From both my personal and proffesional experience, I can see a strong connection between the traits of a extraversion and conscientiousness individual and myself. In the past I have been regarded as social and assertive (almost overpowering), but also a friend who is willing to help others solve their personal problems, all of which are characteristics of extraversion and conscientiousness. In terms of neuroticism, I also feel as if the low score was an accurate scaling for me as I am a very positive young member of society who is blessed with the oportunities and success that life has presented me with so far. Table 1. NEO-IPIP Results Dimension My score Neuroticism 15/50 Extraversion 43/50 Openness to Experinece 29/50 Agreeableness 27/50 Conscientiousness 35/50 In terms of intrapersonal strengths and weaknesses, my current personailty shows that I do poses extraversion qualities which will help me in my pursuit to become a successful investment banker, but I also poses qualities such as compasion and thoughtfulness which might pull me back, (Sarah Butcher, 2013). Investment banking can be a cut throat industry where your personal decisions can determine the future of hundreds of peoples jobs. If I let my conscientious
Considering my personality, based on the “Big 5” personality traits, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability, and openness to experience, I scored on the high end of the moderate range. As for the openness to experience, I scored a 9 out of 10 ranging in the high level of personality factor (Project 2, BMAL-500 D, McGraw Hill Connect, Liberty University, 2017). I feel as if though this is accurate as I am generally outgoing and enjoy the company of others.
The 1st Factor is Extraversion (AKA Surgency) and the score I received for this factor is 31 which is above average. With the score I got, it says that I am peppy and that I need or want to talk and hang out with people. Although part of the report is true about being peppy, I do not see myself as always needing others around because most of the time, I like being by myself. I do not agree with the score I got because I actually do not like people that well. I am a rude person that judges people easily. For example, if I were to meet someone new in a class, the first thing I will do is recognize a feature that is very noticeable and I will not say anything about it. Also, if mistakes were made constantly, it would be really obvious and it would bother me a lot even though I would not say anything about it out loud. But I will say what I think is wrong or bad about the person to someone else, even though I know that sounds really messed up and it is.
Empathy is the way you feel or understand another person; it is a deep emotional understanding of a person’s feelings or problems. It is as we often hear people say put yourself in someone else’s shoes. An empathic listener gives the other person his or her undivided attention. When being an empathic listener you have to focus on the words the speaker is saying and not let yourself be distracted. As you focus on what the person is saying, you can respond when needed. If you don’t
I’m a Christian evangelical. To my way of thinking, “Christian” and “evangelical” are synonymous, since a Christian should live a life that bears witness with their attitudes, words, and actions to the good news of Jesus.
We all have rights to be treated with respect and dignity. Abuse and neglects be in the homes or care settings. It is health and social workers to watch out for any abuse in the settings. There are some service users who not want any abuse against them reported for fear of being bullied, but as a social worker it our duty to report it to the line manager. Any person can be an abuser, because the service users trust them and never thought it can be done by them.People suffering from dementia can be very aggressive and challenging. They are at times forget to eat, It is the carers duties to always remind them to eat. Some service users can be violent to social workers, this is manly with people who suffer from mental health. This can verbal abuse or physical. You should be informed during handover about any challenging behaviours. You must be informed of the policy and procedures of the organization. The should be panic buttons or other techniques to use when such situations arise, with causing any harm to
When I was young I knew I was different, because I felt no attraction to the opposite gender.I felt like I knew this, because whenever a girl gave me something affectionate I would feel emptiness. I know being gay goes against my religion and the way we are supposed to be as people, but people don't know how I feel except me.People who are hateful especially at school don't know how much I have suffered my whole life.I have struggled hiding who I am and still continue to suffer, because people are so ignorant including my family.I know one day I will find the right path, I just need to be patient. This goes to show how too much conformity can be bad used in hatred.Conformity can be good in this case if you accept yourself
The third category on the personality report is conscientiousness. Conscientiousness is defined as a “state of being thorough, careful, or vigilant; it implies a desire to do a task well.”(report) People high on the conscientiousness scale are hard workers and seen to be reliable. Me being a perfectionist and always planning ahead of time for everything in my life; I was placed in the 92nd percentile. I have a routine I follow every day along with a well-organized work area and planner. When I am notified of anything required to be done I will insert it into my planner on a certain date with a time and place for it to be accomplished. While being conscientious is great and helps me out greatly it also hampers my life. I can be viewed as a “compulsive perfectionist”(report) when it comes to certain things. Additionally, I work two jobs and volunteer on campus giving me the label of a “workaholic”.
In the downtown garage development case the city has two different alternatives with this piece of land; either to develop the land by adding a parking garage or selling the land for cash in favor of immediate benefits. If the city were to sell the land the benefits that they would receive would be less than developing and maintaining a parking garage. More behind the scenes are the spillovers that would happen since there needs to be more parking downtown to accommodate commuters, retailers, and residents around the development.
