions of organisations with regard to the environment are becoming a large factor in their total profit and propensity for future growth. CEMEX is the third largest company in global cement and aggregate production; and the world’s leading supplier of ready-mix cement. Their annual production levels of cement and aggregate are approximately 55 million cubic metres and 160 million tonnes respectively. They have operations spanning
As is known from the surroundings we live, there are an increasing number of factories and manufacturing industries all around the world, which facilitate our daily life on one hand and pollute the environment around us on the other. Countries, especially some industrialized ones cannot develop their economy at the cost of making the surroundings contaminated. Many a company, such as Black and Decker producing such products as power tools, kitchen appliances as well as lawn and garden equipment, pursues a policy of sustainable development or ecological sustainability. It refers to the endurance of systems and processes in ecology, covering four interconnected domains: ecology, economics, politics and culture. J Klewitz, EG Hansen (2014) said, “Sustainability-oriented innovation (SOIs) is the integration of ecological and social aspects into products, processes, and organizational structures.”
Hi, I am Emma Percy and I am studying a Bachelor of Public Relations and Communication. I hope to finish my degree at the end of this trimester. I am looking to work in the Publishing field when I graduate. I am also looking at completing a post graduate degree in writing, editing and publishing.
To begin with, it all started after the winter semester, when I got selected for my internship at Senator Jeff Kleins office I was incredibly shocked because out of all the individuals who interviewed I was the only one selected, this was a great achievement. I was loathed with congratulations of my friends and batch mates even before I had myself seen the result. What was even better, that I was the only students of my school selected for an internship there. I felt that this would be a magnificent experience. I was in a firm which of great fame, conceivably I couldn 't have asked for a better internship.
On the onset, I wish to point out that environmental and sustainability initiatives are not new to us. Indeed, over the years several environmental projects have been undertaken by our companies. A few examples are the installation of a photovoltaic system for “la regie” of MC Vision, cell-site battery regeneration at Emtel, rain water collection at CPMD & MC Vision, and paperless reporting in most units. Also, our staffs have participated in good numbers in the recent “Clean-Up Mauritius” campaigns, and we have keenly celebrated this years’ environmental day with an awareness workshop.
I’m very pleased to participate in this side event and I’d like to thank the Permanent Mission of Spain and the NGO AFAMMER for co-organizing this discussion on an issue that is really critical for sustainable development.
Bosch, the successful leading supplier, technology and service worldwide company, together with its 350 subsidiaries and affiliates, not only the fact that Bosch is a giant operation , but also, the largest supplier automotive components, operating over 260 manufacturing locations and located in more than 150 countries in Europe, Asia, North America, Africa and Middle East. The operations of Bosch can be divided into four business sectors: Mobility solution, Consumer goods, Industrial technology, and energy and building technology. The success of Bosch is undoubtedly attributable in great part to its global presence. The company mainly focuses on innovation, invention and development of the products and technologies, as its slogan “Invented for life”. My internship took place in Thailand, at Bosch Automotive. I was working in the Chassis Systems Control department for Sales Original Equipments (CC/SOE1) as a sales coordinator responsible for ASEAN and Australia market, my task and responsibility are quotation and agreement letter preparation, Price management (creation/change) in ACCPAC-system, Sales forecast planning support, General admin support, Presentation preparation for management/customers/etc and Powered Two Wheeler (PTW) and Chassis Systems Control marketing support.
This in turn required a common perception of the central approaches and concepts of the project. Starting point of the negotiation process was the adoption of the concept of “strong sustainability” (given in the project application). “Strong sustainability” refers to an approach in which natural capital (resources) is regarded as non-substitutable. Since natural resources are limited, they form the basic prerequisite for them (Döring, 2004). But the question remains: How to deal with the other dimensions of sustainability? And where to locate culture?
In my last assignment, I have worked as an Environmental Safeguard Specialist in a USAID funded project (PROSHAR). I was responsible for overall environmental compliance monitoring of PROSHAR’s engineering interventions. I have developed modules and provided hands on trainings to PROSHAR and partner NGO’s staff to build their capacity to conduct an environmental compliance monitoring.
C.E.2.1 After the last project was finished; I had the opportunity to continue working with INECO, Ingenieria y Economia del Transporte, S.A. in Ecuador August 2014. This narrative describes my professional experience as a Site Engineer in a new project.
This assignment shall examine some of the health, social and environmental costs and benefits allied with an economic development project .This shall also examine policies and initiatives taken by Royal Dutch Shell PLC. In order to ensure the implementation of sustainable development.
The concept of sustainable development regards the use of human, physical, and financial resources in a manner that is effectively directed only to industrial, commercial and financial areas, but also the infrastructure, education, health, tourism, and so on. Because the development is in the interest not only of the public but also the private sector, it takes account of social and environmental components of development (Therivel & Paridario, 2013).
In terms of economic progress, the company can develop a local skills network making its expertise and resources available to local business it can create a win-win strategy. It promotes the local economy and yields access to valuable expertise. Socially, the organization can work in each community to address with local aspirations and give support to associations that are working toward public good. With regards to the environment, each task is to ensure as often as possible its business activity takes into account the need to protect and enhance local eco-systems. For example, the multi-national organization BPTT, achieve this aspect, sustainable development in the CSR policy by being involved in a range of activities in Trinidad and Tobago, from involvement at the Galeota Point’s Nature Reserve, to making a US$10 million dollar investment in the University of Trinidad and Tobago and sponsoring cultural activities and hopes it creates a profitable relationship between consumers and the organization.Note as well that in the areas of TT which they work, such as Mayaro, BPTT offers scholarships to youth to encourage their pursuit of higher education.
