Kudler Fine Foods Risk Management The internet has pervaded every aspect of business and Kudler Fine Foods has used it as a tool to further their goals. Wireless technology should be the next stepping stone for Kudler to use to advance in their field, and much like most new technologies the use of wirelessly connected devices can pose a number of security concerns. The benefits of having connectivity throughout the enterprise can outweigh the security concerns that wireless technology can pose. There are certain steps that can be taken to mitigate most of the concerns of having wirelessly connected devices on the

GPS software can be installed on all devices so that if they do go missing they can be found. Accessing the network from a public network or mobile network opens up some of the same concerns as using a wireless network but can be addressed through the use of a virtual private network. A VPN works by using encryption to establish a secure connection with a device outside of the private network thus giving the device the functionality of being on the network. A VPN would allow employees and other intranet users the ability to access it from anywhere on their mobile device granting Kudler Fine Foods the speed and flexibility it needs to gain an edge on its competitors.
Cloud Computing Benefits and Concerns Cloud computing is a new technology that comes with both benefits and drawbacks and like any new tech it can be used to great success when paired with steps to mitigate the security issues it raises. Cloud computing has become somewhat of an ambiguous term often having different meaning for different people. An article in InfoWorld (2013) stated, ”Cloud computing comes into focus only when you think about what IT always needs: a way to increase capacity or add capabilities on the fly without investing in new infrastructure, training new personnel, or licensing new software. Cloud computing encompasses any
After reviewing the Kudler Fine Food network, a major network overhaul will need to bring the network up to par with the latest technology. If Kudler Fine Foods is not able to upgrade their systems then they will fall behind the technological curve and will not be able to compete with other companies. Kudler needs to do the upgrade not only to keep up with the advances with network systems but needs to install the proper systems to increase profits. If Kudler does not do constant upgrades then they will be forced to pay a larger amount for the larger upgrades in the future. It is vital to install the proper systems that will have the longevity and the capability for future network expansion without having to spend money on unnecessary upgrades.
Each location has its own local network thus it is distributed across the company, however this has its pros and cons that can affect the company. With the implementation of a WAN as defined in Telecommunications Essentials “A wide area network (WAN) is a group of computer networks connected over long distances by telecommunications links, which can be either wireline or wireless.” (Goleniewski & Jarrett, 2007, p. 201) The benefits that a WAN will bring to Kudler Fine Foods is a centralized management of all systems and an ease of use communication from store to store. As stated earlier along with the WAN, each location will also be implementing a WLAN. This shall improve network coverage and give each location the ability to place computer systems or POS machines in locations that may have not been possible before due to the lack of a hardline or ability to install a new line. Wireless technology has greatly improved over the years and has transitioned from an additional layer that may not be needed or only added if there was room in the budget to a
Kudler Fine Foods understands that incorporation of technology is important for smooth operations. For this reason, the company has a wide network of computers that provide both intranet and internet facilities. With intranet, the employees are able to gain access to company-maintained databases which contain information for variety of things right from inventory to customers and beyond.
Of these roles, Kudler Fine Foods can take advantage of many. The most obvious for day-to-day use include Fax Server, File Services, and Web Server. Web server is important because it "enables sharing of information on the Internet, intranets, or extranets," (Savill, 2008). A fax server will allow Kudler Fine Foods to accept faxed orders, as well as communications from suppliers. This will allow the company to ensure inventory
This will provide the company with the chance to more efficiently manage its activities (Mangiaracina et al, 2011). At present, the company does not have any key plans in place to provide it with help with managing its applications. It is however critical for the company’s management to ensure that it clearly understands the importance of putting in places a wireless technology. This is due to the fact that the company will have a better chance to track its inventory while at the same time ensure that it is able to remotely control all of its 10 new stores (Rekik et al, 2009).
The review of the current network used at Kudler Fine Foods was determine to be a bus topology as the network topology that is being used. The bus network is set-up in such a way that all the network components are connected via CAT5 to the bus or communication line. This configuration is true at sites in the corporation for their workstations, servers, and stand-alone UPS. A 56k modem is the device that is used by all of the networks communicating to the internet.
Cloud computing is one of the fastest growing segment of Information technology today. In simple words cloud computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the internet instead on the computer's hard drive which can be accessed from any part of the world if the individual are connected to the internet or a network connection is available 24/7. A simple example of cloud computing is g-mail. With the connection of internet through any medium we can send and receive emails.
There is a sign that hangs outside the Information Technology Director’s office at work that reads….Cloud Computing - is just using someone else’s server. I now understand what that sign means. Most people do not know exactly what cloud computing means, honestly until now I really didn’t understand the entire concept. There is no imaginary cloud hanging in the sky that holds all our information. Cloud computing has its place in a business; there are various factors that must be evaluated when considering the use of this method data storage. A business should determine the condition of their existing computer system and software. They should examine their short and long term business goals and then weigh the advantages and
Cloud computing is a practice of storing, collecting and sharing data and resources through web-based tools. It connects many computers together and forms a bigger computer. The biggest characteristic of cloud technology is flexibility. This refers to the ability of system adapting and scale to change in workload. Cloud computing can automatically provision and deprovision information to ensure it satisfies the latest resource demands (Interoute, What is Cloud Computing).
Cloud as the term signifies means the computers in a network to be used for data storage remotely and for maintenance. The cloud computing offers reductions in costs and also has increased scalability, reliability and flexibility in its own processes, and is considered as todays one of the most exciting technologies and has seen a rapid growth over the past ten years. The Cloud computing uses advanced level of computational
Companies are relying on their networks for more tasks than ever before. At many places, wireless access points, voice-over-internet-protocol phones and security cameras are allowing many businesses options, along with the opportunity to run phone and even electric lines. (10 Problems 36)
Cloud computing is an internet based computing which provides various applications and services like storage, servers, infrastructure, networking with low cost, on-demand self service, pay as you go model, location independent resource pooling, reasonable price , rapid elasticity etc. Cloud computing is one way to increase the capacity add capabilities without investing in new infrastructures like computer hardware involves storage memory, licensing for new software, training for a person and in a dynamic way.
Cloud computing can be defined as the large-scale, shared IT infrastructure which is available over the internet it helps is transforming the way corporate IT services are delivered and managed.
There are different definition available of cloud computing, one of them is as “Cloud computing is a new way of delivering computing resources and services. There are many researcher and experts believe that
The term ‘cloud computing’ gets tossed around in media and business settings, and while everyone seems to know generally what it is, not everyone is aware of how to use it, much less how to implement it in a safe way that still enables it to provide the full benefits of storing data in the cloud versus storing and managing it on-site. Cloud computing has many benefits for businesses, such as allowing them to store information and be managed by an outside company, which eliminates the cost and effort of a company having to buy servers, install and configure them, and then hire IT staff to continue to maintain them. According to a study of over 1,300 U.S. and U.K. businesses, 88 percent reported that they saved money using cloud services,