People high in extroversion tend to seek out opportunities for social interaction, where they are often the “life of the party.” They are comfortable with others, gregarious, and prone to action rather than contemplation. People low in extroversion are more likely to be people “of few words,” people who are quiet, introspective, reserved, and thoughtful. The long-term study found that extroversion was fairly stable across the years, indicating that extroverts and introverts do not easily shift into the opposite
a. According self tests using the Five Factor Model, my personality has low extraversion and emotional stability, a high degree of openness, and moderate levels of agreeableness and conscientiousness. Low extraversion is demonstrated in both professional and social envionments. While working a corporate job as a financial analyst, taking the time and initiative to interact with coworkers beyond the scope of the job was limited to a brief conversation once a day with the same two people. In large social gatherings, interactions are limited to familiar people with whom I have pre-existing friendships. If I attend a concert by myself, I will bring a book to read in between musical acts to prevent people from speaking to me. Low emotional
According to my IPIP-NEO narrative report I am a very independent, outgoing, calm, and curious person. My comprehensive report shows that I am: high scoring in openness, conscientiousness, and extraversion, average scoring in agreeableness and low scoring in Neuroticism. Raking in the 82nd percentile, extraversion was my second highest scoring trait. This means I am pretty outgoing, extraverted and love people. This is evident my scores of 89 in friendliness, 84 in assertiveness and 75 in activity level. Despite my high score in extraversion, I am on the lower side of average in the excitement-seeking facet with a score or 33. This means that even though I might like a little hustle and bustle and take charge I wont take to many risks and don’t always need a thrill to be satisfied.
In the discipline of personality psychology, it is crucial for researchers to conduct studies using universal terms and scales, so that they may effectively compare results and further their line of research. However, when it concerns personality traits, such a comprehensive catalogue has not always been available – in fact, it has taken until up until the late 20th century to develop a list of essential personality traits and create scales that measure these dimensions reliably (John, Naumann, & Soto, 2008). The current set of these widely used traits is called the “Big Five” personality traits, and encompasses five broad dimensions - Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness. Of the five, this paper will focus on Conscientiousness, a trait that describes individuals with impulse control who are highly organized, thorough, planful, efficient, responsible, reliable, and dependable, to name just a handful of characteristics associated with the trait (John, Naumann, & Soto, 2008). Those low in the trait, on the other hand, are more frequently careless and irresponsible (McShane & Steen, 2012). Although studies have shown Conscientiousness to be a predictor of various life outcomes such as health and longevity, this paper will focus on the findings that support Conscientiousness as a predictor of job performance and, when one is high in the trait, success in
(PSU, L4, P5.). In the area of extraversion, I scored high. Having these qualities has helped me to get more involved in things and have more experiences furthering my development. There is an old adage ‘there are two sides to every coin’, this may apply here as well. As an extravert, I am very talkative, but I may lack in my active listening skills. I completed an active listening self-assessment, and found that my tendencies to start processing responses and even sometime interrupt before the speaker is completed their thought is an important area for my personal development.
People high in agreeableness tend to be trusting, friendly and cooperative. (27) Is about average. Factor III conscientiousness, this trait reflects how organized and persistent we are in pursuing our goals. High scorers are methodical, well organized and dutiful. (45) Is relatively high. Factor IV neuroticism, this trait reflects the tendency to experience negative thoughts and feelings. High scorers are prone to insecurity and emotional distress. Low scorers tend to be more relaxed, less emotional and less prone to distress. (14) Is relatively low. Factor V openness, this trait reflects 'open-mindedness' and interest in culture. Low scorers are more down-to-earth, less interested in art and more practical in nature. (16) Is relatively low.
Personality is a large part of being human, as each person has a unique set of characteristics and traits. One person can be kind and patient and another can be rude and ill tempered. This variability is both what makes the study of personality fascinating and incredibly difficult. Although there are a myriad of different personality traits that can be used to describe a person, psychologists have narrowed it down to five overarching ideas. These are commonly referred to as the “Big Five” personality traits and they consist of, neuroticism, extraversion, agreeableness, openness, and conscientiousness. In particular, this study will focus on neuroticism, the trait that is characterized by high emotionality and instability, anxiety, and irritability (Soto, John, Gosling, & Potter 2011). Of the five, neuroticism is the only one with a negative connotation, which separates it from the others. Nonetheless, despite its poor reputation, neuroticism is an incredibly important trait to study as it is often linked with anxiety and depression (Soto et al., 2011). For example, one study found that participants who were clinically depressed and those who were not but scored highly on the neuroticism scale both had significantly greater negative self-perceptions (Thomson, 2016). Although currently there is only a correlation between these mental disorders and neuroticism, further experimentation could lead to more conclusive result. Recently, mental health has
