Communication, transportation, and the trading of new goods changed the culture of the United States. Machinery for mass production, like the Spinning Jenny, the Iron mining industry and coal mining industries created a culture of constant communication, trading and commerce between U.S citizens. Textile Factories and other innovations in this time created various jobs for Americans and created tradeable crops for American to exchange with other countries. (Lec 12) With this, throughout the 1800s, the population of the United States grew to 31.4 million by 1860. (Lec 12). This shows the improvement of economic relationships within the United States.

After the Civil War, the Second American Industrial Revolution or Gilded Age made the Americans the most industrialized people in the world. This economic phenomenon was unprecedented in history. There were several factors that led the American economic prowess and prosperity. The Americans were blessed with natural resources and a liberal immigration policy to ensure steady work force. Yet, the most important factors were technological innovation and entrepreneurial ability.

The American economy underwent a tremendous economic transformation between the years of 1790 and 1860. The economic growth can be associated with a number of factors; for instance, changes in transportation, communications, and agricultural production. Therefore, the American traders reaped a huge profit from trade due to the improved communication, agricultural systems, and transport system because they could carry out business without any difficulties and this led to the growth of the American economy.

America had a huge industrial revolution in the late 1800’s. The process was slow, but many changes were made. Americans found it more profitable to make a living on a farm. There were many changes in our nation like new technology, a lot of immigrants into our country , and different/new views on our government. All of these factors helped to promote a huge industrial revolution.

With the internal improvements spreading throughout early America during the 1830 and 1840s, science and organized experimentation became more important than ever. As a result of the transportation revolution, America started undergoing revolutionary changes in its industrial system. Manufacturers moved from being ran by small families to large business-ran as the costs and complexities increased. Additionally, in the 1840s, laborers started striking for better working conditions and shorter workdays. With the rapidly growing industrialization, we start seeing a greater need in the improvement of technology throughout America. Technologies such as the Francis Turbine, which increased the efficiency of water power, are needed to power the larger manufactures that continue to succeed. Furthermore, we see the ideology of Manifest Destiny play a role by creating heavier need for a means of transportation, as well as that for a means of communication. How did America become such a strong industrial country in the nineteenth century? History has credited this emergence to the Industrial Revolution; however, history has not decided if the industrialists or the immigrants are most essential to this growth, or if it is a collaboration of the efforts of both of these groups. The Industrial Revolution was a great time of growth in the United States. During this time in North America the eastern side of the United States is becoming overcrowded and people begin to set off in search for new land and a fresh start. Several factor contributed to both the rise and fall of railroads in the United States from the spread of westward expansion, to farmers need to stay connected to the rest of the nation, and to the start of railroad regulations agencies.

The civil war created massive Industrial and economic boom, by the 1870s in conjunction with the surge in immigration of 1890s. Up to the 1900’s the United States was primarily agrarian really only concerned with settling the land that had come under its control. Industrialization in America resulted in many successes of the 20th century as we see them today. Without the industrial growth, there wouldn’t be a technology of computer, or an automobile revolution, or a camera tech, or the improved medicine that was developed. Industrial growth was the most important moments in the history of America, changing the American culture as it was known. Agriculture movement was no longer the business of the day, as factories were introduced all around the country, creating more jobs opportunities and useful products. The Industrial growth in America made the job industry what it is today.

The innovation of technology in America industrialization was just as big as building cities, due the mass amount of people immigrating in to America’s coasts. America had to find ways to house these people and make sure they had jobs.

With the use of machines, manufacturing spread throughout America, producing much larger amounts of goods; enabling more people to be hired, since many more specific and varied jobs were created by the demands. Organizing these laborers also sped up production. However, there was a ten-year economic recession in the early 1800’s, since adoption and use of original innovations of the Industrial Revolution

The topic I have chosen to discuss related to the last 400 years in Western Civilization is the Industrial Revolution in Britain. The Industrial Revolution was what created the modern capitalist system. Britain was the first to lead the way in this huge transformation.
